I thought that Batman: AA had already been reviewed by GamesMaster? No matter, they're both owned by Future Publishing.

1.1 - Don't know about GamesMaster....
But on the cover of OPM is says "World Exclusive Review". They may be lying.

1.2 - They may both be right...
GM reviewed the 360 version, and OPM is of course playing the PS3 version. So it might be technically right that they are both world exclusive on that format.

Either way, I'm pumped for this game...

The Big new isn't Batman: AA getting a 9/10. No the big new is Harry Potter getting an 8/10 (Harry Potter is running for the best movie game ever title) *end sarcasm*

Did I miss something? What's wrong with the 360 version?

edit: That was the only thing I remember that was different between the two. Thanks for the reply.

2.2 - Nothing is wrong with the 360 version...
Except it's missing the Joker as a playable character. He's just having a laugh...

So I guess the rumors about Eidos review tampering for Arkham Asylum were true. Giving the 'excuslive first review' and cover story to any magazine willing to give it a 9 or higher. EpicBattleAxe was right. Just look for a magazine with an exclusive on the review with a score 9 or higher, pretty much the exact requirements Eidos supposedly sent out to numerous magazines that wanted the cover story.

Too bad, cause the game looks like it probably deserves a high score anyways. Dunno why they resort to these types of things, like that whole Kane and Lynch fiasco.

Reviews are merely opinion. There are reasons why this particular reviewer (Nathan Ditum) gave Batman a 9.

I've got my issues with OPM UK but I don't, for a minute, believe they'd take a bung for a right to review a multi early. They're pretty fair, when most PS mags were giving 10/10 to KZ2 they went with a 9/10 and they often do similar.

A good multi platform game with PS3 DLC is unlikely to have them go rogue now ,is it?

I wouldn't put it past any publication. I even have suspicions about IGN's GTAIV exclusive review, and I've been a user at their site for over a decade, since before they were even IGN.

Even if the Eidos exclusive requirements of a 9 out of 10 allegations are true, it doesn't mean that magazines publishing an exclusive review of the game, giving it a 9 out of 10, are selling out. Their integrity could theoretically be in tact. If they played the game and decided to give it a 9 on its own merits, then why not cash in on the opportunity to publish your review early. I can't imagine this particular magazine, which has a history of being harsh, giving a game a high score just to publish a review a little bit early, and on a multiplatform game to boot. It's probably what I said: they decided on a 9 out of 10, which just so happens to place them in a position to be able to publish their review early, so they're publishing it early.

so did OPM have to give Batman:arkam asylum a prefect score to get the exclusive, thats what I heard had been offered to reviewers, give it a great score get the embargo lifted early

Incredible score for Batman. This magazine is always pretty harsh with their reviews. They aren't one to give out 10's very frequently, and so a 9 from them is at least as impressive as a 5 out of 5 from X-Play (for instance).

I'm surprised The Punisher scored higher than Topatoi. In the States, the Punisher didn't do well in reviews, but I thought I'd heard some good things about Topatoi. Oh well.

The King Of Fighters XII – 6

:( I was hopeful for this as I've just started to have my fill of SFVI. Looks like I'll pick up Batman this month then.

8 - AA Gold?
It's pretty surprising to see AA getting reviewed already. Has the game even gone gold yet? It's not due out for another 3 weeks. Reviewers giving a score to a game that isn't even technically done yet seems a little whacked.

Three weeks before release is not that long, and most games go gold at least a month or two before. Also, almost all big games are reviewed about a 3 weeks to a month early, even if they haven't went "gold" yet. All that means is they are 100% complete and sending out the game to be copied for retail. The game itself is often finished well before that and given to reviewers so they can get a review out early. (Although sometimes they get a copy of the game that is different from the final version in little ways)

everyone is seriously missing that Harry Potter got an 8. I mean the game was fun but it took 3 hours to beat and was not really anything special.

I'll form my own opinion of course but if the reviewers that I do have respect for give it a good rating I'll be getting the PS3 version for my son after I get my PS3 fixed.

I feel Gamoc is right. Batman:AA looks pretty dark and mature.

How old is your son? there is a Lego Batman out there.

Ontopic: If Batman keeps getting reviews like this, it's a sure purchase for me.

My son is about to turn 11 years old. He has a good head on his shoulders. Honor roll student most of the time. He definitely knows right from wrong and knows games are just games. We game together so I always know what he is playing. If I think this game is inappropriate for him I will not hesitate to trade it in.

This Batman game seems to definitely draw its inspiration more from the comics and maybe the Burton films.

I definitely am considering it, looks like it could, at the very least, be an entertining game.

From the first ten minutes of Arkham Asylum that I saw on N4G, I didn't like it very much. You can really tell that this game runs on the Unreal Engine 3 from the way that there is no interaction between the water on the ground and the character walking on it. Apart from the visuals, I also think that I've become spoiled after seeing Heath Ledger's rendition of the Joker, because now I seriously don't like this version. This version is from the cartoon series, which I loved, but I just don't like this Joker.

This Joker is not the Joker from the cartoon version. It may look like it, but they took stuff from various comics.

Mark Hamill did the voice of the Joker in a lot of the animated shows.

It would have been hard to get Ledger's voice in the video game...
