you know what, i have to agree to disagree. Halo 3 was good (had a lot of fun online) but the story was so bland for me. Resistance Fall of Man had go a little closer to the Single Player more then the Online itself. R:FoM had a good Mulitplayer modes but it didnt vary as much as Halo 3. The thing is that Graphics is what matters in the 'Duel' its more of a duel who is going to keep their top spot for FPS games. Right now it looks like R2 is going to go ahead and make the game more deep with the new 8 player co-op with separate story and such. R2 just needs to work with the Graphics.

Either way I don't really see Resistance being better than Resistance 2.

Comparing the main xbox exclusive to a PS3 launch title doesn't really seem fair. Why not just wait for R2 and compare those?

@laMs12 - But how does that make sense? How many people have actually played Resistance 2 in its entirety? I don't think anyone has played enough of it to rank it as lower or higher on the scale of greatness with Halo 3 and Resistance.

I was just pointing out that the comment made no sense. Plus, if he enjoyed RFOM more than Halo, I would assume his preference would be for the sequel to the game he enjoyed most. I can't make logical sense of it.

I highly doubt it. At least more than half of people who own a 360 bought Halo 3. And that's not to say Resistance 2 will sell bad, but Halo is that popular. And it's Halo 3 ;)

Thats a pretty big statement - Halo is HUGE. All 3 Halo's has been met with nothing but great reviews...Resistance 1 has had some good reviews buch not so much as Halo. Now you are putting R2 up against the biggest Name in gaming history. As much as i would like to see R2 do very well on the PS3 i don't think it will be met with the same sales/reviews as Halo 1/2/3.

Halo is a word that doesn't just bring out the 360 fanboys and the Halo fanboys...The name alone also brings out the Sony fanboys as well...and i can assure you that if and when the Halo movie comes out - there will be just as many PS3 fans in the audience as there will be 360/Halo fans.

4 - resistance vs halo3

firstly, i'd like to say that to this day i play both games!! i feel like resistance is a very underrated game, and it's single player, though feeling a little rushed and needing a little more polish, definitely beats Halo 3. however, while resistance is very fun online, i like halo 3's maps better, and the online community as a whole is better with halo 3. again, i feel like resistance was rushed, but resistance 2 will probably be much more polished. halo 3's online play is outstanding, but i didn't like the single player all too much

the weapons in resistance are way better than halo 3's

Resistance had some unique variations to the FPS genre, but Halo 3 was and is the total package. I can almost guarantee on average per week there are more people playing Halo 3 online than Resistance.

The one thing that both sucked at was the story. I hated the end of Halo 3 and thought that the gene modification story of Resistance has been played out to many times.

I liked resistance much more. I like the scale, weapons, story, and overall feel more. Halo is fun, but for me, Resistance was above it. I know sales of Halo dominated it, but that doesn't matter to me. If I liked Halo, i would have bought an xbox...

8 - Stupid comparison

Its Halo3...bear in mind, its only Halo3 because of the inclusion of more vehicles, Bungie had two other attempts in a previous gen and had the formula right for multiplayer right from Halo1 in splitscreen and even had a lead character with great appeal and familiarity.

Comparing a new IP from a developer that primarily made AAA Platformers before making and having the pressure for a first party FPS launch title? Bah, stupid. Not fair. Bungie more or less always made FPS, Resistance was a brave move for Insomniac and it paid off.

Although I would say that I enjoyed the campaign mode and most of the weapons in Resistance more than Halo3, because Halo3 didn't really offer much different in arsenal from the original and didn't even come near to beating the sense of adventure in Halo1 and even the graphics didn't change much from Halo1 to 2, to 3. Instead Bungie insisted on focusing on the engine and the multiplayer section.

Halo3 was a personal disappointment (what was I expecting after '2, I guess) and discovering Resistance was a bonus.

What would make more sense is comparing the multiplayer modes of Halo3 and Warhawk.

We know all the people living in their little false realities are gonna disagree. That's why in these situations you just gotta get ignorant wit em. Just say look at the score, More sales,(actually a lot more sales) played more reviewed better, game over. These are facts undisputable. Anything else is opinion.

My Opinion is that nobody else should even comment on this article since we know Halo 3 already killed Resistance and Resistance 2 won't do anything close to what any Halo 1 2 or 3 did.

And as we see more comments pop in just shows how much an opinion is worth.

Since when has sales meant anything? By that kind of thinking WiFit and brain training are the greatest video games ever made.

Like anything else, games are subjective, so to pretend that things like metacritic scores and sales numbers are all that matter means you are simply a programmable human computer. Maybe you consume what the media tells you you must, but many of the rest of us have varing tastes and don't consume media fashion. Many of the greatest games ever made didn't sell tons, while a hyped title like a Transformers or Batman game can sell millions - it doesn't make it a more worthy game.

As for the games, I don't play FPS titles online much anymore, so on the strength of the campaign alone, I far prefered RFOM. I actually think the comparison would be closer for my own tastes if it compared Halo 2 - which I thought was a superior game.

Not that it matters, I didn't hate either title and got enjoyment from both. I'm pretty certain I'm gonna love Resistance 2, and I'm chomping at the bit along with everyone else to hear whats coming next with the Halo franchise..

I think people can decide for themselves which game they like best. You are not the authority on which game is superior, you're just some nobody on the internet who thinks he is.

Like titntin said, it's not sales and numbers which make a game great, it's personal opinion. And Resistance 2 will do exactly what Halo 1,2, and 3 did. It will offer an enjoyable multiplayer experience, but it will also have a good campaign mode with a good story.

And comparing Halo to a game that hasn't even come out yet, and declaring Halo 3 the victor, reeks of fanboy (whether you call it your opinion, or not).

I never finished either game....only spent 7 minutes or less with Resistance....was playing Halo 3 multiplayer, but my Live gold subscription ran out......so right now, they are both dead to me. Perhaps I will rent Resistance again...to see if I can get into it.

puh-lease. resistance is a great franchise, one i wish i had on the 360, but compared to the halo series it doesn't do well. as good as RFOM was, halo 3 is the standard to which all other FPS games are compared. for me, it is the the most refined FPS experience available on a next-gen platform. (halo:ce is the most refined FPS experience available on last gen platforms imo)

Good joke buddy. Everyone knows Halo 3 sucked a$$. How could you call Galo 3 a AAA title. 6 out of 8 of my friends who bought Gaylo 3, traded it, in the first week. The game doesn't even look like a M rated game, more of a E rated sh!t. But you are right about xbox being the only consol capable of making AAA titles such as Infinite Undiscovery and Too Human.

How can this @sshole compare graphics? its a game that came a year and a half from resistance 1, aside he said its unfair(if it is so unfair why even bother putting it just tell that "this category does not apply and move on).

And online? of course it would win every game has tendency of ripping of the things that made other games great halo did that too.

The funny part is Story wise Resistance Wins, in weapons too, and in characters also, so is practically he is saying the single player was better at Resistance 1 than in Halo 3.

In the end you want a fair match why don't you compare halo 3 multiplayer against COD4 and see who survives?

Man you are tool, to think that sells defines greatness, I played both games I finished Resistance and I couldn’t finish Halo 3,because it sucks, Halo 3 has nothing to brag about, average gameplay ,mediocre graphics Resistance is way better then halo 3,Gears of war is 100 time better then halo 3,

I Thought people knew this already, so to sum it up
Numbers do not tell you how good a game is, here is
an Example, if That game is advertised ALLOT it SHOULD sell well right?

Or what if that game is the only FPS/RPG etc that will be out
on that system for the next several months, that should sell
well to right?, what about the fact that at least for the Halo
franchise that is the XBOX's mascot title, so in other words

Halo combat evolve(Didn't change the genre at all, just was a good FPS)

Resistance had a 12+ hour story with very good, detailed graphics. It also had a huge variety of enemies and the action set pieces where completely insane.
It also had a very fun multi-player aspect with 40 players in one game.
Not to mention, the weapons where the best thing about the game. You could shoot through solid walls, shoot out force shields and tag onto enemies.
And to top it off, the game was only a launch title.....................Oh yeah it also supported 720p "native" resolution.

Halo 3 had a boring 6 hour story, with PS2 visuals and sub HD.
MicoSoft and Bungie knew that people would buy the game no matter what so they just decided to make the game sub-par.
And to think the game came out just as the 360 was entering it's 3rd year where as Uncharted (Which was a visual wet dream) came out as the PS3 was entering it's 2nd year.

Halo 3 actually has some graphical style, and some awesome HDR effects, never mind the resolution consoles struggle to do 720p these days.

Playing Resistance coop me and my friend kept hoping there would be some set pieces in it, but the repetative AI made that very hard.

Halo has some of the best AI in the FPS industry, simply said you won't have this much fun in any other game. Call Halo over hyped all you want, if it weren't for it there would be no decent shooters on the consoles.

I pick Halo 3, because I actually want to have fun not obsess about quantity.

Did you play through the Chimeran conversion centers or the Chimran tower at the end of the game? Those levels looked awesome. Did you see the detail on the Chimeran soldiers you fought in the game? Very good I must say.
Plus man do not forget, Resistance 1 was a "launch" title yet still looked absolutely brilliant.

I mean't the only graphical appeal is in the textures, because it looks so bland at times, and yeah I played through the whole thing with my friend on coop in HD, wasn't too impressed with the graphics, launch title or not.

Err, what. I don't have to admit anything, I couldn't care less what resolution it runs at, I know I'll be playing it in real 1080p soon enough when it comes out on PC.

i prefer halo3

graphix on halo3 1080p look very colorful and amazing especially in single player! which i like more better than resistance

even though resistance has more people i think halo has always been king in multilayer. and yes i know there are other good multilayer games out there!

there are more features in halo3 which makes it a plus!

They compare Halo 3(biggist game on the xbox) and resistence(launch title). The guy gave 3 points to Halo 3 and 2 points to Resistence. So this guy is saying Halo 3 is one point better than a lauch title that took one year to make. LOL
