Rumour: New Team ICO game won't be shown at TGS08, new Halo game a cert

VG247 write: We've now been told this three times in the past 24 hours: Sony will not show the new Team ICO game at Tokyo Game Show this week.

Our sources are solid, ladies and gentlebeans, so put your faith in this one.

Do keep your eye on the Microsoft keynote, though: that Halo Bungie "rumour" is getting firmer by the second.

Can't say I'm surprised SotC took forever before they decided to show it, and this one is on the completely new and hard to program for PS3, the thing about team Ico's games is that they wouldn't be so great if it didn't took so long to make them.

Could this possibly be a shame to get people off the scent? I mean if I am working for Sony and said that we are showing 9 new games. Ico will not be there, so it would intrege me more where these 9 games are being built. I would just lie and say no they are not ready or part of the 9 new titles. Then Bam! end of confrence oh one more thing, trailer opens SOE and Team ICO credits and a huge teaser is shown.

I find that hard to believe..Shuhei Yoshida himself said they would show Team ICO's game very soon.And that was like over a month ago.

So why wouldn't it be at TGS? Well..i for one hope it'll be there..

As for the Halo announcement.I would be more surprised if they Didn't announce something to do with Halo..

Maybe the Japanese are really starting to warm up to these types of games? Heck, one of the games recently announced by Tecmo is a Third Person Shooter.

....I don't know anymore.

This is either:

1. Sony likes keeping things secret till the last moment for surprise effect.

2. Sony will give team ICO the time they need until it's ready for presentation.

Either way, nothing has been promised as of yet, other than the 12 or 14 unannounced games. 9 of them being PS3 games.

A "keynote" is short for a "keynote address". It's kinda like an intro speech where the company in question (MS) will be outlining the important details and new products that will be present at whatever conference they are attending (TGS). Think of the speeches each of the big 3 gave at E3.

last year's conference was really underwhelming, IMO. Though to give credit where it's due, there are a lot more games on tap this year than last year...

If it's not going to be revealed, that means it's not one of the 9 PS3 games so we have even more to look forward to. Also, if sony shows off ALL the "secret" games that we know little about, but we know they exist, then we've got no announcements to be hyped up about for next year. After all, we know the team ICO game is coming anyway.

This rumour has been around for a while. I think it would be stupid for Sony not to it seems like Team ICO has enough control to decide on their own when to show off their titles. Maybe tgs 2008 is not the place.

15 - I know this is late but...
To all those who seem to be under the impression that Trico needs to be 'gotten ready' to show publicly - it IS READY TO SHOW. It's been shown internally at Sony, you don't do that with games that aren't developed enough to show fellow games programmers. Also, it's more than likely been shown behind closed doors to games journalists at either E3 and/or GC (the people who saw Heavy Rain at E3 behind closed doors saw other unrevealed titles as well). Again, you don't go showing games to journalists unless they're likely to impress said journalists, so the game would have to be fairly well fleshed out and presentable.

I'm not buying any excuses of 'the game needs further development' as 'further development' isn't going to radically alter the game concept such has already been shown to other divisions of SCEE. no, it's good enough to show to programmers, it's good enough to show to writers, and it's good enough to show to us. Sony haven't got ANY good reason not to bring it out at games conferences, they're just being spectacularly retarded. I mean this ****teasing must have been going for almost three years by now.
