Okay, Half Life was superb. I rememebr playing that, but HL2 was in comparison, nothing. It didn't break any new ground, the only thign that saved it was the awesome narrative, and it does have that. It was a letdown if anything.

And to be honest the physics weren't totally innovative, it was done by Tresspasser soon after Half Life. And boy was than an awesome game. Boobs, physics and dinosaurs all in an FPS = Win.

Kigmal and Solar, I think you guys need to go back to the open zone with PoG and the lot.

For me, I already played Half-Life 1 & 2 on PC, where they belong. I had fun with them, and they occupied my time quite nicely, but I do think it's kind of a slap in the face on valve's part for not doing a good job (or any job for that matter) on the PS3 port, instead shipping it off to EA, so that Gabe Newell can invest more time in being quite possibly the world's best impersonator of Jabba the Hutt.

Gabe has made it blatantly clear that he's a fanboy (or fanJabba) and it makes him look like a real asshole (almost to the degree of Itagaki), and that's my only problem with the situation. If they genuinely felt that deving for the PS3 at the time was a real issue, they should've just said so, instead of being a total Twinkee Annihilator about it.

well I gotta say, his weight certainly helps make for creative ways of exposing his asshole demeanor.

Simply put, he was calling the PS3 a piece of junk within weeks of it's release. And yes, I understand he is a dev, and therefore has a somewhat immediate knowledge of how he thinks hardware will function, but the only reason I'm ripping on the guy is because he's a total d!ck. And what has he REALLY done for the gaming community other than Half-Life (and it's variants)?

To me, he seems like a real fanboy pr!ck, and deserves to be dealt with as such.

And these PS3 brats of which you speak of...don't put me in league with them, my arguments always have a valid point.

No one disagreed, with me, becuase I am right.

What Did Half Life do? A lot, and I rememebr playing it on PC, and it was superb, I still have it, just not installed.

But Half Life 2 and all it's episodes, they aren't milking, as such, but they are certainly becuase of story alone, and the story IS good enough for that. It's a great story. But it's not like they have refreshed the series at all. It just seems lazy, without the PS3 version to mention.

Portal was great though. But correct me if I am wrong but Gabe Newell was not involved there at all.

Anyway, Tresspasser was an awesome PC game,t hat came out right after Half Life, and had physics akin to Half Life 2, infact, more complex.

HL2 is the most boring FPS with one of the most uninspiring main character and tacked on and non exsistant plot. Also the puzzles feel tacked on, i will say though the characters are very lively and charming but other than that i don't see the big attraction to the game. I don't understand how people can say it's one of the best games ever when in my eyes it isn't. It's average. It's no Deus Ex or System Shock 2. Hell i'd even go so far as to even include Portal on that list (even though it's very short).

This is just a terrible company. I can understand that PC is where there market is but sometimes they should listen to console people too.

ONCE AND I REPEAT ONCE they establish the code, it will be a piece of cake to make the game but they are too lazy.

I agree, I'd rather see this on the console than the PS3. I liked HL2 (not to death) but it wasn't bad. However the only games I really intend to play on PC are FPS/MMORPG's only because simply put, single player games are left best to console I feel.

It would be nice to see this game on the PS3 but it's not a big deal if it doesn't make it because...dun dun dun...it's not exclusive if it goes to PC.

I've always heard about HL before and then came HL2 but still I didn't care because at that time, I didn't even have a PC. at the time when I got my PS3, I got TOB as a present and you're right! the only one I am interested in is Portal and that's it! I tried TF2 and I think all of you knew what's bugging that game and I stopped playing it after several plays.

then I tried the 1st HL2 even though I have no interest in it(and yeah, since I got it for free). my impression; hell that game is BORING! I came half way and never had the interest in finishing it ever again, let alone going to play ep1 and ep2. and I was wondering, "what is so great about this game anyway?" I love FPS and heck I've finished R:FoM 3 times and CoD4 2 times and lots and lots of online with those games but still wanting more.(spare me because I've never played any FPS on any console before I played R:FoM)

I know this is more a self preference but I agree that HL2 is among the most overrated, over hyped game! It's not even that great and say what? no ep3 for PS3? fine for me, I don't care and nobody cares! PS3 only owners can always get it on PC anyway!

p/s: I would've trade it for other games if it's not because it was a gift!

Follow the software, not the hardware. There are too many companies I love to invest my loyalty in Hardware. If you only own a Playstation 3, you won't have to worry about Boycotting Valve, they don't make Playstation 3 games. So there's no games to boycott. The Orange Box was an EA effort, not Valve.

Specific devs prefers specific platforms to work with. Valve is no different. The are comfortable to work on the x360 as i read is basically the same as the PC which they are good at. All devs have their reasons and what they are willing to live with. Its not all about money anyway. Money is obviously very important but there are alot of other factors too like working relationship, specific console strengths they feel will suit the games they are developing. Some devs like Kojima is really about art and pick the console they fell will realise their vision. Others will pick the one that they know will dominate and last longer to maximize their investment etc,etc.

Perhaps you could contact Insomniac or perhaps Naughty Dog they don't seem to be all that interested in developing for the 360, they seem quite content to make do with the limited sales on the PS3. Yet the minute a developer shows no interest in developing for the PS3 out come the flaming torches and banners screaming "unfair".

It is no surprise that Valve has no interest in developing for the PS3, the orange box did not do spectacularly well on that console and they have decided not to bother. At least Valve gave the PS3 a chance, unlike Insomniac and Naughty Dog.

ND is a Sony first party studio. With Insomniac, Sony helped them alot with their development when they first began and they are use to Sony tech as well as having a great working relationship according to Ted. None of these two bashed the x360 though unlike Gabe.

I see what you are saying cmrbe whether Gabe bashes the PS3 or not, it is up to him and his company what platform he develops on. Some PS3 users just "expect" the game should be on their platform. Yet at the same time they enjoy the fact that Sony and their developers restrict access to their games. I think that smacks of double standards myself. I also believe Naughty Dog haven't been quiet in slagging the 360 off, I clearly remember them saying the 360 couldn't "handle" uncharted. How do they know did they try, did they even bother ? No they just spouted the rubbish their pay masters told them too. For the record I think both consoles are equally awful this generation so I show no favouritism. Valve clearly prefer developing on the 360 and PC and that is their right, but to see PS3 owners going "wah wah don't like Valve now" is pathetic.

I was just commenting that Isnomanic and ND are bad examples that you used as ND is owned by Sony and Insomniac owes Sony alot. Valve i think was never known as a exclusive dev i mean they even put half life on PS2. So imo Value and the situation with Insomniac are different. As for Orange box. It takes two to tangle. From the outset Gabe really didn't want anything to do with the PS3 but they still went ahead and release a port to the PS3 which according to many PS3 owners is buggy as hell. Valve should not expect good sales if they are not willing to do quality work and i am gald that it bombed to let devs know that PS3 owners don't accept bad ports. As for Sony and their devs restricting access to their exclusive well that their right i am you wouldn't expect MS to release Halo on PS3 right?.

what i DID say is that all major developers and publishers that are not owned by a console manufacturer or heavily influenced by them "moneyyyy" are dropping the exclusives and releasing it for every console available (say like alone in the dark - ps3,360,pc,ps2,wii)and since the ps3 is based on parallel processing (and since future games and apps on the pc will go that way, some already are) it always seemed strange to me that valve, quite the pioneers in pc gaming and rightly so, have taken that approach to the ps3.

Doom 1,2,Final Doom are some of my all time favorite games...

I didn't get to play Half-Life 1 when it originally released, our home PC was incapable of running it...it wasn't until 2001 when I bought a PC for college that I finally got to play it...and it was great, but looked pretty dated by that point...

Half Life 2 was awesome as well...and severely wrecked Doom 3 imo, but I don't even count Doom 3 as a worthy anything...that game sucked...and sucked bad...

Ill be getting this game off of steam to complete my hl2 collection. I lived and breathed hlf 2 for so long also with rewards of counterstrike source and all the mods to go along. Pc is where this game belongs.

This is the true bonus of having a pc and a ps3 you can play all xbox and ps3 exclusives without owning an xbox.
