High Quality Killzone 2 Beta Sniping Gameplay

A new video of the Killzone 2 beta has just been leaked. This video shows off 2 new never seen before features.

Well, gameplay mechanic...can't believe that. Yeah, Ok, the death anim can be delayed somewhat, but it's a bug if you got shot at from 10ft with a sniper rifle and the corps doesn't take of like a rocket. There shouldn't be any delay in that case. That's what's happening in the video, though. Visuals are impressive, though. Like always.

The slow reaction time to bullets is lag, and not flying across the screen from a sniper shot is pretty standard unless you're playing something with ridiculous ragdoll physics.

Not dying after being shot down is the gameplay mechanic.

Ah, OK. Nah, but it can't be lag, either. Impact happens immediately (you can see the blood), but the ragdoll physics is delayed. Lag would delay the impact as well.

BTW. Can you revive someone who got shot but isn't dead yet ?

Your PS3 renders the blood, because it knows the bullet hit. However, your PS3 doesn't show the dead body until the other PS3 says 'I'm dead'.

The blood is nothing but a visual effect and it doesn't matter if everyone is seeing the same blood splatter at the same time. However, body positions is important and the game must stay in sync, everyone must see the bodies in their proper place, and this can be affected by lag.

I still hope this is not the case, even though what you say might make sense. I would rather adjust the position on the body on the ground but prefer a fluid animation from impact including the fall. Be body on the ground would certainly jump in case of lag, but not interrupt the animation. I know there'll be always an effect thru lag to some extend.

It's Metacritic. Who cares? If you've played the game or watched it online you should know how good it is, and you shouldn't have to go to Metacritic to look up the score, should you? I'm not saying this cause I'm a 360 guy (I'm not - PS3 rules), but you complaining about it just makes them feel better about lowering the ratings.

Now about the game. Graphics and lighting look great as always. As for the player, yeah he could have been better. But props to him for risking getting banned for releasing this.

...In K1, the cutscenes were of very high quality and set the pace and tone of the game well; and since the PSP version of Killzone, I am very confident in GG's ability to make K2 a solid title.

(speaking of Killzone: Liberation, below I have the beginning clip for that game, once again done very well).

Granted, some of the game mechanics needed a little tweaking, but still overall K1 was a very good game. People still play the online on the PS2 (including me).

If I were to gripe about anything, it was

1. The sniper rifle

The sniper rifle on that game was the worst sniper rifle ever in any game. when you zoomed in, you had a limited movement range within the zoom, and if you tried to turn, you'd be knocked right out of it. Whomever programmed that part should be slapped with an old fish.

2. AI went to crap when you went into melee range.

At a distance, the AI was really good, but when you tried to melee, the AI seemed like it got stuck into "close up" mode at times.

After watching that video I'm SO glad that you can move around when Zooming In while you are Sniping because in Killzone 1 you couldn't even move from side to side while Sniping in Zoom.

I would slow the gun bob animation down a bit when he runs to something like COD4's or farcry's. he looks like he's on crack when he runs.

Where's the color? A) This is a war, sorry if they dont look like halo aka power rangers, thats your problem.

As for the R3 aim, you can customize your controls so you can aim with L1 and such.

As for the gun bob animation, I think it's perfectley fine, and Killzone 2 is set to be more realistic, if you have ever carried a Sniper and ran with it (I havent FYI), you would know that it's not just going to go left and right like an arcade game

And the graphics being too blury? Please, your watching a Youtube cam video for crying out loud and this is a beta, and if you have ever played Killzone 2 beta on an HDTV, which you havent, you would realize that the ground textures are really sharp, especially it for being just an early build of the beta.

For the aiming, again, Killzone 2 is set to be more realistic, if you have ever held a gun in your life, probably havent cause your too young, and aim and shoot, you would know that it wont stay in one place and actually is loose looking. For the controllers, I can say the same thing about Xbox 360, their controllers arent made for RPG's.

Ive played the game before in the past and all I can say is this game will own in 2009. It is funner than Far Cry 2, CoD4, Resistance 2, and lets not forget the overly rated Halo.

There is no visual bullet delay in the beta. The delayed death animation is quite random but doesn't spoil the gameplay experience, it just looks odd but no doubt there fixing it as some deaths just look really weird.

The gameplay is excellent and seriously fun to play online.

It has every possibly every option you could want such as clan support, custom create rooms to how you like it, join friends etc.

To say its a beta with 3 maps, I would of happily payed for it off the psn as a full online game seen as it plays and looks so well to say it has a good 4 or 5 months left in development.

As far as the games you've mentioned. None of them have done anything new for the genre of gaming, so check your facts on that. Gears 2 isn't going against killzone2 for a few reasons:

1. Its the Unreal Engine. Multiplatform, and open to everyone. Not a custom engine which ultimately always looks better when developed for a specific system, like MGS4's engine, or Uncharted's engine. Games that the media call the most impressive console games out.

2. Gears2 is an arcade shooter, Killzone2 is more like Hl2 when it comes to stories as well as online features. It doesn't just have a short single player with online where the host has an advantage over everyone else.

3. Gears is a third person shooter, Killzone is an FPS. For FPS's you cant really innovate, remember Halo3 didn't innovate anything that wasn't done before it. Still a great game, but you cant really push the "nothing new in gameplay" card, when no games this generation with the exception of LBP have.

But im sure you already know all of this, and thats why you are scared.

How do you know who's on your team? does your teammates name pop up like in COD? Also it seems to be a disadvantage to be helghast because of the light from their helmets. you could see them across the map when they were sniping

They said that there building a graphics engine for all first party PS3 studios to use (reason why it took a while and why its cost so much, most of the $ was spent making the engine) so i would say its safe to assume that soon a lot of PS3 games will look like this.

the delays in the deaths are iron'd out it looks solid to me...

I know I may be asking for a little much, but it'd be sick to see some kinda physics on the lens covers on the sinper rifle! like some bouncy/floppyness or something. Just a little more realistic touch to the already pretty mastered vibe the game already has going!

PS = Im looking to pre-order Mirrors Edge, the PS3 is the main dev platform correct? cause that is what influenced my purchase for Dead Space for my PS3 over my 360. I prefer to have the sharpest version of the games I play and the main dev platform will influence my purchase. Thanks peeps!

Although this video is pure youtube blurryness, I have to admit this is the first KZ2 video that has really impressed me.

The bobbing is just quite awesome, kindov reminds me how cool gears of war was when you are running.

Plus when you zoom in and out that is totally awesome also, although it adds some reaslistic touches to the game I am glad it still points towards and arcadish feel (something Im pretty sure xbox fanboys will totally bash).

I think the xbox fanboys are already bashing the game because of the dealyed deaths ... but from the looks of it from an honest opinion it seems like its a gameplay mechanic incorporated in the game (so you can be revived like by a medic) Not realistic but arcadish......

Neways my major gripe about all the vidos ive seen is Im not a big fan of kz2 textures ... they dont seem as high res as some other pc fps games ive seen.

But I really like how this game is turning out.

when you get shot in real life you don't die right away if its a body shot, most people don't even know they get shot they don't feel it. if you get shot in the head you die right away, but these guys made it hella good looks so dam good.

I already have 2 PS3 controllers and both don't have rumble. I'd rather have new games than new controllers... I have plenty of current PS3 games that support rumble that would be BA if I just had the controllers for it (1 of my beefs with Sony). This is just another 1 of those games that looks as if Im going to have to cave for a dualshock controller...heh
