5 Flaws That Grand Theft Auto IV Suffers From

Let's face it, Grand Theft Auto IV is arguably the best game ever released. Since it's April 29th release it has sold over 6 million units worldwide and has made more then $500 million in the first week. But even though the game has shattered Entertainment records and has became one of the best games ever, there are still some flaws. This feature is to describe the subtle flaws that many gamers experience but often get to deep in the game to care about.

1 - Yep
Agreed.

They could have done a better job with the audio. Sometimes its hard to hear people talk on the phone when your in the car.

OMG... I would have given the audio a 1000 out of 10 if possible.
It is the best audio I have ever heard in a game.
People can just adjust the settings if they have trouble hearing what people say.

Most of these are dead on. Take .1 off it's 10/10 score. :P

The game is great, these are all minor flaws.

If by best they mean undeservingly hyped last gen type game then yes I agree.

3.1 - well said
At least someone had the balls to say what we were all thinking.

Can't believe you didn't get disagrees from those swept along by the hype.

This game is a step forward visually, but a huge leap backwards in content.

I actually enjoyed saints row better than gta4, you had more freedom and you could rob any shop you wanted.

3.2 - Im not going to disagree with your opinion but
I feel it is a more refined version than any of the other GTA games. The game is now how I expect a GTA game to "feel" instead of look. Also, half the things you could do in the previous games, like rob a store, you really wont do over and over again anyway. Why rob a store(which if you want, you can rob the TW@) for a few hundred, when you can do a drug deal for a few thousand.

Certain things like delivering pizzas, don't really fit Niko's personality anyway. The only thing I would have enjoyed more would be the ability to rob banks.

They actually had some good points about GTA 4, especially the filler missions; most of them had 0 to do with the actual game itself.

I'd like to add some of the missions actually drive a person into cheating - those of you who did the Bank Robbery and the mission "SmackDown" know what I'm talking about.

4.1 - the game isnt that hard
you just need to look for health dude the bank mission i did only twice you just need to move up slow if there's allot of cops the game is good and they said they were gonna do things different thats why im not as disappointed as everyone else is besides no missions where some one drives and you shoot is totally lame

5 - over rated game
I don’t know how the f#%& u say GTA is next-gen game!!!! I’m really disappointed with what they made, it’s really piece of $hit, come on u call this a game!! I had much fun with the last game even it was in the PS2.
This game is over hyped and it’s really deserves 5/10 maximum.

5.1 - How do you say it is not a next gen game
it would help if you support your opinion better.

Personally I loved every GT game, and I love this game as well. I also don't read into hype. I read into what interests me and my tastes.

6 - I disagree with a few of them.
The only two major issues I am having right now are of course:

1. The music is lacking, they should have reused some of the tunes from the previous games especially Vice City, or they could ahve added more and better Classic Rock and New Wave tunes.

2. I hate the E - break because it does not help at all, it makes the road turn into ice as my my vehicle slides all over the place whether it's a dump truck, sports car or a moterbike.

I totally agree with the music. They need a better rock selection. SA rock music was awesome.

As for you other comment. That's what would happen in real life if you just pulled the hand-break. Your suppose to use the main breaks and tap the e-brake. Go into GT and try to e-brake around a turn like you use to in the other GTA's.

Call me blind but I have only noticed 3 pop ups in about 14 hours of playing. And 2 of those was during the opening cutscene.

Yeah, I've encountered 2 in about 30-40 hours of playing the game. Both in the same place gunning it from the end of one of the bridges to the other, through the toll booth and then the road texture disappears for about a second then returns. Happened twice but only when max speed on a bike.

he says GTA has filler missions, yeah, maybe it does, but, we get payed and since when wasn't it fun to murder random people?

Against GTA4 i agree with him. Though the only time i've had pop up happen is during multiplayer sessions with some buddies in the single player i haven't encountered one yet. Also is it just me or is the volume in cutscenes low along with voices on the phone even though the music and car sounds are loud. It's weird.

10 - All Good but...
This game is NOT the "greatest game ever". This game doesnt bring anything new or revolutionary to the table. "Greatest game ever" title belongs to games like "Mario 64" "Zelda" or even GTAIII. When GTAIII was first released it blew my mind. Damn that game was fresh and different. But Damn, I cant say Im not enjoying GTAIV.

Soo like.. whats with all the GTAIV hate? People saying it deserves a 5/10? HAHA, sorry, but... you're wrong. Just for the effort put into the massive game, rockstar deserves a 9.9/10. And they're not even claiming it's the best game ever, so don't think rockstar are pompous or something. It's the gaming media hyping up the game. Rockstar themselves just did the thing they do best: a new GTA game game. And that is fantastic for anyone who likes the series for other reasons than jetpacks and katanas.

So please, quit hopping on the lame cool-to-hate-gtaiv-and-act-lik e-you're-not-impressed bandwagon. It's really getting tiresome.

Quantity of quality isn't a good thing my friend.

" a new GTA game"

You mean gta 3.5 again.

"So please, quit hopping on the lame cool-to-hate-gtaiv-and-act-lik e-you're-not-impressed bandwagon. "

Ever stop to think some people just don't like broken game play systems, and the same scripted repetitive missions they've been playing for almost 7 years.

No I expected them to fix their broken game play system by now to soften the blow. I play video games to feel like a bad ass action hero, not an uncoordinated string puppet. I might as well be playing the sims.

If you don't understand what I'm saying here A. You haven't played many games or B. You're too blinded by hype to admit the game play sucks big time. Things like this ultimately ruin the fun factor of a game, and by now you think they could have gotten it right. I mean systems have come, and gone, and isn't this supposed to be the "next gen" gta experience I've been hearing so much about? Ya thought so.

Man everyone is so hostel.

I have to say I agree with you poeo...

We gamers can be a funny lot sometimes.

Games like Halo etc get slated for not doing enough new and only being a .5 mark up on the old gen games. Then gta comes along and R* said they were going for a different approach, and then everyone is going on about how it’s not like the old ones...

Has anyone gone back and played them. I played a little bit of gta 3, vice city and san andreas all night before it came out.

Everyone has an opinion, but come on, to say this looks last gen... Let’s be fair here. possibly the only open world game that looks better is assassins creed, but look at what happened with the game play in that game, now that is a real example of visuals over game play.

go and play saints row again and tell me GTA 4 does not look better, yet people didn't say that looked last gen, or how about crack down ?

Sure it’s not perfect and I think the "greatest game of all time” is more of a personal thing.

Sure there are things I miss about the old gta games and I hate to say it (as much as I think Saints row was a rip-off) but I even wish it had some features from that as well.

but with everything from the lighting to the physics and the detail that has gone into the city, right down to every last little corner in some back alley, R* deserve full credit. This is by far one of the most engaging games I have played on the current console gen and I have not even touched the multiplayer.
