1 - Ninja Gaiden?
The cut scene involving the train was beautifully done - astounding graphics and art direction and the nonchalance from Ryu - top notch.

Some of the stuff from Panzer Dragoon Saga was awesome too - when the dragon first saves his skin was pretty impressive.

those are some pretty good choices I rather of had the death of aeris in there other than ff10 intr0(even though it was awesome) and the lost odyssey one was good but the fight scene in onimusha 3 I think where there was this epic fight between samonoske and some ugly tentacle guy which fell up 5 mins it was crazy.

edit: found it :P http://www.youtube.com/watc...
that scene was unbelievable

Samonoske vs Gargrant

5 - the ending of halo 2 should be there.
just because everyone remembers the word, and it's probably the best cliffhanger ever in a video game.

5.1 - or
the biggest rip off.

5.2 - Kinda agree with both of ya Xi & Max
Halo 2's ending was definitely one of the biggest cliffhangers I've ever played a game to get to and I totally felt completely ripped off because of it.

BACK TO MAIN TOPIC ~ One of my all-time-favorite cut scenes is totally old-school... the opening scene to Ninja Gaiden (NES). It was his father in a aerial duel with the other mysterious ninja. It was very simple and absolutely brilliant IMHO. I remember having friends over and just watching that scene repeatedly. Very innovative for it's time.

5.3 - even if it's a rip off
It's still one of the biggest cutscenes ever.

I think everyone remembers it. Remebering it for being dubious or not.

And at least it's not 30 min long like those in mgs 2... sigh, that game was such a let down.

6 - Right.
That Ominusha cinema is something else, sadly I never played the Ominusha series. As for halo 2, the ending is quite good, but I still don't like the game >.>. Also, yes I'm pretty sure MGS4 will definitely be on that list soon, seeing how Kojima is a genius when it comes to cinemas.

the moment in heavenly sword when nariko says, "It is death that I am holding now." When she takes that action, chooses the only real path available, and damns herself she leaves her father and bohan speechless by unsheathing the sword of a god. a very powerful moment.

but definitely the final moment in mgs3 between snake and the boss belongs on the list.

That's a good scene. There are plenty of powerful moments in HS. I enjoyed that game's story.

This is a tough list...I wouldn't even attempt to make a top 5, but there's many classic cutscenes I can remember. FF8's intro and the ballroom cutscene, FF7 had plenty, Kazuya's ending on Tekken 2, Soul Blade intro on Playstation, the sad scene with Kai and Flying Fox before you fight him on Heavenly Sword, Resident Evil: Code Veronica...that guy killing the zombie with the gold guns, Kingdom Hearts openings and endings...there's just too many

Good list, but should be more than five.

The confrontation with Andrew Ryan in Bioshock is still one of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in a game.

And even though the overall game lacked emotional resonance, the scene in Halo 3 when the Chief finally finds Cortana was very well done.

Many of the cut-scenes from Lost Odyssey were great, too.

I think MGS4 will add to this list...Kojima specializes in great cutscenes. No dounbt FFXIII will, as well.

I thoought the opening of Final Fantasy X was pretty awesome. Isn't FF X considered the 2nd or 3rd best in the series?

17 - Onimusha, Anyone?
All good picks, but I don't know if I'd have a similar top five. The opening cutscenes from all the Onimusha games, especially the third, were all pretty awesome. Devil May Cry 3 and 4 had some pretty memorable fight scenes as well.

Where are the Blizzard games? The opening to StarCraft: Brood War is classic.

19 - This list sucks
For one, most of them feature some kind of spikey haired metero sexual girlie boy, who ironicly enough, is kicking ass instead of crying for his mommie. Only in a Japanese alternate reality can this ever happen.

Two, most of them are over the top hyper kenetic action sequences straight out of some John Woo movie on roids. Again, the superficial Japanese influences. I suppose this kind of intro would be cool if you're 13 years old.

Out of all of those the only good one IMHO is Bioshock. It had terror, it had rage, it had soul, and most importantly of all it is the closest to the best of intro of all time. Fallout.

The great thing about Fallout is how it set the mood and tone of the world you're about to enter with masterful narration instead of any pretentious CGI action sequences.

The best ever: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
