Teen hires 'hit man' after parents confiscate PlayStation

"In Leonardtown, Maryland, a 17-year-old boy admitted in court Friday to trying to hire a hit man to kill his parents after he reportedly became angry at them for confiscating his PlayStation. According to police, Cory Ryder, 17, told the mother of one of his friends that he wanted his parents dead. The woman contacted authorities and detectives decided to set up a sting. Ryder was told to meet with a police officer posing as a hit man at a hotel. That's where he offered the undercover officer his stepfather's new pickup truck as payment for killing his parents," the article states.

whats wrong with people? this type of things give bad rep for the game industry

Vespertine6017d ago

And it gives Jack Thompson another reason why games should be banned. It just sucks theres sick people out in the world, this kid didn't have to do this, but he did because he probably has a miserable social life. I'm just glad he didn't use his sick mind to plan out a school shooting, just because his Playstation 3 (?) was taken away.

Omegasyde6017d ago

Wow. He is going to get messed up in prison.

WAR_MACHINE776017d ago

unfortunately he probably won't go to prison since he's being tried as a juvenile

TruthbeTold6017d ago

A kid punching his Mom in the face over Halo 3, another kid arrested for drawing violent Halo 3 stuff at school, and now this in the span of less than a week? Why don't these parents KNOW their kids? They ought to know their 17 year old by now... If they did, they'd know he's unstable or potentially unstable and not the type to get an addictive entertainment source for him in the first place. Gaming was obviously this kid's life, and his parents took it from him, and he acted accordingly with his fubar priorities... Crazy Kids + Retarded Parents = Media field day
I'm sick of this crap.

ry-guy6017d ago

Apparently they did know their kid in this case and he had a history of bad behavior. I suppose it was the last attempt to try and straighten out the kid. If the parents didn't know the kid, why do you think the mother pressed the judge to try him as an adult? They know how screwed up the kid is.

DeckUKold6017d ago

last month a boy killed his older brother over losing in a videogame match

TruthbeTold6017d ago (Edited 6017d ago )

...then what are they doing getting him something that he'll go nuts about if/when they take it away? It's a free country, but man, should everyone be free to have children? I'd like to think that I'd never have it any other way, but this is ridiculous.

Jandre026017d ago

you saw what the PS3 did to that baby in the commercial now this? Its just the beginning.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
