New Final Fantasy Versus XIII Details

A couple more details on the still elusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII have been confirmed and expanded apon in this months Famitsu.

I mean even if you forget about the whole downgrading of FF13 thing and just straight look at art and characters, there is no mistake. Versus13 PWNS FF13. Seriously.

And the art style? looks plain and generic so far. It doesnt look magical like "FF11". It looks generic SF like "FF12" but worse.

When Final Fantasy XIII was exclusive to Ps3, the Ps3 fanboys called the greatest thing on earth! They said the 360 would never have anything that was as great as that game. Now that the game is multiplat.... the majority of fanboys have jumped ship and moved on to the next thing, like Packers fans when Brett Favre left!

I'll give it credit, Versus XIII does look great, and seems to have a more adult atmosphere, but you guys don't even know what kind of game it will be? What if the gameplay turns out to be like The Bouncer? Not saying that's a bad thing as I liked the bouncer. But the name is called..."VERSUS"... Which to me says it could end up becomming some kind of fighting game not tied too close to traditional gameplay!

But you are probably not listening anyway, so go ahead and live in your imaginary world where everything that's not exclusive is worthless!

I never implied FFXIII is worthless. I will still get it for the PS3 because first of all, the PS3 is the lead platform, and second of all, I'm hoping Advent Children: Complete comes to the U.S as well. But I am more excited about FFXIII Versus.

FFXIII happened already.

It's time to move on with life. Only 360 fans will gloat over it being multiplatform because they are more excited about former exclusive franchises than new IPS for a change.

Definitely... versus 13 has always had my attention over FF13, partly due to how lackluster the mainstream FF series has become as of late and partly because it seemed more dark.

Anyways, I still think the name Noctis is just plain arb, but I'm glad at the direction they're going. Noctis reminds me of Cloud, ppl who've played FF will no why. Dunno if that is a bad thing or not... Cloud is my fav FF hero, but hopefully Noctis doesn't follow a similar self-journey so to speak... too much similarity then.

Nomura makes both xiii and versus. however, squareenix may just be taking one or the other off his hands to help get it out sooner. they're both running off of the same engine, so maybe they might have different divisions in charge of each game. but it's still nomura who's in charge. the decision to release it on x360 was made by wada, but nomura has actually accepted it. it's just a job. if they can get this game into the hands of more owners, they get can make back their initial investments and costs of development.

xiii versus might have a chance of going multiplatform, but that's up to them. i think they might judge the success of xiii on x360 as the deciding factor. that is, if there is enough demand for them to do so. if the response they receive from xiii on x360 is good, maybe they'll consider versus.

as of now, still confirmed ps3 exclusive. and it's looking spectacular. can't wait!

Nomura isn't making FF13, Kitase is, the most Nomura's done on it is probably the character designs and that's it. Both Kitase and Nomura interpreted the main theme differently so they both decided to make separate games.

Yes, but when we talk about character designs the artist's, how should we say it...rights are a little bit constricted. Nomura can say that he owns Sephiroth (for example) but he can't say that he owns the scene in which he killed Aerith, since that's the story, which is penned by someone else and THEY own those rights. To be further confusing, the animators may lay claim to the "work" but the "scene" still belongs to the director and script writer. And the whole friggin project falls under the supervision of the producer.

Maybe my rant was off topic, but I'm just saying that it's hard to put xiii versus' ownership under one man. Which in turn makes it harder to completely know whether it WILL be exclusive to PS3.

However, this is the team that was led by Nomura and which created Kingdom Hearts and Advert Children, so they've probably built up a great level of respect for Nomura; so they'd probably agree with Nomura's choices regardless, and considering Nomura prefers the PS3, he'll want it to stay exclusive. As for Wada's decision, he's in a tricky situation because, who's more essential to the company? SquareEnix has been losing popularity ever since Wada's been in charge, whilst Nomura does every character design for every FF and created the hugely popular KH series... In the end what can Wada do if Nomura doesn't want his games to go multi, fire him? Anyways, I wouldn't mind if FF Versus 13 came out for xbox 360, just as long as they don't decide to delay it for the PS3.
