Yahtzee Gets Rickroll'd by EA

GN writes, "Watching an angry Aussie incapable of using punctuation obliterate a box must be one hell of a sight. Fortunately, a few that witnessed it managed to survive with their lives... more or less.

Yahtzee, famous for his gaming parody Zero Punctuation, received a package today from EA Games promoting Dante's Inferno. Yahtzee eagerly pulled open the wooden box, noticing that the inside of the lid read, "The Fifth Circle of Hell Is Close." The Escapist said, "Members of The Escapist staff crowded around the box, eager to find out what was inside. We were somewhat bemused to discover nothing but a small burlap bundle containing safety goggles and a ball peen hammer."

That's when it happened..."
Updates:
Yes, we know Yahtzee is England-born, but he lives in Australia now and that's what counts.

1.4 - from what I see
Their marketing campaign for this game is damn good. I went from no interest, to tons of interest. I'll be buying this one for sure. God I hope it's good...

4.1 - interview
If you see the interview with yatzy at the escapist you will see that he's playing it at the moment. And he also talks a bit about it. Also about a book he's releasing and about a new indie horror-adventure game that he's making. Worth checking out that interview :)

Small correction: Yahtzee is a Brit.

As for the matter at hand: BRILLIANT.

5.1 - was going to say the same thing!
He is British and speaks with a British accent. Also his sarcasm is very British.

But, yeah, that's hilarious!

You two just don't get it... Where you are born and what country you are a citizen of are not the same thing. Had he moved here and became a citizen he would be American.

5.3 - hmmm
Are we debating legal citizenship?

His humour is British, he makes loads of references to British pop culture and food. He hasn't been in australia that long (if you read his bio) and I would be willing to bet that he classes himself has British.

EA has just gained back some of my respect. Very clever. So how did the thing turn on? Was that box singing the whole time it shipped, or did they do something to activate it?

I'm guessing it had a cord that was attached on one end to the lid of the box and the other end was attached to the music device so that when he opened the box the cord was pulled out which stated the music.

They used to make devices like that for women's purses. A woman would wear a cord around her wrist and the other end was attached to a box that she put in her purse. If someone snatched her purse the cord would snap off since it was attached to her. The box in her purse would then emit a very loud alarm.

Guess they just can't take criticism. Yahtzee's the only proper reviewer I've ever had the pleasure of coming across and I look forward to his review of Dante's Inferno next week, I'm sure he'll take extra special care when ripping apart this particular vomit puddle produced by EA.
If it was a good company it might have been funny, but since EA haven't made a decent game in ages (Just desperately trying to get their name attached to them) it's just sad.

@8: Dude, relax, it was a funny stunt by EA's marketing department. I also highly doubt he was the only one who received this (awesome) promo.

@8.1: "scared that Dante>Gow 3"...I highly doubt anyone is worried about that. That would be like Coke being scared of the latest RC Cola formula.

No matter what everyone is saying about the Dantes Inferno 'circles' viral, I think EA are doing a great job of promoting this game. This is nearly as good as the 'cash bribe'.

Anyway, I'm in the camp that I accept Dantes Inferno and GoWIII for what they are. I'm sure they can coexist, much like Infamous and Prototype did.
