After watching the now classic "Wii Fit Underwear girl" many guys are making attempts to convert there semi-entertaining girlfriends into gamer girls. We here at AnalogHype went through a rigorous investigation process but was able to come up with a fool's proof way to turn your girl into a gamer girl.

Consider Her Personality

Think about your girlfriends personality because that plays a huge part in turning them to the dark side. Sadly, not EVERY girl is going to want to share your love for gaming but it wont hurt to try. Right?

I'm not sure about the gateway games listed. The PS3 is my only console, and I'm not into rock star or guitar hero. So I'm not going to spend money on a game that I'll never play and may or may not hook her in. I find that Uncharted hooks in a lot of my friends who may not have been otherwise interested in gaming since it has that big summer blockbuster movie feel to it and leaves them wanting to know what's next.

First, I started with Patapon, then Professor Layton on the Ds. I got her into Mario Kart, so I'm slowly priming her. Next I'm gonna try her with a platformer. Mind you, she's never even played a mario platformer before

It would be really nice to not be yelled at or guilt tripped for gaming all the time and to have her understand and share my hobby would also be pretty cool.

It all seemed really awesome in theory until I got to thinking about having to share my consoles with her. I imagined getting home from work only to find she had beaten one of my games before I had or being stuck gaming on the pc because she was hogging the tv. No thanks.

LoL I never thought of that. You could set up a different profile for her and have her keep mum on the game till you beat it. I guess the only thing that would take a hit would be your ego if she did beat the game before you. LoL

@Kami: I speak 4, and I make lots of mistakes. But we're not talking about forum posts or quick emails to friends, we're talking about real writing. If someone wants to be a writer, they have to use the language perfectly or they will alienate a huge audience. That's my point.

@Picnico: I don't see how my use of the phrase implies anything either way. You think swearing makes people look stupid? That's just a silly bias. Swearing is a perfectly acceptable method of getting a point across.

Some pretty lame examples.

Most non-traditional-gamer girls like games like Mario Kart, Mario Party, Harvest Moon, The Sims, Wii Sports, etc.

Mine doesn't like Geometry Wars, or Brawl, or stuff like that.

My girlfriend likes MGS4! O_o... she likes the ***SPOILER ALERT*** love story between a certain two, and she loved the story all around ***END SPOILER***

She's playing it as we speak. Not very good at it, but getting better. She's in Act 2 right now.

My girl loves the story as well, she won't play it ( I think she thinks I'll see her do poorly at something and be ashamed, I don't know) but she does back seat play, like "Go crawl under that" or "See if you can take that guy down like this without those other three seeing you". She has fun with it, I've died a few times, but it's a bonding experience.

at first my gf wasn't interested in videogames at all..

but in the three years with me she has gotten into (for example):

Wario Ware (she went crazy with my DS, to the point that she got really angry if i beat her high scores LOL)
Silent Hill 2 (didn't dare play it herself, but loved watching me play)
GTA: San Andreas (she LOVED it, and even bought it for her pc)
GTAIV (i dont have permission to play the main story if she's not watching)
Assassin's Creed (she liked the climbing element, collecting flags etc, i had to do the fighting heh)
Uncharted (she thought it was just ok, but enjoyed playing some of the puzzle parts of it)

i guess i'm freaking lucky huh? but it can be done! just tell your girlfriends WHY you love games, how videogames sometimes require several years to make, how they're not just for kids and can include interesting plots etc..

14 - I found it easy
Started mine off with Halo 2, she loved it. Then moved her on to Super mario bro's, she loved the mini games, and mario kart. Also loves mario party 8.

World of warcraft came next, also Burnout, and she's also hooked on Tekkan 5.

Yeah she gets mad when i beat her high scores, so i just tell her she needs to pratice more, and she does.

So yeah, i think i suceeded haha.

15 - rock band and singstar
My girl got way into rock band with me, hell i even got my 68 year old mom and step dad playing it with us. she loves singstar as well.

i got her started with parappa way back, then okami and katamari. you should know your girl well enough to have some idea of what she'd like. once you get her started on something she's having fun with, it's hard to get the controller away from her.

good times. =)
