People forget these things come with a 1 year FREE Warrenty. Seeing how he's gotten it replaced 12 times and the 360 has only been out 1.5 years... It's likely that all if not most of those exchanges were free of charge.

In closing, I am on my 3rd xbox and I have neer had the ring of death issue.

My first 360 died due to a surge with my cable company that killed the Newtwork Adaptor. MS exchanged it with a repaired 360 that had a problem reconizing my wireless controller( turn time 3 days)

I returned the 2nd and got a repaired system( turn time 3 days)
My latest system is awesome and I have had it for over 1 year. I am happy with how MS has handled me. Sony completly ignore my first dead ps2 and psX. Remember when you had to turn you psx on the side after 3 months of use Did Sony ever address that? I had friends that used rubber bands to keep the flip up lid down. These are all problems that plauged the 1st psx but no one cared.Why

I know you're not likely to believe me, but I'd like to throw my 2 cents into the figurative anecdotal pile. At work today we had at least 4 360 returned on my shift. (8.5 hours) There could likely be at least 1 more from the morning shift. I didn't sell a single 360, but I had to exchange out a minimum of 4.

One had a harddrive failure, the other had 3 red lights, the other had garbled, loud, scratchy sound output, and I didn't find out the reason for the fourth.

I would estimate that at least, at the very least, we have to exchange out at least 15-20% of our inventory of 360s every month. After a while, I feel bad after having to explain that an extended warranty is almost necessary.

And the obligatory flame bait: I have only seen one PS3 returned in the last 7 months, and one phone call with someone having issues hooking up the sound to a projector.

This is an interesting theory I am going to propose. Regardless of who you [think you] are, if you go through 3 or more systems it may, just possibly, be something you (yes you) are/aren't doing.

To the guy who had 12 systems break, I laugh at you. I am on my first since launch and keep mine on 22-24 hours a day. And guess what? When/if it breaks, I will attempt to locate what possibly could have caused the problem. Then, when I get a replacement, I will be sure to do everything in my power, based off of prior/current knowledge, to prevent the problem from recurring.

I'm still on my first Xbox360, i play it around 2-3 hours a week and it freezes sometimes (not a huge deal for me, as a reboot fixes the problem and it doesn't happen alot) and it automatically gets 3 red lights whenever there's a power shortage (even for a breif second) but that can be fixed by unpluging and repluging the power supply.... However i have 6 friends that has xbox360s (one of them has an elite) and **all** of them has had to get it replaced, 2 of them has had it replaced twice. The difference between me and them is that i probably play the 360 the least out of all of them and my 360 is actually a core system from launch. Everyone else has either an elite or premium or has upgraded. My point is, anyone looking past this and ignoring this problem has a "minor chink in the armour" is not in the right state of mind. If i pay 200+ dollars on a product that regularly breaks down (whether it's sony, Nintendo, MS, a TV, camcorder or PC) then there's a problem. and the problem isn't with me it's with that company. No one should be defending any product that breaks down this much. Microsoft needs to fix this problem, and they need to do it fast.

Here is how I see it.

If any device I buy brakes that many times on me, I would simply find another alternative. I mean, what's so bad about the PS3 that people are willing to get 11 xbox 360 instead? I'd go through 11 Xboxes too before I went to the competition, simply because of the game lineup. Bladestar, I think that is the reason that people are willing to go through a few systems (if it's true) - the superior game library. You won't be playing Mass Effect and Bioshock on other consoles.

But the thing is, not everyone prefers that lineup of games. I like the games offered on the 360 much better. There are a lot of great exclusives that the 360 offers that the PS3 does not. And vice versa...people just have there preferences, and if you like PS3's upcoming lineup better, than by all means get a PS3. I'll stick with the 360.

Also, a lot of people, dare I say the solid majority, have had great experiences with the 360. It's a great system. It works great for myself and my friends. I do believe that there is an issue with the 2005 and first quarter 2006 consoles built, but I believe that they have been mostly resolved. My early 2006 console had a bad disc drive. MS replaced it for free, in a timely manner, and my 360 works perfectly. It even runs at a fairly cool temperature.

He is on his 20th xbox360 that is really insane..i would of gone crazy..xbots keep on sayin he replace the 360 free of charge because of the 1 year warranty..but its just the pain in the a$$ and the hassle to send your 360 for repairs just to have it break down on u again..and how about if the warranty expired? i bet you his goin to get charge 140 dollars each time and that ranks up a lot of money..he said thats where the game is at right now..well there some truth to it..but in one year the ps3 will have a bigger library of games..so i wonder whats his goin to do when he realize there is other options..

I can't believe that he put up with the console breaking that many times. Right now my console is in for repair, and if it breaks when I get it back I'm getting a PS3. I'm not gonna have patience with Microsoft.

Why wait!? you don't have to. If you live in the US you can sell it to me! I'll give you $150 once you get it fix. The 360 is a piece of crap and the PS3 is better. I only need the box. I don't need hard drive or anything. That way... I have a replacement just in case.. and all you would need is another $350 to get a PS3. PM me if interested...
