Faster Processor Means Less Battery Life For Nintendo DSi

The Nintendo DSi has a bigger screen, a better processor and an SD card slot, but one thing the DS Lite (and the humble DS Phat) still have on their younger brother is roughly one to six hours of battery life. And now it looks like we know why.

The Japan-based Bunnie:Studios blog (via Gizmodo) decided to tear down the DSi and have a look for themselves at why exactly the DSi needs so much extra juice.

Hmm while it's never good to lose battery life I think it'll still hold onto it's charge a lot longer than the competitor.

nintendo continues to demonstrate that they don't care about us "traditional" gamers.

how many half-a** systems do we have to get before we get a REAL next ds?

And am I the only one who is tired of buying nintendo's handhelds when they are new only to get screwed over a few years later?

Dear Nintendo, stop releasing prototype handhelds and release the good one FIRST.

They already released the "good" one, the DS Lite. I bought mine about 3 months ago. Unfortunately, now Nintendo has released a new version that I have no plan on getting. I'm happy with my current DS and original model PSP.

Do you people think or read at all before you respond to me? Let me break it down for you.

I LOVE my ds lite, it is amazing BUT I bought the DS on day one and was quite sad to find out it was nothing more than a hunk of gray junk a short while after the release of the lite.

ALL I WAS SAYING is that I hate how Nintendo updates their handhelds three times instead of just making the first one good enough so that you don't have to buy the same system with a few new features.

Sorry I'm apparently not as rich as you guys.

And by the way, I already have a PSP, but thanks for the advice.

Whats with everyone attacking me for no reason today?

I agree with you dude. I don't think Nintendo should do that. I don't agree with Sony doing it recently with the PSP either. I have 2 of them, one for homebrew and one for keeping up to date to play the latest game. Both are original models. I have no plans to buy another DS when I just bought one a couple of months ago. As such I'm not buying a third PSP when the ones I've got are plenty good enough for me. I've even got the stamina battery Sony recently discontinued.

Yeah I was kind of annoyed when I found out Sony was doing it with the PSP, but the slim and the 3000 are not nearly good enough upgrades from the original for me to buy one. The DS lite was sooo much better than the original though haha. But not that I have a lite and an original PSP, I won't be buying anymore of either unless it is a completely NEW system, not an upgrade.

And yeah, one day I accidentally updated my PSP firmware, never saw SNES games on it again... ;)

Sorry I was kinda snappy, didn't sleep enough last night hehe.
