LBP may just win GOTY. There are plenty of titles coming out and some are probably just as good as LBP but NONE look to change the face of gaming forever. LBP not only looks to change social gaming forever but it looks like its going to be a successful game as well- which is exactly why it will win GOTY.

There's lots of contradictions in these categories..... for example, How is Resistance 2 the best shooter over Gears of War 2 and yet Gears of War 2 is a runner up for the Best Game of E3 and Resistance 2 isn't nominated?

That doesn't really make sense...shoudn't that put Resistance 2 in 2nd place for Game of the Show and not Gears??...or do they just randomly pick everything?

I am on my 3rd time through the game :). Yeah its got really really good graphics, but no one will give it GOTY for graphics. I think all in all MGS is technically more impressive than gears but frame for frame Gears will pull off the win.

One is TPS and one is a FPS and they're both great games.

When it comes to superior graphics, you really can't compare. In resistance, you can notice the sheer amount of polygons on-screen ( like the big ships, the WATER, the big buildings, big giant realistic boss and lots of enemies on screen -that you can fight) compared to guys with fantastic character models and a new lighting engine but you only fight 2 enemies at a time and it's linear and it seems to have less real estate.

I agree, everyone says MGS4 looks great, and it does, but there's a few niggles here and there.

But to be fair we have only seen Bullshots of Gears 2 so far. There was lots of moments in the demo at E3 where it looked superb and then others where it looked god awful, so I really don't know.

But to tell the truth MGS4 is pretty average looking to me. And once Snake gets a certain inflcition, the textures really bug me for the second half of the game, becuase it looks stupid.

On a side note: The amount of exclusives sony is delivering is staggering compared to either Nintendo or MS.

The reason Halo and GTAIII did soe well is becyase they were all released Fall 2001 time. 9/11 plus great marketing created these games phenomenal reception more than anything.

I am totally serious. Americans dived into new products to make themselevs feel better (it was very financially stable time) and the patriotism (Halo) and general Americanisms (GTAIII) within the games gave them comfort.

It was also the last time there was a truely great film reception, and the highest ever viewing rating of Friends (for exmaple)

Fat Princess is called Fat Princess and gets tons of noms...IT'S A CTF.

LBP has been shown dozens of times and lets you play user made levels with nice cloth textures! GOTS! GOTF!!!!

Sony shows an FMV and promises 256 player online. Best new game ever!

The media also got to play Resistance 2 multiplayer in the Sony room, so it's not just based off the big boss gameplay shown.

Fat Princess is pretty impressive for a downloadable title. It will probably be 10 bucks, and for that, you get a 32 player, online, class based, capture the flag, multiplayer game.

Little Big Planet brought plenty of new things to the show. Bosses, vehicles, and they even showed you a "Power Point" presentation that proved this can be used for even more than just gaming.

Best new game should be something that brings something "new", and 256 players does just that.

Some pretty good choices. Nice to see Valkyria Chronicles is getting some recognition. Wii games are almost non-existant in that list. Resistance 2 looks to be way better than the first.

1up can blow me. that infamous trailer sucked (i would have given it to gears 2 or god of war 3), the resistance gameplay was boring as hell(ooo a giant monster that can't even destroy some scaffolding, and a guy that can survive being thrown a thousand feet! i'm impressed!), and all lbp is going to be is people making levels shaped like wangs.
