I loved Getaway 2, it had its flaws, but it was a great game nonetheless.

I can't wait till Getaway 3, London is a very unique city and it's a shame so few games are set there.

They should definitely go back to those projects after EyePet. They will also be better games than if they were not delayed thanks to the continued experience with the system!

I was an early adopter, getting my PS3 around the time the first Uncharted was released.

Man, those days were rough. I remember tons of negativity online about the PS3, and I was also always eagerly waiting for the next big release, cuz well, there weren't many compelling titles back then.

It's so different now. Wow. Always some new title around the corner that beckons.

what you on about Eight Days and Getaway 3 was initially meant to be launch titles in the very first place.

Getaway and Eight Days are totally different genres when compared to KZ2.

I hope this gets shown at E310 or better yet get an official reveal like U2 and GOWIII at Xmas like last year.

If I declare something, I can most likely prove it: I don't like to go off half-c0cked about anything.

1. Eight Days was supposed to be a game with around five to eight real big cities in the game (like Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas, etc)which was supposed to be realistically rendered; that in and of itself would take a long time do finish. Furthermore (Fuzzy on this point) the engine for Eight Days was supposed to support the ability to go inside virtually any building, like that grocery store in the link's photos,

or the restaurant in the demo. Plus the city was supposed to have people in it, like a real city is supposed to, not barely inhabited for a city it's size like GTA IV was.

2. The graphics were to have neigh-realistic lighting, destructibility, and effects not yet perfected at the time of the Eight Days demo (like the fireball explosion from the Eight Days demo)

Only TWO games that were on Sony's Roster from SCEE could do one or the other but not both: Killzone 2 and The Getaway. Now, you would need the abilities of both Killzone 2 and The Getaway combined to get the realism and size of Eight Days, given the fire effects and explosions of Killzone 2 plus the cityscape of The Getaway.

Most likely they pulled their sources from The Getaway to work on other aspects of Eight Days while the effects and lighting was perfected in the Killzone 2 engine.

Just a guess, though.

Besides: anyone ELSE notice that around 1:30ish the music from Killzone 2's desert scene was playing in the background of this clip?

I think it was mentioned at the time of the 'cancellation' that it was so Studio London could help out Guerilla finishing off their engine. Now it's complete, they can use that engine for future games, regardless of genre.

and I don't know how old is that trailer (because it's not an official one :P) but maybe a few months old.
