Now you can see the idiot pricing of Rock Band 1 for $AU520 compared to the new 6ogig SKU for just $AU499. At least we get the SKU's now .

2 - I wish Microsoft licencing wasn't so painful!
I'd be tempted to get this 60 gig model and sell my Halo console but I know from previous experience that all my previously downloaded content will be useless offline. I'd have to be plugged into the internet all the time for my purchased arcade games and extra levels and gamerpics to work, and that's just too annoying.

Great price though!!!!

2.1 - They fixed that months ago mate. ;)
You can transfer your licenses from one 360 to another so it's no longer an issue. http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/s... :)

You can even watch Major Nelson give a layman video guide! lol

You might have to buy one after all ;)

But that's true of everything really. We can't expect companies to rebate us when they upgrade product. Or change their Hardware as they improve it. It's just a calculated risk in retail life really.

A friend works at Apple, so if she knows of anything likely to change soon (they are always told last - that's just how it is) she tells customers that if they don't mind waiting, then they should as here could be a new hardware release soon

This has worked in her favour, as customers have come back rather than goe somewhere else that would just sell the item (current stock) to them with no worries. Thing is, in gaming hardware, it's hard to say when something may well be released. or have a price drop. It's all speculative at best. It was suggested that Nov would be the time the 60 gig unit would drop, and here it is early August and we have them already.

SO you just have to grin an bear it mate, it's a fact of life that is true in every retail area.

I'd like to say "yes" since it's just a laptop hard drive in a plastic case... so I will. It's completely compatible, same with any 360 peripheral.

looks like us real gamers get screwd once again. well theres not really a need for 60 gigs but with this thing of installing games onto the hdd and improving performance and to not strain the craaptacular dvd drives it seems a must do thing.

No you can't - so that screws that. MS have done a decent job on making it that way. Unless you're a hoorder or music hog, you really don't need monster HDD's. The 360 basic design is not as a storage device, but a hub as a MM channel which plays games.

If you have an iPod, or any MP3 palyer stacked with music file, run it through the 360, it's what it's designed to do. DO you need to sore every DLC and demo or even Arcade game . . not, not really. I have the 20Gig HDD, it still has around 9.5 gig available on it atm, and it works fine, yet I own over 40 games which have seen their run on the machine and a decent amount of Arcade games.

My movies are DL on my Mac which works seamlessly with the 360 to watch them on the TV using Connect360. Same goes for my music. Again, stored on the Mac's huge HDD . . no need for it to be on the 360 as well as the Mac . . none at all. I can even view all my pics stored in my Pictures folder on the Mac through the 360.

SO the only real thing I need the 360's HDD to do is store game saves, Arcade games and DLC that goes with the games I own. When I'm finished with a demo, I delete it, If there's a Game vid I want to DL, then I watch it, keep it, then get rid of it. Why keep something I might never watch again for some months, if at all.

If I do, I can re-DL it for free anyhow. It's great they are adding the 60gig HDD, it will help a lot as a sales push, it will help in the US and Europe, but in all honesty, do we really need it here. Not that I'm complaining, as it's great we are getting it. But we do not have the Broadband to support HD movie playback over thenet, not NetFlix etc.

The Falcon MM's were/are notthe ones with the isuues, that was the earlier Mother boards. The newer one have even less return that what is considered normal for hardware returns in the industry.

I have friends and staff at both Game and EB's and they all say that their returns for the newer models is almost negligible to say the least. The new Opius Mother board will be out by the end of the year, if not already being included with this new batch of 60 gig run.

That mother board will be replaced with Jasper by mid 2009 and then Valhalla will be in the new x720 come end of 2009 or early 2010. Which has a unified GPU and CPU and sports a bigger processor.
