I thought Killzone 1 was an amazing shooter and I've been waiting for Killzone 2 ever since E3 '05. The wait is almost over =)

KZ1 WAS excellent. It got raped by the media just because it wasn't a Halokiller, a phrase the media themselves made up, not Sony or GG.

It like a movie critic saying the next Bond (or Xmen, Spielberg, Starwars etc) flick will be the best movie ever made, and then having the nerve to be upset with the movie when it simply turns out to be very good.

Makes me think, everyone says the hardware of ps2 couldn't handle killzone 1.

Would a bc compatible ps3 make killzone 1 look that much better?

I played kilzone 1 and thought it was garbage, probably cause I played halo and half-life 2 and call of duty at the time as well. Kilzone 2 will be amazing, because its nothing like original, and everything of the best shooters out there.

awesome looking but never really did anything in terms of gameplay....
example
PS2 would not allow for changing of a level. When you died and replayed a level it was the SAME thing. PPL came from the same spot at the same point on the map. It was like a trigger. Walk to the ladder and bring on the horde. Cross this road and let the kills begin. It was like they put a line on every level and when you crossed it the same thing would happen!
game was on total rails! So are most FPS's thou

This game will blow the doors of the PS2 KZ

- melee made the AI go stupid.

- Worst. Sniper. Rifle. EVER.

- On The shuttle level, sometimes the switch that let you into the shuttle didn't work, keeping you on the stage and forcing you to reset to play possibly the hardest level in that game over again.

- The Helghast rifle/machine-gun was an excellent concept, but you could only load one gunshot shell at a time with auto-reloading on the spot: which on the multiplayer, meant insta-death if you missed.

The great things:

- The music was some of the best in a last-gen game. The only games that are equal are Halo, Star Wars games, god of war games, and Castlevania games.

- The story was one of the better writing on games last gen.

- The cinematography was pretty good.

- The AI was pretty good, and would do things like go to the other side if pinned-down in a spot, and would shoot in groups or even out the gunfire on multiple targets. If K1 was co-op, it would've been awesome, but since your allies can't die, the point is missed on most people.

- The levels were impressively large for a PS2 game. You would expect games on the first XboX to be so big and detailed instead of the flimsy PS2.

- Multiplayer is pretty good. I (still) play as DED if anyone remembers killing me a bunch of times on there. You still have people playing on it, so if you rent/buy Killzone 1, don't bother to go on. Those people have that game honed to perfection. You're just a stain waiting to happen to them.

All in all, I'd get it if you can. I bought mine and didn't regret it. The good far outweighs the bad.

But in truth, I liked Halo 1 better. Halo 1 was a classic.

Halo 2 and 3 let me down, but still the halo series is not bad at all. :D

i must have beat that game about 5x it was pretty kool who think Luger should get her own stealth action game.....her behind enemy line in the helghan invasion sound pretty kool concept aren't it

To say that killzone 2 will be bad because killzone 1 was is stupid. If I remember correctly the GTA series wasn't held on a pedestal until Rockstar went 3d in GTA3. A lot of improvements have been made over the original. The ai has improved, the bugs are nearly non-existent, and they've added a lot more to the online portion. They've basically fixed everything that was wrong with the original while adding more content.

I liked Halo 1.

But i didn't like the enemy, they looked kinda childish, all colourful etc. and making stupid noises.

Other then that, was a good game.
