Every single point he makes is 100% valid and backed up. Nothing is a BS excuse or remark. Sure he gets kinda mad and loud and sure he may be a fanboy but it didn't mess with the point here. He even added a big video montage at the end to prove his point so there is no BSing here.

I agree 100% with what was said. Valve does make great games. I mean Half-Life 2 and it's episodes are some of my favorite games out there but they do have BS and hypocritical excuses when it comes to developing for the PS3. Alot of people would be less mad at them if they just came out and said. We just don't want to develop for the PS3 and that's how it is. Instead of coming up with all these lame excuses. I mean their remarks about the PS3 being a failure and being to hard to dev for is downright insulting to devs like Insomniac and Naughty Dog among others who have made incredible games.

UBI, EA, Rockstar, Naughty Dog and many more devs/pubs do third party exclusives on the platforms they like. It's ether your fanboy feelings got hurt in some way wich is just sad, or your pissed about their games not going to the PS3. YES Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, QD, etc. make games exclusively for PS3, and the 360 crowd doesnt complain about that.

But if one day Naughty dog were to say, "We dont make games for 360 cause their community sucks. They're a bunch of immature children, and we dont cater to that kind of crowd."

Everyone of you hypocrites would be in these threads talking up a storm saying Naughty Dog shouldn't be talking sh1t about a whole community (20+ mil ppl) of gamers.

Now...these third party developers are making games for the PS3, and when asked why they dont make games for the 360, they make what PROFESSIONALS call a statement that's in accordance with good PR.

So instead of saying, like Valve did, The PS3 community of gamers is far less evolved than the 360's, they dont know what they want...blah blah blah...

A professional would say something like, We're comfortable with the way SONY is taking care of us and at the moment we have no plans to develop games for the 360.

The 360 owners keep coming in here saying PS3 gamers are butt-hurt and what not...but that couldn't be farther from the truth...

VALVE is not needed on ps3, they develop primarily for PC, and thats where their games are best played.

PS3 has 20+ independent studios making games around the clock, VALVE's games are hardly a dent in our library of games.

The problem is Valves ATTITUDE and inability to structure statements in a way that they wouldn't sound hostile toward a whole community of gamers.

You guys can keep saying our feelings are hurt all you want...it really doesnt change the fact that VALVE are unprofessional in the way they carry themselves...and those of you that support them ONLY support them because you're playing L4D2 on your xbox and feel somewhat superior (even though your Xbox has had a very dry run in '09 when it comes to exclusive games).

Keep supporting Valve.

We all know M$ has them in their pocket anyway, that's no secret.

I just hope other developers dont decide to take a cue from Valve and start making reckless statements, because I like to support devs that respect themselves as developers, and the consumers as their bread and butter.

A developer like Valve that shuns a whole 25+mil users is only hurting themselves in the long run...because when they DO decide to start making games for the PS3, (which they wont cause "Teh techture is too difficult...duuuuuhrz...) they'll be far behind the rest of the Devs that already have the Tech on Lock, and even if they made a decent game, a lot of gamers would not support them.

PS3 is my favorite console, but I think a lot of fellow PS3 gamers are blowing Valve's comments way out of proportion. Their comments haven't been nearly as inflammatory as some make them out to be.

They said the PS3 was hard to developer for, but that is common knowledge. Lots of developers have said that, so why jump on Valve for saying the same thing? The fact that Naughty Dog and Guerrilla and other developers have made amazing games for the PS3 doesn't mean that the console isn't harder to developer for, it just proves that it can be done. Now, that doesn't mean that every 3rd party developer is going to find it in their best interest to tackle the hardware.

I also don't know what people are talking about them insulting the PS3 community. That's silly. I read the comments they made on the subject and I didn't find them offensive whatsoever. I don't completely agree with them, but it was a simple opinion and I don't think it was offensive.

People need to stop being so touchy. It gets us nowhere.

While people do take Valve's comments a bit too seriously, the fact remains that Valve is the only developer that continues to have problems with the PS3 to this day. They are also very vocal about it. This wouldn't be a big deal if they had either: A) Developed a game for the PS3; or B) just not comment about it. They have done neither. It also comes across as these comments are in response to questions about whether or not they will develop for the PS3 so they come up with bullshit excuses because there is no real justification for them not to other then they just don't want to. Yet they can't man up and just say, "We don't want to work on the PS3. No reason, we just don't want to." If they would just say that, people would respect them more.

There's really no use getting through to them. Trust me, we've ALL tried to. The only reason WHY the Xbox legion likes Valve is BECAUSE they talk sh!t about the PS3. The guy in the video even said that he had played all of Valve's games, named an obscure title from them, said all of those good things ABOUT Valve's PC efforts (despite him criticizing the Source engine), and these people are STILL calling him a PS3 fanboy. Because, to them, only PS3 fanboys who are "bitter about Valve's PS3 stance" would DARE criticize Valve about ANYTHING (as if no one is EVER allowed to complain about their attitudes), and this guy is a part of a PS-centered site. That's the only two "offenses" the man in the video did. That's all they need to know to attack him.

Thing is, this will never change. And we're left to ask how many more of these dumbass quotes is Valve allowed to have before they say enough is enough.

Well, yes. Valve are unique in that no other developer has spoken trash about a console/platform they never even tried to make a game for, have they? Gabe started it off with risable comments about Sony needing to sack the whole PS3 thing when he knew how his comments would look given his MS past and since then the PS3 bashing continued from Valve mouthpieces at a good lick. They laughed dismissively when merely asked if L4D was coming to PS3 and then, unforgivably insulted everyone who games on PSN over why there's no L4D2 PS3. No othe developer behaves quite as childishly and they really should be way above this kind of thing.

Also, I, as a 360 owner, have a few bones to pick with them over L4D and L4D2. I play it on PC to this gay and ebjoy it well enough playing many new mods and after getting my Steam copy at a good, reasonable price. My 360 copy, on the other hand is a piece of crap. Why 360 fanboys stick up for Valve when they CLEARLY only care about the PC is beyond me. L4D 360 is a joke compared to what it is on PC-it's looks worse, runs less smoothly and has no mod support, no community support and way less dev support on 360 yet I had to pay over twice as much! IS THAT the great treatment from Valve that makes 360 fanboys stick up for their silly outbursts? L4D 360 is the worst value game I've picked up this generation and Valve should be getting flack and being forced by 360 gamers to provide the same experience tha PC gamers get-at the very least when we all paid over the odds for a tiny game package which is inferior in every single respect to the cheaper PC version.

The fact that I suspect a lot of 360 heads like Valve purely because they won't work on PS3 and knock both the console itself AND PS3 gamers rather than asking themselves(or more pertinently asking Valve)why their version of L4D is so damn weak is a constant puzzle to me. Valve might slag the PS3 and Sony gamers off at every turn but at least PS3 gamers haven't been ripped off by them this generation-seeing as the godawful Orange Box port wasn't done by them it's still true. Please-can PS3 gamers stop asking for L4D(it isn't coming anyway)as they would only give you the crap they offer 360 gamers and can 360 gamers please get their tongues out of Calves ample butts and see how badly they treat us?

Valve can be great. I like Steam and it works well and the offers and free weekends are a great way of upping sales while treating your gamers fairly AND they make some fanastic games-but ONLY for PC. TOB for 360 was barely OK and only looks good next to the terrible EA farmed PS3 port while I've explained what's up with L4D as a console release-it's poor quality, there's zero community/mod support and less dev support too and you pay much more for the dubious privelege of playing the second division version to boot. Seriously, there's no reason for any console gamer to be all up in Gabes love hole-he nd Valvedon't care about console gamers and 360 heads should realise that before putting their hands in their pockets for L4D2. Check out how superior the PC versions are before doing so at least. Don't take my word for it-see for yourself and stop making out that Valve have any respect for you. Ynless you have a PC and a Steam account you're just not important to them and they couldn't care less about your gaming experience on their games-they only want to get your cash and forget about you. Consoles, they feel, aren't worth the effort. All the PS3 bashing is a smokescreen and it's worked completely in fooling many 360 fans into feeling Valve are somehow on "their" side when in reality they rip 360 owners off mercilessly. They kinda do. Their "true reason and not some PR bullsh*t" isn't applicable anymore. Many 3rd party devs and the obvious 1st devs disproved it long ago. When a studio like Rocksteady can develop on PS3 using UE3 no less, Valve's reasons (to me) just don't seem valid.

Valve is a solo independent developer with a small team.

Valve puts there games out on platforms that will implement what they are trying to do the best.

The Ps3 could run laps around L4D's graphical limit but graphics aren't the case.

If Valve is anything like me they'd know a game like L4D wouldn't survive on the PsN...you'd have micless uncoordinated drones, most games would be pick up games due to the Ps3's lack of a centralized invite system.

A Ps3 L4D would only make L4D look bad.

If Xbox360 didn't have live...L4D would most likely be a PC exclusive first and then ported years down the road.

I have to say it's sad that the so called "gamers" on this site carry on the way they do. I know some of them are just trying to have some fun but way too many of them take this stuff way too seriously.

As for the mods, they clean up the comments occasionally along with passing out a few bans here and there. If the mods were able to be on here 24/7 I think 90% to 95% of the posters on this site would be banned to the open zone.

I kind of agree because I am a PS3 owner but Valve games are best played on PC (I've played Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2 and Left 4 Dead on 360)! If they but their deal with Microsoft then Valve would make more money because of steam and the fact that they don't have to retail it. And it would mean that these articles aren't published! I have The Orange Box and Left 4 Dead 2 and Counter-Strike Source and Left 4 Dead GOTY and I forgot how amazing PC games are so even if the next Valve game comes out on PS3 I'll still get it on PC although I am a console guy I am starting to get used to PC again. the only Valve games I really enjoyed was the Half Life 1-2 and I played them on PC. L4D just isn't that attractive to me. Yes, it's fun to run around with your friends but ever since I picked up Demon's Souls, online play changed dramaticaly for me.

I am hopelessly addicted to invading other rooms. I really hope devs take note of the ingenuity of the MP aspect that is Demon's Souls.

Valve's reluctance do do anything for the PS3 has more to do with return on $$$ spent im sure. Porting the 360 from the PC version is simpler and more cost effective.Their forte has always been a PC which from Valve's standpoint the 360 basically is. So if you have to spend a extra $$$$ for PS3 development to maybe sell 300,000 more copies, probably isnt worth it.

I can understand a company who wants to stay exclusive to one console like Valve to 360 or Squaresoft to the PS2 . But Valve making up excuses on why they don't want to produce for the PS3 I am fine by that I chose my console. But claiming on console is better than another is un proffessional and hence leads to fanboy wars. Let me first ask this, Tor: Are you rushing to Valve's defense because you generally think they are in the right, or do you have another reason behind it? Like I've mentioned before, there have been many inconsistencies about who you'll defend (as in, you would be saying something a lot different if Valve was pissing on the 360 and XBOXU was saying something about them). You seem to only talk down on people if they are criticizing someone who scored a PS3 game lower than expected without good reason or if they criticize someone who talked sh!t about the PS3 (as in, out of nowhere, you appear). If the roles are reversed, we never hear a word out of you. I've been trying to not be critical of you since you did call out the PS3 haters last year (not trying to sound like a fanboy myself here, but I think we have to get this out of the way, so forgive me if I sound like one here). I'm not saying you have no right to call out any fanboy. But you're not being either fair or consistent, and you're calling out the wrong people for the wrong reasons.

Secondly, we paid good money for these "plastic" systems (in this case, would the 360 be a "piece of plastic", too?). We want to be treated equally. We also don't want to be insulted because we made a conscious decision with our money. We have every right in the world to criticize any one we want. That's called freedom of speech. What you're saying is that Valve is allowed to say whatever the hell they want to about the PS3 and trash it however they want to (trashing plastic), but they are not allowed to defend it. Actually, maybe I can see where you're getting at (asking why give Valve the attention they could just be trying to get), but when you spend a lot of money into the hobby, and you have someone talking sh!t about the part of the community you belong to (remember that Chet tried to bring up the PSN GAMERS in his sh!tfest), you have every right to respond in just.

If you're really are going to call out people for b!tching about "pieces of plastic", call out Valve, since they are the ones that are saying this stuff in the first goddamned place. See, thing is this: you're right! They WERE asked these questions. However, what you're not seeing here is that the questions weren't exactly asked in a vacuum (you WOULD have a case in that sense if they WERE). They were asked with the thought of what they have said previously about the PS3.

And it shouldn't matter WHAT type of venue it is when they said it. It came from THEIR mouths, and it was THEIR words. How would the comments mean any different if they did come from a press conference? Would they really have a different impact? Usually, conferences are more formal speak, and you're trying to sound professional. Interviews like what Valve said these things in were more off-the-cuff, candid interviews. You're not exactly trying to impress anyone.

And you're not getting what the entire issue is with what Valve IS saying compared to the example your giving as to something Insomniac COULD say. If Valve only said that "right now, we're not looking at any PS3 development because we want to focus solely on the 360 and PC development", then yeah, some people would be bitter, but the majority of us could deal with that (you're not exactly seeing anyone bashing Ubisoft for making Splinter Cell 360 exclusive. It could be a very good series for MS to have in their belt, since they don't have much else to sing about THIS year), though you have to think they're talking up a timed exclusive NDA somewhat.

But Valve didn't say things like that. They went with the "oh, this is crap", "they should start over", "the PSN community is crap", "f*ck anyone who thinks we would want to create something for THAT piece of trash"! See? THAT'S the childish behavior that you're defending. If they don't want US being "childish", then they should practice what they fooking preach.

And they are not just talking trash about the PS3 (the "plastic" in this), but also the GAMERS that PLAY it. They are insulting part of the exact same community you and I belong to, as well. Valve Just Enjoy making games and the Comment about the PS3 hardware being a disaster was true for a developers stand point, he was making that point because he felt that the hardware would hinder the developers and not promote great game, remember most of these comment happened in late 2006 and early 2007 before any good games came to PS3.

For community comment in some ways valve are wrong but on PS3 nobody talks and the people that do don't have much to say. Mics should have been standard with PS3 as it would of helped, isn't it time we got party chat and cross platform chat these all help for community building.

PC is the best platform for Valve and has always been the most profitable. Love steam, on it every day, can't say the same for PSN or XBL.
