If this will be for the main series I hope it will be a "bonus" mission that is optional from the main game. Similar to the recent episode released for Gears of War 2.

A spin off game could also be cool,

I can see her being impossible to shoot at compared to the playable male characters.. If they suit her up just the same then cool, but if she's in some sort of skin tight armor outfit then... yeah. She'll be the most evasive thing going! It would be a welcomed addition though.

....to come on here and say gears 3 will suck due to playing as a female, then Killzone 3 will come out and you play part of the game as a female (say like halo 2 switchimg) and they will say how innovative and fresh the idea is......

Anyway, as long as she fits into the story, it would be ok. Also, considering in the Halo-verse there were female Spartans (though only in the books) why is it all future FPS war games do we always see men anyway? I mean there HAS to be female soldiers and not just field observers like Anya in Gears 1 and 2 and that one chick in KZ2 (who doesnt do much but you gotta baby sit her).

Anyway, like someone said as long as they dont go overboard and do the stupid thing of having female body armor that makes her specifical stand out, it should be fine.

It will be a welcome change, however Epic needs to bring back the Survival-horror feeling of the first game. Its absence was the only let-down in Gears2, an otherwise perfect TPS.

There was a female gear who featured heavily in that book. Close ties with Marcus & Dom, and Dom's dead brother Carlos. She trained them all before Emergence day, went missing for ages, then came back to help fight the Locust.

now that i think about it, this is how gears of war should've originally been. a female protagonist akin to Private Vasquez or Lieutenant Ellen Ripley from Alien, a mixture of Major Kusanagi from ghost in the shell, and some bad assery from Sarah Conner of Terminator.

that would be sweet! female protagonists are hardly seen in shooters but some of the most bad ass movies/shows has female protagonists (Alien, Terminator, Ghost in the Shell, etc.)

I don't have any thing against females, but every game that includes females they always seem to get in the way no matter how much good they do, and ugh they can never shut up either, they always got their mouths open, I bet Marcus Fenix would say ''DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM THROW ME YOUR FRAG GRENADE, IM GONNA CLOSE UP HER GRUB HOLE''! It seems like they don't want the guys to kill the locust queen, they wanna watch a cat fight or some mud-wrestling! Gears of War is a man's world, and the women that are in the franchise have great supporting roles like the locust queen, maria, or the chick that Marcus Fenix talks to thru out his mission for his intel,and these roles don't interfere with the way the GEARS and the locusts tear thru one another like Michael Vick and Pitbull fights, LOL!

I think that a girl featured as a playable character in Gears of War would be unreal, because 1. Ever since Gears of War there never was a woman fighting in the fight only men and even if she had some kind of intruiging story plot as to her purpose it would be a waste and I feel it would cripple the franchise. Okay now for 2. Now here comes Gears of War 2 there is still men fighting the war, no women operating outside of the GEARS to give a new approach in this war with the locust! Now 3. It will be such a waste because I can only think back to RE5 with Sheva Alomar as your partner she was some piece of Eye Candy I tell you, but still she just was something to look at my opinion, every other second all I heard was ''Chris help'' and she just loved being the center of attention always running into swarms of zombies like she wanted to be a bunny for Hugh Heffner more than a hardcore marksman, this new chick for the Gears of War franchise is someone's idea of testing the waters and let's hope that this plan works!
