Alabama Citizen on Trial for Murder: "Video Games Made Me Do It!"

Andrew Lackey, 24, of Huntsville, Alabama is on trial for the murder of an 80-year old widower that happened on Halloween of 2005. The victim was found lying in his own blood in his living room with at least seventy stab wounds, an eye gouged out, and a gunshot wound. He faces either the death penalty or life in prison if convicted. His defense? "Video games made me do it."

Actually I think we are misled on this. The kid probably didn't think that at first. But his lawyer told him that it was probably his only chance to escape death row, so the kid had no choice but to believe it.

The lawyer is the one that produced this accusation, not the kid.

He stabbed an 80 year-old man 70 times, gouged out an eye & shot him, but didn't "intentionally kill him." I do believe it's time we start sending attorneys to the chair with their clients because that argument if completely absurd.

70 times?? I mean, that's horrible... but 70??

I can't imagine a person sitting in one place stabbing a dead person 70 times. Even if it was in rage, I doubt you would continue to stab him.

If this guy killed some poor old woman, why isn't he blaming it on Halloween? A holiday all about death and disfigurement means its just as likely. Oh yes, that's why, he was motivated by noting except for that he is a sick SOB trying to save himself from being plugged into the mains electricity supply.

I bet his lawyer told him to blame it on a video game so he can have less time in the slammer.

14 - I hate when
people give videogames a bad name. Some people are not right in the head to begin with but to blame video game is the lamest excuse everrrr. People need to raise their kids right and not neglect them. The TV is not a parent/babysitter.

Nothing is your fault. Nothing at all. It's society, or games, or music, or television, or something.

If video games caused violent behavior in people this country would have millions of violent crimes linked directly to video games.
