Confirmed Exclusive: Resident Evil 4 Arriving in Late 2010

Director Paul W.S. Anderson talked up (spoiler alert!) a new Resident Evil film last fall. Anderson has been busy working on drafts of the script, and the film is supposedly set in Tokyo and Alaska.

Lame. Capcom should stick to CG, even though Degeneration wasn't that great.

3.1 - The RE movies are crap
and by the way..the movies are based on the RE games..just take your favorite cartoon and imagine some bad director make a movie with a completely different story..then you will feel what we does

Anderson has no respect for the franchise.

It would have been cheap to make a movie in the mansion, not to mention more true tot he series. Instead.. in the first movie, the mansion makes what I'd like to call: " a guest appearance " because you don't see much of the mansion. Not only that, I felt no dread like I felt in the games.

If a game can have me feeling dread, in my teens, I'd expect a movie which would represent such emotions PROPER; Reseident Evil.

No such thing here. Anderson is the classic example of why Hollywood should just leave the gaming industry to itself.

6 - Dammit...
Main stream audiences are loving this crap, but come on already. At least the direct to DVD CGI release of Degeneration played much closer to the games storyline. Honestly I actually quite enjoyed Degenration.

Just to say, "New resident evil film by 2010" implies there will be one out this year (actual site says by sept 2010). Anyways, I didn't watch the last Resident Evil movie because they were just going crazy with the movie license.

9 - Degeneration was ok
But i agree that the first 3 were average these films mostly are i just felt if they made resident evil 1 as much like the actual game as possible it couldnt fail but they didnt and that was thier downfall and part 2 with nemesis falling in love with milla jockovic lol so lame .

You know, everyone is getting angry at the movie franchise, but shouldn't we focus our efforts on Capcom and what they did to the games?

how on earth anderson is still allowed to fu@k up...i mean "direct" films is beyond me, let alone have full creative control of a beloved franchise, he hasnt made a watchable movie since mortal kombat, and wasn't that like 15 years ago??

The Resident Evil movies are not that bad the second one wasn't great but 1 and 3 were enjoyable, if you don't like the movies why do you care if they make them, no one is forcing you to watch them and they don't reflect badly on the games at all, CAPCOM has been doing a good enough job alone destroying the game franchise. Just like the games the movies are nothing but different takes on the resident evil universe, it puts the characters in different roles and situations, exactly like the game dose, not all of the resident evil games follow any one story.

the reason i care is because; as a franchise, i have respect for resident evil. im just saying that in my opinion the movies didn't take a very interesting angle on what is an otherwise interesting universe, the characters didn't come off as particularly likeable or interesting (although thats mainly down to the actors and those responsible for casting them)and thus they did not do the franchise justice, although i'll agree that resi5 was not quite what i wanted either, but it was still pretty impressive, anderson can prove me wrong...but we'll see..
