IGN: Shepard Will Be in Mass Effect 3

im not really a fan of mass effect at all but isn't that basically spoiling any plot twists they could have had?

i mean people thought he was dead right?
so everyone now knows story wise hes gonna be a ok through the whole game

So...what? Do they mean only your incarnation of the avatar can die? That other interview made it seem like you could die as part of the story. Will this replacement Shepard fit in with the storyline like a clone or just be a new create-a-character? I'm confused now.

guys what they mean is that your character may or may not appear in 3, because of events in 2.

take heavy rain's gameplay and say "<cough>MASS EFFECT DID IT FIRST<cough>" and there you have it.

oh and btw...why was there EVER this whole idea that alan wake was the closest thing to heavy rain? "<cough>MASS EFFECT DID IT FIRST<cough>"

edit: yeah, too many people are forgetting that the original Mass Effect actually pulled off a branching story VERY well.

There are alliances (renegade and paragon) as well as military history (ruthless, war hero, sole survivor) and pre-service history (earth born, spacer, colonist). And then of course there's your gender. You'll also chose who to woo in search of a mate (human or alien).

There're sub plots for each of those decisions and combinations. And benefits as well.

No, I think you're a bit confused...Heavy Rain is being compared more to Alan Wake. Mainly because of the graphical style and for taking a lot of time to come out.

IMO pointless to compare....they all trying something different.

no, i didn't mean it that way. i actually was specifically talking about the story and subplot system. and yeah i agree that they're both compared unfairly. but so many people think that heavy rain is ushering in a whole new concept with its gameplay. and while it's true for its particular way (most of the choices made in mass effect are more about dialogue than your actual actions) i still think that a lot of credit is due to mass effect for making it a very workable system. WITHOUT getting in the way of it being an excellent shooter.

I love the fact that your decisions carry over from game to game. Mass Effect 2 is probably my most anticipated game. Well, along with Alan Wake and Uncharted 2 at least.
