Confirmed: Fatal Frame IV not coming to NA

Looks like our hopes have been dashed due to a Tecmo Rep sending out this statement.

"Nintendo holds the publishing rights to 'Fatal Frame Wii,' which was developed by Tecmo LTD. and Grasshopper Manufacture and released in Japan on July 31, 2008. Nintendo of America has since then decided not to publish the title in North America – consequently, the title will not be released in this territory. As the owner of the IP, Tecmo feels very unfortunate that the fans of the series in North America will not have a chance to play the game, but respects the final decision made by Nintendo of America."

PS3 games might not be region-locked, but Wii games most certainly are.

And this is a Wii game.

Hopefully this shows game developers what happens if you're stupid enough to give exclusive publishing rights to Nintendo. They don't publish it and the money you spent creating the game gets flushed down the drain.

1.5 - i dont get nintendo..
just what the hell is their understanding of hardcore games, wii music, animal crossing, and wii fit? is that the so called core games that they were supposed to provide us nintendo fans. when the chance to really provide us with this great game they choice to F@#@ us fans and not release it in the US region.
Nintendo we the fans frickin love you for all the thoughts and for showing us the fans what we really mean to you..hope you are swimming in your money that you got from casual gamers while continuing to shaft us the core gamers, thank you..

Way to go, Nintendo. Deny yet another core series access in the west. The Fatal Frame series is my favourite survival/horror series, period. I would have played this on my wife's Wii, but now I'll keep to the PS2 games. Too bad. My heart goes out to Tecmo, who obviously wanted to expose those gamers to it's experience.

1.7 - WTF!! Nintendo, How Could You Fail Us!!!
First Wii Music, now this. I actually agree with aniboo!!

@ Kamikaze135. Wii games sell, but they just take time to sell very well. They don't sell very well at launch, but build up over months. Idiot.

Being a American sucks right now!!!

i did want the game but in all honesty im not really surprised at all
i mean the fatal frame fanbase isn't all that big its actually pretty small so it wouldn't have really sold well at all

unless it was a huge name tittle those sell good based of the name alone

consider the possibility that perhaps this is an announcement nintendo wants to make at e3 and that tecmo just ruined it for nintendo?

Honestly, the Wii is targeted towards casuals. Look at how Dead Rising and Mad World sold on the Wii.....horribly. Fatal Frame IV would sell like crap as well, so you can't really blame Nintendo for not bringing it over. Still....I can't help but to feel that slight twitch of disappointment. I know the Wii is selling like hot cakes, but when I think about Nintendo's console now, I can't help but think "Oh, how the mighty have fallen".

Nintendo: Yeah! We're family friendly and make sure your kids are safe while they're playing online. We love all of our fans!!!!

*behind closed doors*

Nintendo: Lol, as long as they bring us money we'll say what they wanna hear!

That doesnt make any sense though why would you complain about copies not being sold when your not releasing a game in all regions stripping it from potential copies sold?

Madworld btw isnt doing as bas as people think. Especially seeing as its banned in Germany and Australia and not even being considered for Japan release.

3.4 - It isn't doing bad?
If it can't be released in two regions and is doing poorly in sales in the US....how is that doing good? Lol. I mean, yeah, sales don't matter to gamers, but they matter to developers. Poor sales for hardcore games = more mini games for the Wii.

6 - What a load of horses**t!
So let me get this straight.. you release a unique, somewhat popular game onto the market called Fatal Frame. A small fanbase rises in the US. You release a sequel.. series gets a larger fanbase. You release yet another sequel, yet again increasing the fanbase outside the country it was developed in. You then proceed to allow some big shot company to gain exclusive rights to the next installments. The big shot company for some reason decides to screw all the fans outside Japan excited for a new Fatal Frame, and you can do nothing about it. Smooth s**t right there.. oh well. Just another reason to not turn on my Wii for another God knows how long.

That's EXACTLY what I've been thinking. Well said, Xandet. +bubbles

I was bummed when I originally found out that Fatal Frame 4 was an exclusive for the Wii. I love Dead Space, Resident Evil, and Silent Hill, but I have never been as scared as when I played Fatal Frame 2.

I can only pray there'll be a PS360 Fatal Frame within the foreseeable future.

"Nintendo holds the publishing rights to 'Fatal Frame Wii,' which was developed by Tecmo LTD. and Grasshopper Manufacture and released in Japan on July 31, 2008."

Fatal Frame WII. Hmmm, it'd be great if they could whip up a PS2 version and publish it themselves in whatever regions they wanted to. Without Nintendo being able to do a damn thing about it because of whatever rights they hold or some silliness like that.

Then the game goes on to sell BIG, making Nintendo look like even bigger brainless jerks than they already do.

of course...

talk about loosing their fan-base, Nintendo must be ran by idiots or something, they're starting to loose steam, and don't know that by the time this gen is over, those 7-8 year olds that bought the Wii are going to be teenagers and I hope they don't sell Sh!t, I was a big supporter of the Wii, and now I see it was in vein... what a waste.

Back to my X360 then till The Conduit comes out.

At least we have Escape From Bug Island... oh, wait

I wouldn't confirm this just yet. Until I see it on a major game site I'll remain confident that it will end up here.

It's coming to Europe so there's no reason why it won't show up here

There is an article on IGN about it here:
http://uk.wii.ign.com/artic...

Nintendo said there were no plans for Project Zero IV in Europe as well, but like someone else said, maybe we'll see a PS3 'remake' at some point. Tecmo are quite into that at the moment.

I think it's been confirmed for Europe. Last week, IIRC, in a French site/mag they had an ad and release date for it.

We also, for what it was worth, got disaster when the US didn't even though both London and Madrid have suffered at the hands of terrorists more recently than the US.

Maybe costs for production(it'll be PAL for Europe I guiess-like Japan is part of this. I also think there's a reasonable fanbase in the EU as well yet you'd think all that localisation would take it's toll.

Whatever, it's another kick in the teeth for US Wii owners from Reggie the tool. Surely for what's been a widely lauded return to form for the series they could have taken a loss? They're hardly short of a few bob and this is exactly the chance they needed to show the core fans they do care. Sadly AC s as hardcore as Reggie wants you to get. He's prolly laughing his fa head off at Madworld selling so poorly as well.

Just wait-you prolly won't even get S&P2! F%^$ you NOA.

i was interested in this too. the wii is easy to mod, to make it region free, so no biggie really, if you wanted it, although you'll have to pay more to import it, but it should have english in the PAL version. so if you really want the game, then mod your wii.

i thought nintendo was going to do a little more hardcore rep. this game doesn't come off to me as over the top gore either. i wonder why nintendo did this.maybe nintendo wants to make a game like this, but they would have gumdrops, rainbows and unicorns you can take pictures of.
:>

Madworld isn't selling for a few other reasons too, not just the kiddies didn't want it. one of the biggest complaints are, its too gory, like adding violence for the sake of violence, which turned some people off, and the fact that it is a 5 hour game, for $50.

i haven't bought madworld yet, since i don't have the money, also a 5 hour game for $50??? maybe if it was $40 or something more people might have bought it, alot of people are waiting for a price drop too.

27.1 - there is no PAL version
the ad in the french mag from a few weeks ago was confirmed to be a mistake

http://news.spong.com/artic...

http://www.cameraslens.com/...

"The announcement appeared by mistake in the official Nintendo magazine in France. There are currently no plans to launch Project Zero 4 in Europe."

like i said in a previous post, our best bet is to learn japanese and import the game. There's playthrough's of the game on youtube.
