First Shot of SNAKE-EYES From G.I.JOE Movie

Ainticool writes:

"Hey folks, Harry here... Got this emailed in by Larry Hama, mastermind behind the badass version of G.I. JOE that Stephen Sommers is translating into a huge feature film due out Summer 2009. What Larry sent over isn't a grab from the film, but the first released publicity shot of Ray Parks in the SNAKE-EYES costume. What I love about the shot is that they're trying to get across that SNAKE-EYES is a ninja with a gun. As for the character - will they get Snake-Eyes right in the film? It looks like it. The film does have the whole Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow origin - the vow of silence - and the revenge theme that was at the heart of Snake-Eyes. And frankly - I think the combination of realizing the character and its origins is why Larry is excited about this image. That... and he wants that first replica sword. "

Nothing to do with gaming, but awesome nonetheless. Hopefully they keep the Snake-Eyes/Scarlett romance subplot in the movie.

That is the cartoon version. The more accepted, by fans, comic version is Snake-Eyes and Scarlett.

Yep. I used to be big on Transformers too. The movie disappointed me. Hopefully GiJoe Live Action doesn't fail my nostalgic expectations.

Seeing as how to pretty much stuck to the comic book look of Snake-Eyes, I'm pretty sure they'll keep Cobra Commander similar to his comic counterpart.

i can't imagine what the movie would look like, if they stay true and follow the plot of the cartoon series then the movie is going to suck, big time...

There is always someone complaining about how Hollywood is going to ruin their childhood memories again. Please, even though we loved them all, if you dare watch Transformers, Thundercats, or even the Superfriends again you'll realize how crappy they really were. When Hollywood makes these movies they usually do more good than bad. For example:

1-They fix things that are just retarded. (Megatron shrinking into a little gun).

2-They show today's generation that their Power Rangers is a cheap remake of our Voltron.

3-A man in a bat-suit seems perfectly natural as Batman was portrayed in Batman Begins.

Yes, we've had our share of bad one's, but it's the price we pay to relive the excitement of waking up early on Saturdays to catch all the cartoons.(Especially for those that didn't have cable.)If you don't agree, then don't watch the movie. But, for the rest, it's freakin' awesome!

Well, well said my friend! Bubble for you my friend. It seems there are way to many haters out there that could not be satisfied with anything. I actually thought Transformers was an excellent film for what it was...a Hollywood blockbuster targeted towards the mass market.

I couldnt agree with you more. I do not want to watch movies done as the comics/shows were back then. This is a different time and they need to be updated. These nerds who complain about their favorite character not having the right shoes or hairstyle is getting ridiculously annoying. Grow up.

12.3 - i agree with you 90%
yes when you go back and watch GI joe , thundercats ... they dont hold up (except Voltron thats still bad ass). i do however think hollywood shouldnt stray to far from the look of the source material. for instance here, they nailed snake eyes. the suit is a little to clean, (it should be worn down from use) but other then that they stayed with the original concept but changed it a tad to fit into todays world. I think Optimus prime was a smart move also, Long nose trucks look so much more bad ass then snub nosed ones (flames or not) and they needed to cahnge the design cause they had to have every peice of the real truck look like it can transform and not just fold over or disapear. they also need to get good actors for these things, im sorry but marlyn wayens is gonna ruin this movie for me. i will just go to see the snake-eyes vs. storm shadow fight then im leaving. then ill buy it on Blu ray and put that fight on repeat and watch it straight for an hour and a half and pretend that was the entire GI joe movie.

And god i cant wait for a bad ass Voltron live action flick.

oh and storm shadow needs to look like this

Is it just me or does it seem as though the world has jumped into a time machine and went back to the 80s, since alot of stuff that has been coming out recently are from the 80s lol

Its because the people of the 80's are now the working people of today. These people have money to blow on movies like these that take advantage of our youthful memories

16 - Agree...
That is a very good point pandaboy99. I think it also has to do with the lack of originality in many of today's mediums for the sake of profit. For example, look what has happened to the music industry. It seems like every hit is followed by 10 other artists trying to cash in on the successful beat and rhythm of the original. They especially sample the classics. Thats why most of the time I skip the middle-man and go straight to classic rock or old school hip-hop. Even today's youth appreciates the classics, just look at the success of both Rockband and Guitar Hero. So I'll ride this DeLorean until the flux capacitor falls off.

22 - This looks sooooo -
sick.

I was a GI Joe addict growing up. I always wondered when/if the "guys and gals" would ever make it to the big screen and judging by what I see from Snake, I must say that I'm quite impressed thus far (wonder if his trusty Husky will be in tow? 8D). Not unlike the Marvel universe (which Marvel brought all of the Hasbro creations to life anyway) I always wondered why no one tapped into this world sooner!?

I mean it's a virtual endless world of characters, spin-offs, and storylines that captured an entire generation: People like The Baroness, Zartan, Flint, Stalker, Tripwire, Scarlett, Storm Shadow, Lady Jaye, Dr. Mindbender, Serpentor, Sgt. Slaughter, Dusty, Law, Firefly, Zarana, Gung Ho, Alpine, Barbecue, Bazooka, Beach Head, Breaker, Spirit, Clutch, Cutter, Doc, Dialtone, Torpedo, Wild Bill, Leatherneck, Lifeline, Iceberg, Lift-Ticket, Quick Kick, Wild Wiesel, Roadblock and of course Cobra Commander & Major Bludd! I could go on forever literally....(and I left so many out) Imagine the games -- the games!! *stoked by what I'm seeing and reading*

Bring IT on!

They have ruined GI Joe by making it a global task force instead of American. Liberal commies ruin every thing.

23.1 - So who exactly are the liberal commies? -
Hasbro or the Producers?

btw - As much as I hate that it's not a "Real American Hero" anymore, I think this decision you speak of is based more on fiduciary concerns rather than any political/ideological motivation. They want as much money as possible and a world audience can & will supply that funding. Yes, Cobra are the terrorists (and always have been), but instead of just the Americans fighting them it will be more like a coalition of the willing.

PS - liberal commies is often seen as a classic oxymoron, i.e. the former Soviet Union and Red China are anything BUT liberal.
