MMO Racism?

IncGamers are reporting on whether racism is present within videogames and how class choices, especially in MMO games, can result in racism.

Citing the Nerd Nite presentation held last week, IncGamers asks whether or not this is a little bit ridiculous.

Exactly. No gameplayer is even thinking about a game being racist or sexist until some fool bring it up and then everyone gets angry. Just don't bring it up.

there's definitely class bias in MMO's, but racism based on fictitious races is new to me...

This is stupid. Dark Elves in WoW are a very powerful race. Most of the bigger badass characters don't even resemble humanoids in many MMOs and come in the form of dragons/wyrms.

If FFXI, the Dynamis Lord is black and requires an alliance to take down. None of the little white characters could possibly solo him.
So, one could conclude black = extreme power.

In bowling a black ball knocks down all of the white rednecked pins. In pool the white ball knocks all the colored balls off the table. The point is you can create racism where it doesn't exist if you try hard enough.

Keep real racism in the real world. A thread like this just looks to spread hate. It's silly. It's stupid. It should just stop.

Life is Life, the world keeps turning rather your crying or not, life was before us and life will be after us, stop making this a big deal. Its only as big as people who talk about it and live and die by the idea of a racist world. Are there white that dont like blacks? Sure, are there Blacks that done like Whites sure, does anyone care, No. Get on with Life

Dark and Light have always represented evil and nice, thats from the start of time, that doesnt represent something humans came up with, when society was formed called, racism, those ideals of evil being dark came long before we got together and thought we were smart.
