Rumour: Half Life: Episode 3 to be revealed at E3?

When Gabe Newell walked into the stage last night at the GDC Awards, he being his usual self left the audience guessing by showing a rigged and fake BSOD(Blue Screen of Death) error as his last presentation slide. While being the head of Valve, it was not a random joke that Gabe decided to pull off and that error screen actually contained a cryptic message hidden in it.

I hope not. F*ck Half Life.

Why?

Don't buy it if you don't like it. Loads of people love half life, sadly the world doesn't revolve around you :)

badz1495187d ago

too afraid to move forward there, Gabe? I'm happy to be proven wrong!

Better episode 3 than another freaking left 4 dead game with new maps for 60 bucks. Im dying to find out what happens after the dramatic cliffhanger ending of episode 2, i wanna go see the aperture science ship borealis stuck in the arctic, seemingly the key to the whole plot.

No doubt source will have a bunch of generational upgrades at least for PC, Episode 2 brought in some enhancements i expect the same with Episode 3. The big question for many of course, will be if it makes it onto PS3. If valve have any sense left at all it will.

nycredude5187d ago

I just hope they don't reveal that they will start working on it. That would mean we wouldn't get it until at the very least 2016 or something. Valve sucks balls. Too cheap to hire more talent. Must be spending all the revenue on steaks and donuts.

Noble Spartan5187d ago

His just can't take it as Half Life destroys all PS3 fps games.

Killzone 2
Resistance
MAG
Haze

Can't wait for this to come out, Its been long time. Going to be amazing. Hopefully they have also made a new source engine.

PainisCupcake5187d ago

Always makes me laugh when people say we're going to the Arctic, we're not going to the Arctic we're going to those snowy mountains we saw in the distance in EP2

Eamon5187d ago

Ah please. Trolls should go that way --->

Half-Life 2 is probably one of the most original and iconic games ever made. It stands with the champs like Super Mario Bros, Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VII.

Wait, why I am bothering to reply to you. You're probably one of those retarded little 13 year old nerds who have never played instant classics.

ProjectVulcan5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

Judith Mossman finds the Borealis in the arctic. Its an icebreaker after all. Whether the player actually goes to get on the ship remains to be seen but i consider it highly likely after Eli Vance urges Gordon to destroy it, coupled with the fact we know aperture science somehow interlinks with the half life universe

PainisCupcake5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

Who says she finds it in the Arctic, just cos its an icebreaker? How could Mossman get all the way to the Arctic from Eastern Europe in such a small time? The Borealis disappeared remember it wasn't sailed somewhere deliberately, most likely due to teleportation. We are going to the snowy mountains in the distance North of White Forest.

Cenobia5187d ago

You forgot to list the 360 games it's better than...

Like Halo, for example. Or is that not your OPINION.

ProjectVulcan5187d ago (Edited 5187d ago )

Permafrost everywhere. Its an unknown location, constantly cold. Also you havent seem to have looked at the models in episode 2 by clipping and seeing that the ship seems to be half buried in the side of an iceberg/shelf, along with judith being inside a facility either on land or on a shelf. How COULD she get to say, the arctic? She heads north specifically from the white forest in a helicopter. Its a game, we cant expect perfect continuation so try not to pick apart every tiny detail.

Im telling you what we know. All you and me, we have, is speculation. You telling me what the plot definitely is isnt particularly bothering me unless you work for valve....we will see where the plot leads Gordon. You know no more than anyone else outside of valve

PainisCupcake5187d ago

This has been discussed to death in the Steam EP2 forums and yes I have seen the ship half in the ice shelf thanks. Plus e-mails received from Mark Laidlaw on the subject seem to help lol

Shouldn't it be Half-Life 3 instead?

-End statement

Raf1k15187d ago

Half-Life 2 is supposed to be followed by 3 episodes just as Valve stated back in 2004 or whenever it was. That would be why.

I'm assuming Half-Life 3 will be worked on later with a new engine.

PainisCupcake5187d ago

Half-Life 3 is not in development Gabe has said so.

Eamon5187d ago

raf1k1, I'm actually hoping Portal 2 and HL2: Ep3 will be using new engines. Since they've been in development for ages now.

Raf1k15187d ago

That would be great but I don't see them bringing out a new engine before HL3 just as with HL2.

This year will be an over Kill and leave Sony droids in dismay. Here is why i think 2010 will mark Sony's downfall.

Halo Reach

Gears of War 3

Splinter Cell Conviction

Fable 3

Half Life: Episode 3

Natal

If i was a ps3 owner i would bail out and jump in and start looking forward to AAA games only playable on xbox360.
