BioWare has 'never confirmed any plans' for Mass Effect 360 exclusivity

While there's no question about the rad-tacular sweetitude that's bound to emanate from BioWare's future entries in the Mass Effect franchise, it's time to hang up on another telephoned rumor -- this one has the unannounced trilogy locked into Xbox 360 exclusivity. According to the eloquently named Australian blog, XboxOZ360-gamer, BioWare bigwig Ray Muzyka told Australian 360 magazine that the RPG developer was committed to bringing "the Mass Effect trilogy exclusively to the Xbox 360." Yeah, not so much.

Speaking to Joystiq, a BioWare representative deemed the information "incorrect," noting that Muzyka has "never confirmed any plans of Mass Effect exclusivity for the trilogy." So ... there is a trilogy, right?

Well, I can't speak for Breakfast but for me, my PC cannot even run the first Mass Effect and I only own a PS3 at the moment, so if the title, went multi, it would prolong my purchase of the Xbox 360.

Just because EA has bought Bioware it doesnt mean that any pre-standing agreements with MS are void. If MS had an agreement that ME was to remain 360/PC exclusive and an option to do so for the rest of the trilogy EA couldnt change that. However, this is just speculative as such agreements may never be in place. To be honest, im happy enough for the PS3 to get ME as long as we get some titles coming the other way.

They confirmed ME2 a number of times as a 360 exclusive but it sounds like EA is stepping in and goin to force a multi platform release.

The 1st one was some what disappointing anyways tho. They main storyline was great but the side quest were god awful. It definetly wasnt on par with KotR. Dont get me wrong it was still a good game but given biowares rep for extremely high quality games ME was a huge disappointment.

I want 360 to keep they exclusive IPs, and I want Sony to do the same.
What's the point of having a console war if 90% of the games are on both platforms. Not to mention that almost no games reach their full potential when going multiplatform.

When everything is multiplatform, we might as well just have a single console in this generation. At least then the games would get less delays and the games would reach their potential.

Thank god for Sony, at least I know that they have a huge lineup of first party studios that know how to create great games.

I loved the first game. Everything but the graphics, the popidge was horrendous. I went to every world are did everything I could before beating that game, and I'm glad I did. So glad in fact I went back and did it all again. If ME2 comes to the PS3 I'll have to get it on that because the 360 pop-in was just way too much for me, it f*cked up the immersion.

They've said that they have spoken to Bioware but have also pointed out that they were simply reporting on another publications words. So I believe Joystiq and your so called 360 fansite (which gave MGS4 a 9.9 btw!) are on the same page.

Believe me if they ever find away to put Crysis on consoles, it will be. And the only reason Boom Blox is not on anything else is because of the Wii remote. We'll see less and less 3rd party exclusive anyway now that the PS3 has nearly the same install base as Xbox 360 (and even more in Japan and Europe).

Even MS can't buy everything, it just costs too much to pay the potential sales of a 15 millions PS3 install base (and soon much much more).

I'm pretty sure MS knew that, but the only goal of this strategy was to buy time while they prepare for the Xbox 720, which should be rushed in the years to come (waiting more would be stupid since Sony would then have a much larger install base and much more money to counter the move and / or make a PS4). Then the problem will be to convince abandoned 360 users to 'jump in' again. Some will, many won't.

From now, we won't see many 3rd party exclusives before the next gen in a few years.

Exactly. If Sony's trend PROVES anything it is that

1) it has outsold the 360 in the same time frame of release
2) it has outsold the 360 in the last 7 months
3) it has closed the gap down to less than 5 million when the 360 had a 10+ million head start in sales
4) EVERYONE is upgrading to HDTV's and want more for their money i.e. solid investment and coming this Christmas the PS3 will be filling up even more households

from what i do know is that it uses a lot of 360's memory if not all,.......by the way has anyone even seen the requirements of the pc version, also the recommended requirements are just to play the game exactly like the 360 version, in other words you'll need an even more stronger pc if you want above 720p.

Well being that they are denying solely Xbox 360 exclusivity they are probably dealing more in terms of multiplatform on the scale of the PC rather than the PS3.

Bioshock(whoops, nm actually), Halo, and Gears are the only games I care for on the 360. Well I wouldn't say I care for Mass Effect, but it did slightly pique my interest. It will eventually come to the PS3, unless EA somehow became less money hungry bastards over night.

EA probably are more likely to let them buy timed exclusivity, but never full unless Microsoft is willing to cover all the would be PS3 version sales revenue. With the PS3 being as RPG-starved as it is, that would be quite a bill to front just to keep a game that barely hit 2,000,000 sales exclusive forever.

Then Bioware will put all of the Mass Effects onto one disk...considering that Mass Effect 1 didn't take up all 8.5GB DVD I think it was close to 6.5 and even if the other 2 Mass Effect games do take up all the space the Blu-Ray disk will still have space left over.

Some say it's becuase they are trying new IP's, do not want to pay for an exculsives, etc. It boils down to this, MS is making sure they are get their hands on as many good games as possible and sone of those use to be exlcusive to Sony. If Mass Effect goes multi-plat, great! Gamers for the 360 and the PS3 will get to play a great game. Mass Effect is a new IP and has not been a MS household name. If MS pays enough dough to keep it exclusive then they will make sure the 360 has another great RPG. at this rate there will only be a small amount of games to define a console. I'm a PS3 fanatic but I respect both parties.

1. MS throws money at anything thing that can make them a profit exclusive or not.

2. Is the cost of making games. to stay exclusive mean there is only so much money your going to make and seeing all the untapped market on the other side of the fence has to look tempting.

Was nowhere as awesome as KOTOR 1, however the developer did say a while ago the sequel would be far better than the previous...

We know the first one cannot go to the PS3 because Microsoft published it.

Having the 2 last sequels would make no sense on the PS3 BUT since the end of number 1 does not carry on in terms of story from what I could see at the end of it there could be a chance for the last 2 to appear on the PS3 as well who knows.

its coming to ps3 end of story,its a well known fact,bioshock was exclusive,overlord was exclusive,lots of exclusives will change hand,s this gen its down to the first party devs thats why sony is building as many new ips as possible hence why they have the biggest game studios of the three consoles out there,

But I dont think most ps3 owners care . I mean we would love to have those games . But in the end we dont care , people act like we want to play the games on the xbox . Isnt that why I bought a ps3 ? Say what you want but the xbox is a half ass computer and people know it .Its also another way for microsoft to make money on both end , pc and now dips on the console ...

I would be interested in trying Mass Effect so I do hope it comes to PS3 but even if it doesn't I'm not buying a 360 for 1 game since it has nothing else.

nope, the 360 has no games but nass effect. so since 06 i been playing on the bs3?
