Additional Monitor Resolutions over HDMI still coming to 360

Some of you may have noticed that the Xbox 360's August update touted "Additional Monitor resolutions over HDMI". Some of you may have also noticed that this feature was missing from the preview and subsequently removed from the release notes, leading to much confusion - was it a typo? Was it removed? Would it ever come to the 360?

James K., of Xbox Support, has finally cleared this up on the preview forums:

"In initial update notes you may have noticed or requested the "additional Monitor resolutions" this feature is still being fine tuned which is why it was removed from later updates and has not been rolled out yet, in case your wondering, we do still plan to release this feature but only once all steps have been taken to ensure that it would work to the best of its ability for all of our users. Thanks for your great feedback, it is invaluable to making this the greatest experience possible this post has been placed in multiple sections in the forums in the hope of reaching as many people as have requested information should you have any more questions feel free to send me a PM. "

The original one was better, but I thought it might have been a bit TOO much.

3.1 - Yep...
My brother got his recently RRoD 360 back, hoping for one with a HDMI contact, but no dice. I guess MS are hoping he'll buy a second one to get the benefit of HDMI...

Exactly how many people have a 360 hooked into a PC monitor for this to be quite the demanded feature? It doesn't seem to have much practicality when it comes to gaming since most games have been set to 720p/1080i anyways. Do they have some magical programming to allow for fullscreen upscaling?

7 - I wouldn't be surprised...
I wouldn't be surprised if this additional monitor resolution has something to do with 3D applications.
