Why Crisis Core is on PSP, not DS
9
From the interview: "Square Enix is a firm supporter of both handhelds, with a number of great titles available on both Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. However, why was (arguably) their biggest game developed exclusively for PSP, instead of the more-popular DS? Pocket Gamer talked to producer Hideki Imaizumi and executive producer Yoshinori Kitase about exactly that: "Yes, there are a lot of DSs out there - but does that mean that our products sell in relation to that? That our sales grow with how many DSs or PSPs there are out there? It's not really the case."

Because it's FFVII related so that'd make sense that it's on the PSP, considering Sony published the game in a lot of territories.

The DS can't handle FF7 Crisis core graphics, it's a fact. I haven't played any game on my DS that looks anywhere near as good as FF7:CC, Zelda is very good but still not on par with PSP capability.

Also that the FFVII series was established on the PlayStation consoles. I would assume that they were targeting the audience that grew up with said brand.

4 - Just like he said
I think its just as he said, there is a more teen-young adult population for the PSP. The DS may have more units out on the market by a vast majority, but units sold doesn't automatically guaruntee that a certain game to that large population, you have to look at demographics of owners; espeically when a large number of people with DS are younger kids and older adults (not saying that there isn't a decent amount of teen to young adult demographic on the ds). Plus, as you pointed out FFVII was for the PS and I think that most people that played FFVII for the PS wound up sticking with the sony PS brand over time and thus FFVIII: CC was more likely to sell better on the PS.
Plus as someone pointed out above...from what I've seen so far the PSP is graphically superior to the DS.

7 - Obvious I thought
They want power to fufill their visions and half of DS owners are girls that play nintendo dogz and would never look at this game.
