TGS 08: Halo 3: Recon Is A Stand-Alone Expansion

Halo 3: Recon might still technically be an expansion, but the looming questions is of the game price and distribution type. Here's what Microsoft had to say "This new chapter in the Halo saga lets you experience events leading up to the epic story told in Halo 3 through the eyes of a new hero in the Halo universe," this statement was taken from their website and it goes on to say that, "The stand-alone expansion, set to release in fall 2009, extends the award-winning Halo 3 experience with hours of new campaign excursions and multiplayer gameplay."

Fall 2009? Wow why is this going to take so long to make? Also why tell us now. I hate it when they do crap like this.

This looks awesome. Taking a slight change in direction in halo3 to prepare us for later followings. I like it, halo3 is still awesome and the new levels and support it has been receiving show the game still selling on the charts so long after the release. My hats off to bungie and MS on that.

Epic for the XBOX! Seriously I don't know why I bought one! Master Chief is no Solid Snake or Kratos pretty lame character with NO BACKSTORY. He's epic I guess because he's on a pretty lame console, tied to a pretty lame company. lol there was hope I guess for MC remember the trailer where they showed him as a child? is not a "true game", just a stand alone expansion, Microsoft should follow the psn route and offer both disc and download options. Also, this game should NOT be $60 if it is only an expansion. $40 tops. Sony could charge $60 for Wipeout HD if they wanted to be huge pricks. They are selling it for last generation platinum price of $20. Socom is releasing next week for $40...Microsoft has to do the give and take method. Can't always be robbing people for premium prices, when there isn't much there.

I don't think an expansion could get me to pay $60. This coming from a guy who bought an original Xbox within the first two months of being released solely for Halo.

Now, if Halo 3:Recon has a 12+ hour solo campaign and 6-8 maps for multi, it will make a $60 tag a bit easier to swallow

Please dent insult Halo by comparing it to "Wipeout HD & Socom"! Socom doesn't even have a single player campaign & Wipeout well, its garbage & maybe about 100k people will purchase both game in a year.

Halo 3 Recon will be a full game in the Halo Universe with all the great options of Halo 3:Forge, Replays, multi-player, single-player, & most of all 4 player CO-OP!

This will be a complete game in the Universe of Halo, what more can millions of fans ask for.

Yes, you can't compare Socom and Wipeout to Halo. They are Totally Different Genre's and attract different crowds. If Halo has to have "a full game in the Halo Universe with all the great options of Halo 3:Forge, Replays, multi-player, single-player, & most of all 4 player CO-OP!" to sell, then let them.

Back to the topic at hand. Yeah, i'll probable buy it. Halo's story is "epic" even though it can be repetitive.

The only problem I see is that Bungie isn't going to be involved with this game. Hopefully Micro$oft doesn't just throw money at it and think that it will be good.

This will probably be a new, full game. Might only be called expansion because it "expands" the Halo 3 story.
