Advent Children Complete sells 100,000 Copies in First Day

Several Japanese gaming websites are reporting that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete managed to shift an impressive 100,000 copies in its first day on sale.

Advent Children Complete launched this week in various forms. The movie could be bought standalone, in a slightly more expensive special edition which included a demo of Final Fantasy XIII and in a bundle with a 'Cloud Black' PS3 console.

Needless to say, sales of 100,000 in Japan alone for the extended High Def cut of the movie is quite impressive - though it has to be asked - how many of those were imported by salivating FF Western FF fans desperate for the FF13 demo?

100k for first day is not impressive. It means it will fall down like a rock in next few days. I expected at least 300k or more....

@1.3 This is for a director's cut of an old movie with a demo not a new game. If you really expected 300k the first day that's pretty ridiculous.

Fanboys think Blu Ray Movie Sales can be compared with games, they sure are idiots. :D

Lowest lifeform on the world, the fanboy.

@1.3 - 100k sales are very good for a movie that has already been released on disc months ago. Also it's a demo, not a full game.

I'm personally wondering whether the FF7 PS3 is selling well, I would be surprised if it isn't.

I know believing a movie outselling a game is relevant, crazy huh.

Bubbles/*Pop*, oops I thought you said something meaningful, it's not about being a fanboy, it's about quality, and putting the competition in the grave. Let me guess the 360 has a demo, NOPE, check

Iron Man
Dark Knight
and soon to be LotR, says Hi.

Sesame Street is-------------->

2 - **Looks at Killzone 2 story***
That's it?

Well, those are probably sold to retailers and not to the end user blah blah blah.
anything less that a million is laughable.
I guess this just isn't as popular as the Sony loyalists would have you believe!

I thought pre orders were well over 2 million. LOL Sony.

I'll give it 2 more days to reach 1 million and then I'll label it a FLOP!

Yadda yadda yadda

/sarc

On a serious note: Well done and well deserved.

"how many of those were imported by salivating FF Western FF fans desperate for the FF13 demo?"

Um...duh? I seriously considered spending 70 bucks on that movie because of the demo, and if the movie had English subs I would've done it in a second (can't stand the English VO's). I just hope Square sees this as the wake-up call it is.

I'm genuinely excited for the movie itself, not really the demo. It's a fun bit of entertaining fan service, and the new scenes look to flesh it out nicely. Can't wait!

Pretty impressive! Worldwide TDK sold worldwide around 600,000 on its first day, Iron man around 400,000 in a week.

Seeing how FF7 is amazingly popular, i dunno why Square would'nt begins a remake or something like that, of FF7 on the PS3. It would probably outsell MGS4 worldwide, without a doubt.

11 - Pretty cool
I wonder if this was a test to see if FF7 is still a viable franchise?
Maybe SE isnt sure if they want to invest in the remake on the scale of FF7 and they used Advent children complete to see who the world still feels about FF7? Hmmmm interesting.....

And again, people blame Square-Enix, everybody always forget that was Tri-Ace who DIDN'T WANTED TO SUPPORT THE PS3!

ALL of Square-Enix next gen titles were announced for PS3 (even TLR, but you know... a japanese and weak team - the SaGa - working with a western engine like UE3 = fail). And they are supporting Sony with amazing PSP games and are working hard to make FFXIII the best JRPG of the Gen.

And still they have Versus XIII... a PS3 exclusive title.

It would have been nice to get The Last Remnant when it was supposed to be released. Make Star Ocean a multiplatform title. Kept FF13 exclusive or release one single game on the PS3.

Well, maybe Tri-Ace didn't want to develop a PS3 game, but SE could have "convinced" them to do it, afterall Sega did and I'm pretty sure considering the relation between SE and Tri-Ace that it wouldn't have been too hard to ask them to make a multiplatform title.

I know it could be good. But like I said, Square-Enix is just publishing Tri-ace games... if Tri-ace don't want their games on PS3, what can SE do?

They will release games on PS3, just wait, all of SQUARE-ENIX next-gen titles were announced for PS3. This Bundle it's just the beginning, believe. The relationship between SONY and S-E is still impressive, blame TRI-ACE now...

About TLR on PS3, well, it was a bad decision to choose the SaGa Team and the UE3 for that game. Next time they'll need to use Crystal Tools...

12.4 - The Star Ocean engine is multiplat
Hell they said the game could be done on the PSP, why they didn't make a PS3 version is beyond me (and probably the scope of one company's wallet)

shady business in progress

I kind of agree with you but SE didn't choose the SaGa team for TLR, it was Takai's game, he was the man behind it all.

@Da One: I think it was Tri-Ace that wanted SO4 on the 360 for whatever reason. Most likely it was through some sense of loyalty after MS funded Infinite Undiscovery(it's doubtful that they'll fund a sequel but it could happen).

The import price was way to high for me to get it on my EU PS3. It was like $60-70 I think. I bet this won't even come to EU, maybe in November if we're lucky :(

15 - i imported it
but guess what? fedex called me today to tell me that i had to fill out a vidoe declaration form.when i asked y i had to fill out this form.he told me that the US makes sure not to let any anti-goverment or obscene films from over sea's without filling out such a form.which was strange cause i imported films from play-asia before.

did anyone else got the same call from fedex?

well it did sell as well or better then the SE 360 RPG's which is pretty pathetic. An old movie and demo should not sell as well as a SE RPG ( TLR ) or other JRPG's ( IU & SO4 ). Hope that MS check was a biggy.

If the Blu-ray version of Advent Child sold 100K on the first day, imagine what a FF7 remake might possibly sell on day-1. Wake up SquareEnix, and give us a remake!
