IGN Presents: The History of Call of Duty

At a glance, Call of Duty is much like every other game out there; almost extraordinarily ordinary. To the uninitiated, it looks like another "me too" tale of heroic army men, told from a first-person perspective. But it's Call of Duty's ability to rise above the competition – and without the need for attention-grabbing gimmicks – that makes it so exceptional, even with six proper games in as many years, and just as many spin-offs.

Call of Duty snatched the annual World War II franchise crown from the industry's largest publisher, and helped pave the way for Activision's world conquest. With Modern Warfare 2 just around the corner, it shows no signs of slowing down.

Honestly what is with the hate for MW2? From what I can see it looks like a really fun game.

He apparently is more of a PC gamer than anything. And as such he's pissed off that there are no dedicated servers.

Panda, aside from the lack of dedicated servers, the increased price, and the 9v9 cap, I couldn't disagree with you more. / sarcasm.

lol, nice.

I saw a chart someone made of the features for COD4 vs COD6. It's kind of pathetic. Let me see if I can dig it up.

Edit: Ah, found it. Gonna attach it now.

Another edit: Sh!t, it's not attaching for some reason

Yet another edit: Seriously, what's going on here? Why can't I upload an image from my HD?

1.7 - You sir are 100% correct.
MW2: 9v9.
BC2: 24 players. 12v12, Squads of 4, Squads of 2.

MW2: Deathmatch
BC2: Tactics, thinking, teamplay.

MW2: No Vehicles
BC2: Tanks, atv, uav, helicopters

MW2: No dedicated servers
BC2: Dedicated servers, which in turn means: mods, maps, and extended game life

MW2: Same graphics engine
BC2: Major overhaul of previous engine, so now it's even better.

MW2: Static environments
BC2: Destructible environments

Yep. I can totally see why MW2 is better than BC2. /s
