X-Play Fallout 3 Review

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary to nuke the absolute shit out of ourselves, at least we can be secure in the knowledge that the survivors will get to live one of the great American dreams: kicking ass in a post-nuclear nightmare.

Like you didn't know this already

Sez 5682d ago (Edited 5682d ago )

yet every gaming site says the 360/pc version is better. and it will sell better on the 360/pc. but we already knew that too.

Tmac5682d ago

Stuff sells better on the Xbox 360 because of the majority of the crowd are just inferior to PS3 users, it comes as no surprise though. They are just that stupid to buy games in massive quantities, crappy games alike.

Sez 5682d ago

whatever help you sleep at night. keep telling yourself that. ok

LightningPS3PS35683d ago

This game is not a 10/10. It's a good game but too many sites give away a 10 like it's candy.

Yes Fallout 3 is a great game, yes it's hyped. It's not a game that we will be remembering or talking about 15 years from now.

Teknique19885682d ago

well judging from your name lighting and omodis i see your sony fanboys and i understand why you would give this game in your opinion a 8.5 your playing a gimped game on the PS3 that is riddled with problems you wouldnt have that problem on the 360 but i do agree this game isnt a 10 but i think its more like a 9.0 if anything 9.4

badz1495682d ago

there was a guy/girl with LightningPS3 as his username but he/she somehow no longer being seen(at least I'm not seeing him lately) and suddenly this LightningPS3PS3 guy appeared to the scene. I really really wanted to ask him is he the same person or what. but if he is, he's the last person to be called 'PS3 fanboy' as what he always do is bashing the PS3!

omodis4205682d ago

Actually I haven't had any "gimped" problems with my game. Things that would give it a lower score for me things like; Loose FPS controls, A crappy 3rd person view, and lack of tutorials for certain things.
Just by how you responded I can tell you are an Xbox fanboy. I on the other hand only own a PS3 because it is the system I wanted more. And I have always maintained that I will purchase a 360 when its almost dead.
I have a life. I don't have time for two systems at the moment. Also I like the functionality of the PS3, being able to cancel cable because i can just download any show or movie I want and stream it to my PS3 is AWESOME!!!

ChampIDC5682d ago

Let's see, the things you're lowering its score for.

Loose FPS Controls - It's not an FPS. It's not intended to have tight FPS controls. Sorry, but no circle strafing on this game.

Crappy 3rd Person View - I'll give you that one, but all of Bethesda's games have been meant to be played in first person. Third person has always just been for seeing what your character is like. I would like the third person to be more playable, though.

Lack of Tutorials - Press start, go to help, and read a little. Everything you need to know is in there. I had no trouble with things after reading some of the stuff in there. Most of the important things from there also pop up when you need to use it the first time im game as well. Did you just skip them?

I'm pretty sure the game was given 5/5 because a 4/5 on their scale doesn't do it justice. Yeah, it's not perfect, but neither is the 5 point scale.

Firstkn1ghT5682d ago

LMAO. Sony defense force in full effect. Every time a multi platform game is better on the 360 you get the "this game isn't that good anyway" LMAO! Great stuff! :)

Agent VX5682d ago

I was thinking the same thing. When the 360 version is scoring 3 points higher on Metacritic, and most if not all reviewers are saying that the 360 is visually better with an better overall experience, for some reason, the childish fanboys says the game sucks.

Don't listen, do yourself a favor, and grab this title regardless of which system you own. Excellent game, and it always plays better on the PC if you have the required hardware.

Though Firstkn1ghT, expect to get a bucket full of "Disagrees" and a possible deletion of your comments, this site has become a toxic haven for Sony Fanboys. It worse when they gang up on articles that get approved that don't say "positive" things for the PS3, then they spam the mods to get it disapproved.

I thought this was a "News" site, but I guess it has turned out to be a Pro-Sony fanboy hangout. But I guess when you don't have much to play.....

ChampIDC5682d ago

Seriously, a few points doesn't mean crap. Sure, certain things are a little more fuzzy on the PS3, but it doesn't make the game any less playable. Xbox fanboys like to blow things out of proportion, and PS3 fanboys make a big deal like the developers are giving them the shaft.

All I can say is pick this game up regardless of the platform. It IS amazing.

I Have A Confession, I Like The Fallout 3 Green Filter

The game looks too clean without it.

How about you actually SHOW wtf you're talking about

Nacho_Z1d 23h ago

Always annoying when articles do that.

I agree with them that the tv show was a bit on the clean side. They got loads right regarding set design etc but there's room for improvement.

i dont. it hurts my eyes. but im fairly ssensitive when it comes to that sort of stuff.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

ChasterMies26d ago

Some of these low paid video game “news” writers weren’t born before 2007.

just_looken25d ago

Here here

Those that were around before 2000's i am sure are like me that think we entered a world of non readers or those that follow without question.

I can not wait to see fallout 3 a goty game even though it was about water with non content until you add the dlc/updates then you got the performance/crashing

CrimsonWing6926d ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker26d ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing6926d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

Gameseeker_Frampt26d ago

Just about every year in the 7th generation was great and something we most likely won't experience again.

2009 for example had Assassin's Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon Age: Origins, Uncharted 2, Halo 3: ODST, Killzone 2, Borderlands, Bayonetta, and Demon's Souls to name a few.

just_looken25d ago

It still amazes me we got over 7 rockstar games ps2/ps3 but 3 for the ps3/ps4/ps5

Dragon age 1-3 and mass effect 1-3 in 7ish years what a generation.
