1.1 - I wasn't very intrested for natal
until kojima came out and said what he said

I really hope developers mix natal in hardcore games, maybe at some segment of game, for example, you play modern warfare 2,play with 360 controller, enjoy the mission and suddenly you got do defuse this bomb quickly, you just drop your pad and control with your hands,or say commands, like "AIRSTRIKE" or hot wire in gta,or also get rid of quick time events, imagine RESI 4 events with natal or a simple scripted continues conversation in mass effect, you just say some words, lets say that mass effect 2 the developer include 1000+ voice commands to say in the game or in cinematic games like heavy rain or mgs,ms could build an entire strategy game based on voice command, don't expect voice commands to be free and infinite like milo which was fake

I have a feeling that natal may(MAY) complete your game experience(if it done right),it may bring realism to conversations, quick time events, mini segments, make desicions with your voice in hardcore games while playing with your 360 pad for the rest of the game,it really could start a revolution like kojima said, let's just wait and see

I really squeezed my brain to think of these things :)

edit:another good use,use natal to save your motion capture in your avatar, when someone connect online and scroll to his friend list,he see his friend doing different animation(I know you all think of what im thinking right now LOLOLOLO xD)

People keep talking about using the controller with Natal. I thought the big push for Natal was 'Your body is the controller'.

Wow that looks so mind blowing. Never seen such amazing thing in my life. My favorite part was the innovative lag and the accurately, inaccurate movements.

"People keep talking about using the controller with Natal. I thought the big push for Natal was 'Your body is the controller'. "

It is, but what most people seem to be fixated on is how Natal can be used with existing genres a games - games that weren't really designed with Natal in mind. The best compromise is for you to use both.
Ideally, Natal should bring about a bunch of games that simply haven't been made yet due to the controller being limiting in some way. That's the plan, anyway, we'll see what happens.

@Ape007: Interesting ideas, I guess, but your girlfriend/roommate/parents are going to think your some sort of crazy person if you're sitting in front of the TV talking to yourself all the time.

At least from what I saw.

There is a difference but what everyone seems to be excited about, the PSEye can also do. And by that I mean voice recognition and facial recognition.

But yes there are differences mainly the camera itself.

and I think incorporating voice recognition in games like FPS or RPG would be cool. Facial recognition.... I don't know... I don't want to be "fake smiling" or making other gestures at my tv every time I am talking to someone in town.

The whole call in air strike or for back up thing is an interesting idea. Just imagine talking and the members of your squad see you face on there screen. Natal seems like a good device for games like RB6 and Ghost recon.

The way I see it, at least MS and Sony are showing you how the tech could be applied to different interest games, not just the target market of their motion efforts. None of this is optimal. I'm not playing Katamari like drunk Superman, and I'm not going to MacGuyver RE5 with a light bulb looking thing and half a controller.

But it's still quite a bit more progress than was made with earlier attempts imo.

3.1 - I agree 100%
There are games on the Wii that look as if there was 10 hours of dev time spent on them. Gamers speak with $$$ so no buy = no go. The Wii crowd is mixed with non-gamers though and it will be hard for M$ to get those guys on a 360.

That looks like about 5 minutes of fun. The Xbox 360 and PS3 seem to be going backwards with this tech. The reign of the Wii is over and now companies start to copy them....little late in the game.

7 - Imagination
Anyone with half a brain knows that Natal is a beast of an innovation. Something many who pay attention have seen from day one. Use your noggin. The minute I saw that there was seamless usability with Burnout, I knew Natal wouldn't be just for casuals. There is nothing casual about Burnout Paradise. That's from E3. Now folks are starting to get clear where things can go, and how games can be made using it...Honestly it's not that hard if you are open, and understand design. Which many don't. They may have technical skills, but creatively they are barren like an old woman's uterus.

Be a gamer...Not a hater

ok lets be honest here.

natal will be innovative in the long run. theres no way whats so ever, that natal will change the face of gaming "THIS GEN". mb next gen or next next gen.

i think its a solid step towards VR. but the way ive been seeing it used is just lame. natal wont be all that special this gen. mb in future gens but not this gen. this tech is just a steping stone right now.

on another note. u guys remember that spherical ball that lets u controller movement of your character? mix that up with natal, remove the ball and replace it with a moving floor pad. pack that with some kick a$$ software and ur in business.

Oh, good. I've been trying to get an answer to this question for months. Please give me those awesome examples of Natal utilization in a real game. I can't think of any. Maybe you're right and I just lack imagination, but for having so many ideas you sure seem unwilling to share them.

I want you to actually think about using Natal for more than 15 minutes at a time. Would you honestly play burnout in that fashion (which is NOT 'hardcore' btw) for 2 hours? No. Would you run around smacking dodgeballs for 2 hours? No.

When I play games I don't play them in 15 minute intervals. I have yet to see a Natal implementation that isn't a gimmick or a mini-game, and no one seems to be able to come up with any ideas that would appeal to the hardcore gamer.

Natal isn't worth a damn until they release at least one game that justifies it's existence to real gamers. It can be a casual device, I don't care, but then you need to stop hyping it up like it's the second coming.

so much down talk and the same fanboys were saying like Good stuff about RE5 with the PS3 wand but the game had to be played with both the Dualshock X Wand and the guy couldnt even pick up Items X punch and kick the zombies.

Why for the life of me, would anyone pay $100 for this? When you can play all the games shown (burnout, space invaders, ricochet and katamari), better on a controller that comes free with your system.

11 - Anyone noticed the lag?
If you guys haven't noticed it yet, look at which way the person is moving his hand, and then take a look at how the ball doesn't move, and he just crashes into a house, it's right at the end of the video.

Anyone noticed that despite the apparent "lag", most journalists seem to be commenting on how responsive it is?

Here's Kotaku on this very video - http://kotaku.com/5367460/p...

"Playing around with the game for a few minutes I was impressed with how responsive the controls seemed to be, allowing me to move around moving objects fairly deftly and pick up only the items I wanted to with the ball. It was a fun way to play an already fun game. One that would inevitably expand the potential audience for the game."

I love that arguement."MS have more dev support".Well if that's the case it can't be a re packaged Eyetoy in a post Wii world then.I'm yet to see a single demo that can't be done(in a weaker form)on Eyetoy.Problem is,that when I say Eyetoy,I mean the PS2 one.I played with tech demos on PS2 Eyetoy that did fire/water and Anti Grav(game)let you steer a game by tilting your arms, accerate by bending your knees and jumping by(you gueessed it)jumping. All on PS2.Obviously Natal is more advanced but the reason Sony(and rightly so)have gone for a controller is because Humans are tactile.People also seem to miss that PS Eye plus "Wizard stick"(PSM3s name for it)combines the best features of both Natal and Wii with better accuracy than either. It will allow Wii ports(good business decision)with some Natal possible as well.
Personally,it will be my 5 year old that wants motion control.I prefer a pad and probably always will.I can live without any motion systems.
