The most likely thing to be a WoW killer will be either WoW2 or some kind of Starcraft MMO (or whatever the next MMO Blizzard is releasing). Not because WoW and other Blizzard MMOs are necessarily the best, but because they are now best known to people that will be looking for something after WoW, and it will seem like the safest bet.

given from what I've seen in beta, Aion isn't going to kill anything close to WoW. Its pretty much a wow clone with less options. Who knows maybe in 5 years Aion will be able to but this is just another one of those games that will disappoint and have a massive audience at the beginning, then few months later, it'll be less then 1/3 left playing.

this will be the first MMO i pay for, it just looks so much better then anything else. i cannot wait till its released, any help on chosing a class?

Edit: @ guys saying it will be sh!t, you should....look at it, its starting in September why not do both? cause anyone who thinks this game will be bland or boring is delusional.

...Nothing has to kill anything its the company's war with finances not ours.

Aion is not a WoW clone. It's just your usual button pressing MMO with flying added in. The problem with Aion is that it doesn't do anything new and doesn't make the gameplay any more interesting than any other MMO out there.

I think Star Wars The Old Republic is the only game that can put a decent dent into WoW mainly because Star Wars already has a humongous and established fan base.

EQ2,Guildwars,AoC,Vanguard,War hammer,LotRO, just what do these MMOs have in commong? They were all touted as "WoW-killers" nothing can kill WoW but WoW itself, or another blizzard mmo..The starwars MMO will be interesting but I'm still skeptical. I'm waiting for the Warhammer40k MMO myself which wont be out for a loooong time.

How could a game that came out weeks before WoW be touted as a WoW killer? The game I'm referring to here is EQ2, of course, which was initial competition for WoW but was never seen as anything close to a WoW killer.

6 - Aion is an awesome MMO...
...but it won't kill WoW. Wow has the casuals and most casuals won't wanna play Aion or if they do will quit not long after starting. Wow is going downhill but it'll still be around for a long time. I see The Old Republic taking the biggest chunk out of WoW's playerbase out of all the new MMO's coming out.

Aion is in my opinion the best MMO released in recent years, since old school are now RIP (Been playing since UO).

No MMO kills another MMO, MMO dies when developer decides to.

I just finished playing CB6 I got 237 kills and 10k abyss points today solo ^_^

ANYONE WHO HAS QUESTIONS I HAVE ANSWERS, I PLAYED ALL BETAS AND CHINESE AION (ATM LVL 30 SIN)

ncsoft didnt say it was a wow killer, noobs call it a wow killer.

now just because this isnt a wow killer it always has been for me.

i like fast gameplay, combo's full customization. everyone in wow looks the same.

wow will die, no one thought EQ would die and only thing that would beat eq was EQ2 and guess what? it died in its sleep.

same will happen oneday with wow, especially with those limited customizations and graphics. (i think people shud be able to crank up graphics if they have a gaming PC not be limited so everyone can play.

Everquest 1 had this feature why doesnt wow?

for the time i have been playing aion on beta....i would agree that it is very similar to wow. in all reality all mmorpgs are all the same except for final fantasy that had and now will have be title called wow killer. wow is dying. things getting too repetative and easier as time ticks by, and yes i have played wow all the way to level 80. after that i got bored of it. wow has become a fps games clone.

i do like aion though, graphically amazing, the simplicity of the game, and art design is far superior than WOW.
