Lost Odyssey - The best JRPG yet for the 360

If you're anything like Gameplayer, you'll pop the first disc of Lost Odyssey into your Xbox 360 and start the mantra, "please be better than Blue Dragon, please be better than Blue Dragon..." Yes, Hironobu Sakaguchi (the creator of Final Fantasy) and his new Mistwalker team are at it again, ticking all those fantasy RPG boxes and ensuring that all the cutscenes are long enough to make you want to go to the toilet.

It's Final Fantasy in sheep's clothing, once again. But it's a damn fine looking sheep.

Talk about not giving credit where credit is do. It is not only best JRPG for the 360 it is the best JRPG for ANY next generation system! And its little brother Blue Dragon is number two on all systems. These two are WAY ahead of everything else. Only thing that has a chance against them is Final fantasy XIII. This game is like Gunstar hero, everywhere you go (will not everywhere, but most places) you see average scores, but the actual players are giving it much higher scores. It is easily the best RPG I have played since FFVII but then again I rally like turn based JRPG's. It looks like the people that rated gunstar hero where influenced by other reviews. And reading the average reviews especially the ones that say its the same old story(what rpg ever had stories like these?), or it's not next gen, you know they are influenced. Question what is a next generation JRPG? It seems when you break it down to the changes that they want the JRPGs are not 'action rpgs' Now I want to know. What retard decided that being a 'action rpg' made you next generation? Last time I checked Action rpgs have been around as long as turn based rpgs. Think outside the box. Stop being a drune!

Yeah it's a good game, but it's not as good as your saying. The have been better RPGs since FF7 than Lost Odyssey. Although Lost Odyssey is a very good game, almost like a FF clone, but to be honest the gameplay graphics are like very good PS2 graphics and the FMV graphics are much much better.

It's about 10 hours each disc and the 4th disc is longer because it has most of the side quests on it.

This game is GARBAGE!!! I played this on my Sega Genisis back in 1987.

Reasons why it is Garbage:
1. The story makes no sense.
2. The other members of your party turn invisible when you walk around.
3. You can't see the monsters coming for random encounters.
4. You can't change your appearance.
5. More of the dialogue is still TEXT!
6. Fighting the same end boss twice to make it harder! Come on, that is pathetic!

These problems were present in 1987. I expect a lot more now. Bioware fixed all this garbage years ago. Why is no one following suit.

5 - It was a good game...
I started it on my gold account and couldn't finish it. I then brought it to my uncles house and finished it there. it's an OK RPG but nothing to write home about.

6.1 - I didn't click disagree
but i'm on disc 4, leveling up to fight the final boss, & i've never owned a PS2. I generally don't like turn based. I'd rather lose a fight because I actually make a mistake, not because the computer decides I "missed". The pacing of the battles is quick enough that it doesn't annoy me. Very good game.

I curse every time one of those dream memory sequences comes up!! I feel obligated to read them because I don't want to miss part of the story, but oh my f-in god, so much damn reading!!

Lost Odyssey is an excellent game and all the haters need to be quite for they would love it if found on another console easily. The story, fighting, characters, abilities all work and feel just right.

First off RPGs are my favorite genre, and honestly Lost odyssey is one of the worst RPGs I have ever played because of its mediocre feel. The story is completely one-sided with no plot twist whatsoever. All the characters are uninspiring with some really awkward voice-acting.

Everything in this game doesn't feel right the entire game just feels wrong. Especially in the game-play department where they have a system that forces you to play with the entire party. This game is so below mediocre it isn't even funny. I have a personal hatred toward it because I hyped, bought, and beat this piece of crap.

11 - hmm Level 50 70hrs in Disc 4
I'm having a blast, best "Turn-Based" RPG I've played since FFX. Thoguh not perfect, then again I have not played a perfect RPG, in terms of every aspect of the game.

Too bad, if your an RPG lover and only play other consoles other than the 360, you'll miss out on this one. Of course you have , let me guess, FF13 next year.

This gen 360 got some good RPGs, Last Remanant and Infinite Undiscovery is next on my list.

Skerj Above, I played eternal Sonata and for me it was a bit too easy. One thing I hate about "Action Based" RPGs is that you can easily run past monsters unlike "Turn based-Random" battles which makes it more fun IMO. I beat Eternal Sonata in 30 Hrs. yes to each his own.

Just glad the game is more fun than the reviews are giving it. I'm also glad that Xbox 360 fans are mature enough not to hate game websites and pulications for their own perceptions of the game. Instead they've proven it with thier dollars and game mind share. Everything I've heard about the title has been great. look forward to playing this game in late May/June. I'm holding out for GTA4. Had way to much work to do, so I couldn't jump in earlier.
