Articles like these are always welcomed. Positive insight from classic consoles that helped shape the industry.

Unlike those crap articles from Bruceongames which is obviously anti-sony every damn time.

N64 will always remain one of the most important consoles in history. Too many innovations that help shaped the industry where it is today.

2 - N64 is probably one of the greatest consoles of all time, imo.
It's such a weird machine to be honest, but that's why I loved it.

4 - yep,
a lot of my fav games of all time are 64 games, which is weird, 64 sucked mostly for 3rd party, but Nintendo had some great games, plus that was the rare golden age, yep, they don't make em like they used to.

5 - It was a great console
I loved Blast Corps, that is one of the most innovative games I have ever played, I wish Rare churns out something better unlike Kameo or PDZ. Too bad Wii is nothing like the N64 was back in the days.

Yes, GoldenEye, Mario64, the controller definatley helped change gaming. If nintendo would have used a cd instead of their proprietary cartidge things would have ended up a little diffrent.

Game on...

I have 5 us rgb converted N64's such is my love of this machine.

Worth owning an N64 for Goldeneye alone but certainly many other titles justify the purchase of an N64

I was very happy to have jumped from Playstation at the time, Goldeneye, Waverace and Goldeneye made that a perfectly pleasant switch and i never looked back

Oh nuts i meant Zelda

Actually while i'm here:
Pilot Wings

Battlezone(i'm sure it's great on pc but it's still one of my
absolute faves on N64)

Goldeneye

Perfect Dark

Mario64(of course)

Conkers(not a great game to be fair but funny and well worth experienceing)

Blastdozer

Zelda Ocarina(first real 3d virtual world where if you saw something in distance, you could get to it)

Zelda Majora(Many people gave up on this one i guess but it's insanely brilliant and unique)

Diddy Kong

Starfox

Just these games alone are worth getting an N64 if you have yet play these great games.

9 - The N64 made me ditch Nintendo.
I grew up with NES and Genesis. The N64 was a disappointment. I haven't bought a Nintendo machine since.

And the games, out of curiosity were they too a disapointment?

N64 did after all have some staggering games. Was it the lack of RPG, fighting and Car games that fed your decision because i'm quite the opposite considering the best that was Nintendo 1st party games and a lot of what rare did.

Despite not othering those said genres so much and less of a catalogue, the best of what Nintendo had back then was of a much better quality than anything certainly Playstation had.For greater choice and in particular RPG, PS won every time but it never came close to offering an equel FPS, Zelda or Plaforming experience

Did you move onto Playstation as a result?

The last console that i have bought before a wii (Ps2 was a gift).
This console have brought so much things to videogames.
BEST idea was the analogy stick, the Z button in zelda (the lock was awesome ).

The only game I really truly loved on N64 was Mario 64 I never liked the 64. It was cartridge based when it should have been disc based and because of that the games were far more expensive and not counting Nintendo's first party games not worth the price. The cartridge also had massive draw backs hence the reason Square ditched Nintendo for Sony and the CD the PS had. Personally I hated the controller but that's just my opinion I know a ton of people who love I guess it's just a matter of taste. The SNES is still my favorite Nintendo console.

yet again almost factually accurate but the
Dual Analog controller from Sony was released almost 7 months sooner then the N64 controller.

15.2 - sorry no not a joke ^_^
Notice the word "dual analog" not dual shock and no it is not a joke the dual analog was released 6 months sooner then the n64.

Oct 1995 for Japan release of the dual analog (announced aug 1995 JP)
N64 release date June 23 1996 Japan.
the dual analog was released in NA after the N64 release date in Japan but the N64 was released after the Dual Analog was in peoples hand.

gah wish I could correct the months (where oh where is my edit button)
The dates are correct so the difference in months is actually: **9** months earlier for the Dual Analog to launch in Japan (but in NA the N64 hit before the Dual Analog)

The best are always (at last almost) those who sell the less.
OOT, Mario64, Goldeneye games who define an era.

17 - I loved my 64
Still do, sometimes play Super Mario 64 for some good fun.

Too bad though, that most sequels from the best games on the n64 were never as good. StarFox 64 was the best out of all 3 games, or 4 idk. And Super Mario 64 was amazing.

ZeldaOoT Was amazing also
