Gears Of War ripped off Kill.Switch. Technically all games have some feature that has been done in the past. So this article is kinda pointless.

I thought this was more about clones. Like Killer Instinct being a good clone of Mortal Kombat, or Saints Row being a good clone of GTA. Instead it was just random games that had some very few similiar features thrown in there which I say is bs. Cause even though people say Silent Hill is a clone of Resident Evil but the first survival horror game was actually Alone In The Dark. And the first game to ever use some type of cover was actually Metal Gear Solid (PS1) where you could hug the wall and peek around the corner.

So yeah this article is kinda pointless.

Uncharted isnt a ripoff timb raider , at most they got the adventurer/explorer/archelogis t theme going on , itself stolen from Indy and many other sources .

Gears of war like pointed out took things from killswitch , but also games like Resident evil 4

Besides novelty has been long gone , so who cares ...
At most it has been multiple cases of many ideas and games fallen into oblivion or badly known getting copied or cloned by better produced ones by better studios .

1.3 - Tomb Raider ripped-off pitfall, even down to fighting a bunch of animals
Bionic commando, and other games will Rip-off Uncharted's vertical cover style when Drake uses things he climbs on as cover.

and Kill.switch was ripped off by all.

Yup, i was just about to mention Winback. I played it on my PS2 or was it PS1... i dont remember. It was a good game if you were patient enough to deal with the instant death traps.

Winback was first with all these cover system.

Devil May Cry was a genre maker of awesomeness copied by Ninja Gaiden which was then copied by other things with ninja in it and God of War like games.

I wish more copied Tenchu.

LBP is being copied by something game.

Sing Star is being copied by something game.

They all copy each other... there's really no point in trying to trace all these emulations. For all we know FPS was copied from Duck Hunt.

pretty stupid list. Counter-Strike rips off Half-Life? What? They acknowledge it is a mod of Half-Life. Which should disqualify it to begin with...but beside that the 2 games have nothing what-so-ever in common.

Did I miss it or did they not even put Saints Row on there? Surely they could of made a much better list than this...like it matters...but if you are gonna do it at least do a good one.

Wow, this guy gets it wrong on a lot of games. Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden? Half-Life/CS?!? If he knows that technically it's actually a mod, then why even compare these 2 games when there are lots of other games out there that are more of a ripoff?

I guess this means we can't ever have two games of the sames genre then eh?If so then one rips off of the other.That's just stupid.It's called competition for a reason.What about forza and gran terismo?They are both simulaters right so they must be ripped off of the other.This list is just stupid.I thought the list was actually going to be good.

And Uncharted didn't rip off Tomb Raider.Ripping off is when you do everything the same and don't innovate a bit.If you actually played uncharted you would be able to see the innovation and what it does to seperate itself from tomb raider.It's a much better smoother game and now that they are adding stealth in it It's just going to be that much better.

Come on - Uncharted owes a lot to Tomb Raider. After I finished it, I described it to a friend as "What Tomb Raider should have evolved into." They are both mixes of platforming, gunplay and puzzle solving - laid out in a linear fashion with built in story elements that rely on cut scenes. They also have very similar settings and objectives.

But that's just the way it is with the gaming industry, where imitation is much more accepted than in other entertainment mediums.

And besides, the Tomb Raider franchise rested on it laurels for a very long time. They were practically begging someone to come along and do it better. And that's exactly what Uncharted did - a whole lot better.

That's not true. There have been plenty of wholly innovative games (this past year I thought PixelJunk Eden was the most original) - and it's undeniable that the video game industry does see an overabundance of imitation. Usually, the most extreme imitators turn out to be very bad games - but occasionally one will rise above the others.

How in the world would this article have any impact on future criticism of Alan Wake? If that was the point, it failed utterly. Not to mention that it's completely unnecessary. Alan Wake will stand or fall on it's own merits. If it borrows concepts from other games, it will be forgiven as long as it delivers an excellent gaming experience, just like any other game.

I remember playing Driver 2...that game was fun back then...good times..

but GTA3 shouldn't even be compared to driver.,..since all R* did was make GTA 3D..the foundation was laid...down way b4..the 1st Driver game was made...

wow some of the worse comparos ever.
Alone in the Dark was the first survival horror game
Grand Theft Auto was a more realistic take on another Rockstar game before it Body Harvest where you steal cars in an open world
Ninja Gaiden is more Double Dragon then Castlevania.
and the Metroid/Castlevania one is the oddest.

inevitable rip-off/comparison of the Battlefield series (or any game featuring tanks) to the original Combat on the Atari VCS and I would've been set!! Even the forts/bases were destructible lol.
