Tekken 6 next PS3-exclusive that is coming to Xbox 360?

The rumours about PS3-exclusive games that might also come to Xbox 360 keep on coming. After recent messages about Devil May Cry 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4, this time it's Tekken 6 whose exclusivity is taken into doubt.

According to "sources within IGN" (the same source who said VF5 would come to Xbox 360) Namco is currently working on a Xbox 360 version of Tekken 6, that would appear winter 2007, just short after the PS3-version.

Is Tekken 6 the next exclusive Sony is going to lose and where will it stop? Will Sony have any exclusive important franchises left at the end of 2007?

Ubisoft has been major supplier on 360. They know they sell on the platform. GRAW, Rainbow Six and other games. Sell like hot cakes. Assassins Creed won't be different. Sony has to pay a lot, so freaking very much to pay of for 10 to 15 million gamers on 360 for 2007 as potential buyers for the game.

PS3 exclusives are running low. 360 exclusives will hit an all time high. Multiplatform games are best on 360 confirmed by several independent gaming sources.

If a developer wants to make money on an investment, there better be a 360 copy. It's just business, and with the 360 being this generations dominant console that's where the business is.

You must be smoking. Tekken is the best HAND TO HAND 3d fighting game ever made. If you didn't know how to play and didn't learn you couldn't help but mash buttons. And even then you only got cheap moves with button mashing. You have to learn the combo system in Tekken to master it or you weren't doing anything except wasting your time. One example is King. Button mash and you get no where. Learn his combo throws and you could kill someone in one combo throw. Off da chain!!

I'm not gonna lie. I will be disappointed if Tekken 6 does go multiplatform. I know everyone should get a chance to play it, but Sony is in real serious need of exclusives. The arrogance that Sony had about "even if the console was launched with 5 games, it would still sell." Well, that's kind of how it's looking. Only like 5 exclusive games out or coming within the next six months that are really AAA titles. Someone really should have given Ken Kutaragi and Kaz Harai a humility punch earlier. It could have made the console more attractive in the exclusives department.

Well uhm, I'm not a big Tekken fan, it seems like this genre is very "stale" these days, yes they look great but the fun factor just isn't the same -actually Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat & Soul Calibur were the only "fighting" games that I really enjoyed. Either way if true this is just another "feather in the 360's cap", but honestly IMO, Tekken isn't that big of a deal -Now if we get some creditable news that MGS4 is coming, then that would be very bad for Sony.

I'm not so sure it's due totally to arrogance on Sony's part and the success of the 360 on MS's part that Sony is losing all of its exclusives. Sony financially has been in the red for awhile now. They are getting outsold on nearly all hardware fronts (except last gen game systems of course), they just lost a ton of money on a battery recall, and they've poured a ton of money into bluray and the cell. Many business analysts (although I think most analysts are morons) have said that if Bluray fails, Sony fails. Point is, I'm not sure Sony has the money to keep the exclusives anymore, especially in light of the 360's success and the vast sum of wealth that is MS.

Well the guy was right on Virtua Fighter 5, which turned out to be true, so I guess Tekken 6 here it comes on 360.

This is no big surprise people. With the HUGE costs of next gen game development these days we
are going to see more and more cross platform releases. This way the money gamble isn't as huge.
ITs just the way it is now. The only 'exlusive' stuff your going to get is .....SONY for the ps3 and MS game studios for the 360. It's just too risky for alot of software house's to bet on only one console with the latest game they have just banged out. The ps2 sold a gazillion units, which is why they had alot of exlusive titles.Companies knew they would make bank if the game was good, and released it for ps2. But now, it's a whole new ballgame. 360 got out a full year ahead, and remember there is also Nintendo Wii aswell. Personaly, I always thought cross platform was $hite. Because they don't really push any of the machines they release for. The only origonality and exlusivity your going to see out side each respective companies own software studios, is the 'Indie' developed downloadable stuff.

One employee the other day said that Warhawk was coming to the 360, because the parent was waiting for Warhawk...so the parent got a 360!!! I mean, yeah...Warhawk looks fun...(not on my top 5 list or anything)...but that's not the point. It's that these employees are swaying the market a LOT more than we know and Sony needs to pay attention to this...because we KNOW MS is involved somehow!

Furthermore, there is more to get for 300 to 400 bucks then only Gears, you'll get Bioshock, Assassins Creed, GTA, Viva Piniata, Huxley, Forza, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Fatal Internia, Crackdown, Halo, the right version of COD3, Rainbow Six and more, Command & Conquer 3, Lost Planet, Blue Dragon, PGR, Fifa&PES only on 360 up till Christmas 2007, and more and more

PLUS, what if MGS4/DMC4 comes to the 360? Capcom owns DMC4 and has several selling hits on 360. THey know 360 users buy games, 5.2 game attach rate per unit actually. PS3 owners don't buy games, 1.5 game per unit attach rate. The title has a name that sells: 1+1=2, Sony hasn't paid Capcom for DMC4, MS does pay Capcom to have titles like Lost Planet exclusive. MS even could buy Capcom to secure all titles, best buy ever, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, DMC4 and more all secured in one buy.

And Konami, well Konami also wants to make money. MGS4 production costs are high. If there are not enough PS3's to sell it too and PS3 owners buy so few games, they will certainly look to other platforms as well. Because SOny don't own the rights!

Microsoft has a better strategy, they have MS game studios which own a LOT of rights on the games to keep them exclusive. And otherwise they just pay them easy as that

People always say competition is good, and it may be. But this generation, i don't see competition. The Wii is doing exceedingly well, but it belongs in a unique category of its own. The PS3? Please. One full extra year Sony have had to improve their console and beat Microsoft with killer features etc. Instead, they've made a bulky piece of sh*t with a next generation disc format that will become obsolete a few years down the line (it will happen gamers, movie support doesn't matter, price and accessibility do). Come on. We've seen Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Lair, GTHD, White Knight, and F1 Championship already. It's obvious that Sony made the right choices with their system since 2nd-gen 360 games are getting matched or wupped by Sony's up and coming 1st-gen PS3 titles.

Really, you should be mad at Microsoft for overcharging their peripherals, not allowing for users to buy cheaper, bigger hard drives, not putting in HDMI (the industry standard for HD video output), lying about competitors' specs, botching their launch with a bunch of horrid PS2 ports and faulty systems, etc. Hell, there's even a class action lawsuit underway for the Fall Update that destroyed thousands of 360 consoles. And if that wasn't enough, Microsoft told these unfortunate gamers that they would have to pay $140 to repair systems that the manufacturer is responsible for breaking.

And yet you're mad at Sony. For what. Giving us HD Movie playback for free? For not limiting our Hard Drive space. For making the PS3 HDCP compliant (something that Microsoft treats like a pink elephant)? For giving game developers 5~10 times more space? Not much to complain about on the Sony camp besides lack of rumble, and not many people are complaining about that either.

off topic but man the 360 HD-DVD player is absolutely incredible! At first I really didn't believe it but Mission Impossible 3 + my brothers crappy 4 year old HD rear projection tv ( 1080i not 1080p ) opened my eyes to the truth, if you do not have one yet do yourself a favor and get it!

I have a 360 w/ HD DVD drive and a PS3. I tried Blu-Ray at 720p and HD DVD at 720p, and HD DVD came out a little nicer and less fuzzy than Blu-Ray, although, I will say Blu-Ray has much better color and lighting in their movies than HD DVD, but still HD DVD will play at any resolution at perfect clarity and sharpness, something Blu-Ray will havge to improve on, or its prolly cause Blu-Ray is internally built into the PS3 so that could be a possible reason for some of the clarity and picture problems, but i found that both are the same and both play their respective Discs very good.

much more detail in textures, much higher poly performance.
and nobody is going to go for the 1st vs 2nd gen stuff as ps3 devs have had an extra year to work on there games.

^_~ "ps3 devs have had an extra year to work on there games." No, that's actually not true. Final hardware only started to be sent out in May, and most devs didn't even get their final kits until early September. There's just too much demand for Playstation 3, even on the developer side.

Most devs have only had a good 7~9 months available to build their PS3 engines. Compare that to the two and a half years that Gears of War had. Literally, Gears of War determined how much RAM the Xbox 360 would ultimately have since its architecture wasn't even finalized in 2004. That's how long Epic has been working on it.

Now, many of the haters will argue back "There's very little performance differences between beta and final kits. it's the same damn hardware."

And that's completely untrue. The PS3 beta kits were running 2.4 GHz Cell processors, had 2GB/s bandwidth between the CPU and GPU (vs. 35 GB/s in the final kit) and was running a 7800 GTX to give devs a taste of what the RSX could do. And anyone who doubts the power of the RSX GPU obviously doesn't like to acknowledge the amazing gameplay videos and screenshots circulating the net. Just look at F1 Championship and Heavenly Sword.

had final dev kits right off the bat? final dev units for the 360 released in june/july 05. the system released nov 05. so that's roughly a year and a half for epic with the final kit, which they still haven't maxed the potential of. i suggest we just talk about games based on their quality, not their dev time or the tale of the tape between 1 and another. 360 will always be 1 gen ahead in developement even though really "almost" every game released to date was in developement before the system came out. who cares which is better if they are both good?

If any of you have seen the quality of blu-ray on a 1080p screen, the picture is amazing. I bought a ps3 mainly for blu-ray because similar players run

I have a 360 also and there is no question it has the better games right now; It's the exclusive games

It looks like alot of people here seem to be confused about the difference between 1st party games and 3rd party games. Sony Games = 1st part, such as Socom (Guerilla games was purchased by sony), God of War (SCE made that one..or at least subcontracted to someone and published it), Resistance: Fall of Man (Sony owns insomniac if I am not mistaken)etc. Games made by or published by Sony are sony games. Capcom = 3rd party. DMC4, RE5, Lost Planet are Capcom games. Depending on contractual obligations they are free to release their games on any console they wish because they are not owned by Sony. There are even ways around the contracts if you remember Onimusha on PS2(exclusive) and then Genma Onimusha on xbox, for example. Alot of people are calling these games "sony games" erroneously. Sure they were released on PS consoles in the past...but the developers can place them on any console they wish...as long as they do not breach any contracts. Tekken 6 on Xbox360? Would be great!. I am a huge VF fan so I'm estactic that VF5 is coming to X360. Itagaki and Team Ninja can do no wrong when it comes to game making. I think Tekken would be a great addition...because I think it would really fire-up Itagaki in to making DOA5 the most ground-breaking fighter yet! As we all know Itagaki does not like the namco tekken/soul caliber teams...due to harsh words they had to say about his DOA series. I hope tekken 6 does come to X360 because the competition will re-vitalize the fighting genre.

As I stated in my previous post Sony owns Guerilla games so Killzone will remain exclusive to Sony(I personally could care less...I found it to be boring). Tekken 6 could come to x360..but as of now its only a rumor. There are alot of things that give strength to this rumor though...9,486,935 X360's in the hands of gamers..as opposed to the 861,777 PS3 in the hands of gamers being one. Increased development costs are also a huge factor for 3rd-party developers. These are things all 3rd parties are looking at. How much fiscal sense would it make to spend 2 million to develop a game for 20-40% of 866,771 (actual PS3 owners)gamers to buy it..or make that same game for 20-40% of 9,486,935 (actual x360 owners)gamers to buy it? Until Namco shoots it down this room is a very real possibility.

Virtua Fighter Exclusive to PS3? Are you serious dude? Sega has confirmed VF 5 for X360..thus ending exclusivity. Sure the PS3 version will come out first..but if the X360 version is released with online versus then PS3 version will be inferior.

Resident Evil exclusive to Sony? RE5 has been confirmed as a Multiplatform release. RE has been multiplatform since its birth. RE1 on psx and saturn, re-released on GCube. RE2..psx, dreamcast, gamecube, PC. RE3...psx, dreamcast, gamecube, PC. RE: Code Veronica Dcast, PS2, PC. RE:4 Gcube, PS2, PC(I think). RE: Dead Aim, Survivor and Survivor were PS2 and Arcade..so u could count those as PS2 exclusive..but the weren't great games so. There is even an RE on gameboy and one for DS. RE: 5 PS3 and X360..with another title announce for Wii. Exclusive by definition means limited to object or objects designate; single or sole; noting that in which no others have a share. So clearly RE is not "exclusive" to Sony.

MGS4 has been confirmed as exclusive for Sony by Konami...so you gets no arguments there. Kojima-san said in an interview that he has a different IP for X360. So once they finish MGS4, maybe we'll see that is. But if PS3 sales & interest become stagnant..don't be surprised if the MGS4 rumor resurfaces.

I appreciate your comment, however no where did I say that the x360 sales are in one spot. I said that's how many X360 were sold to gamers. The same goes with the PS3 number, that's the number of consoles sold to gamers from retail outlets. I also have not stated the "pin-point accuracy" of these numbers as I have taken them from nexgenwars.com, I did not take the time to seriously research all the exact sales for each console personally. That site does give a fairly accurate view of the sales of each console. Sure that doesn't show how many X360 gamers traded their X360 in for PS3 or Wii. It also doesn't show how many PS3 gamers traded their console in for a wii and X30, nor does it take into account how many of those PS3s are being sold on Ebay. But one thing is certain...PS3 production issues have greatly hindered their sales. And if the rumors of sluggish after holiday sales of PS3 are also true then maybe a price drop is imminent.

I agree developers do try to make games that will appeal to their target audience, but there is more to it then just that. GTA3 a "groundbreaking" title upon its release. Sold to Millions of PS2 gamers in the 18-35 age group(the core gaming audience). But by being limited to only PS2 gamers..they miss out on the millions of Xbox and PC gamers in that same age range. What makes more fiscal sense to you.....selling 2 million copies of GTA to ps2 gamers only..or selling 6 million copies of GTA to PS2, XBOX and PC gamers? Obvious selling 6 million copies makes more sense because it's triple the sales. The 2 million and 6 million number are just numbers I pulled out the air to prove a point. Unless a console maker is willing to compensate the "potentially" lost income most 3rd parties will make Multiplatform games. That's why it is not beyond the realm of possibility for Tekken to end up on X360

A year head start. More consoles in people's rooms. Devs wanting to get into the next generation as sson as possible and the 360 was in the right place at the right time. This is a trend folks. Its going to go back and forth. Xbox 360 games on the PS3. PS3 games on the Xbox 360. Its too expensive to keep a game on one system. As the installbase of the PS3 grows, you will see more games on PS3 that were 'exclusive' to the 360. There are no such things as exclusive third party franchises anymore. Although a game might be exclusive, the franchise isn't. I do see Metal Gear coming to the 360, but maybe not MGS4. I do see Final Fantasy coming to the 360 since XIII is a series so it could be anyone of the games in the series.

You SHOULD NOT be surprised by these stories anymore since you all have seen and heard it before. Fatal Inertia, DMC4, Virtua Fighter 5, etc.
