Capcom, Sony, Media Debate Possible Reviewer Neglect Of Downloadable Console Games

Once in a while I hear about the release of a new downloadable game - a new XBLA or PSN title - and I look for some reviews of it. Often, I don't find much.

Downloadable games for major consoles are, across the board, reviewed fewer times than disc-based games. This is an issue people in the games industry and the media are aware of, and for some, it's a frustration.

does it really matter though? Especially when arcade games are rated and reviewed like a full price disc game? The few reviews I've looked at about arcade titles on XBL or PSN have been very harsh on some of these very solid Arcade Games. A few have got the praise, or close to it that they deserve but most get idiotic comments like "this game has very little to offer." Hello! These are arcade games. They're not suppose to offer the same things retail games offer. When reviewing arcade games they need to take into account that they are just that. Arcade games and review them accordingly. These are $5-10 titles that are new, console based gems. And often I think these reviewers play the game for 10-30 minutes and decide that it's crap. often you have to play some of these titles for longer than that to enjoy the true beauty of them...

Not that it matters to me, but yes, more emphasis needs to placed on reviewing arcade titles...
