Microsoft's GDC 09 Exclusives? One of the following may happen, but which is it?

Isn't it only March? I didn't expect anything GREAT to come out of GDC, E3 is where the biggest announcments come. If people think Microsoft has NOTHING this year, then you're just pathetic. I doubt they will simply let their fanbase out in the cold. It's likely that exclusives for 360 will start popping out close to E3, that's how Microsoft works.

I wouldn't be very surprised if Alan Wake, Halo: ODST, a Rare game and Halo Chronicles hit the 360 in december, along with Bioshock 2 as a timed exclusive. I would have said Mass Effect 2 but I think devs have already confirmed a 2010 release.

MS may announce a multiplat MGS title to be released in 2012 and some 360 guys would say 'MS won E3', kinda sounds like deja vu ¬_¬. To me it would just be MS papering over the cracks again. Yeah, you are right, Microsoft does bring out megaton announcements like to no other. I remember E3 2006 with Peter Moore and the GTAIV tattoo and FFXIII on 360 E3 2008. I don't know man, they better announce something of epic proportion or they will be dogged for the whole year.

Well, this years E3 is taking place in 2 months (June 2nd - June 4th), so we won't have to wait long to find out.Nut it would not have hurt to at least show a teaser of any exclusive (forza 3,halo odst,alan wake. rare project).ANything basically would not have hurt because even if they have games to announce at E3, there is no way that we will see any of them before september, in other words, they will have no in house exclusives this summer.

1) First of all, they confused the word "multi platform" with the word "exclusiveS". Its funny how the xbot mentiones "exclusives" in his article as if the 360 actually has any exclusives.

People let me tell you, there is no such thing as "exclusivity" on the 360. Exclusivity is pretty much NON EXISTENT on the 360. Thats simply a fact.

Bioshock, Lost Planet, Left 4 dead, Fable 2, Mass Effect, Ninja Gaiden, Ace Combat, Tales of, even the fking flop Blue Dragon, they all end up on other platforms like the PC and the PS3.

You can't count Halo, Splinter Cell, that was a series , like Call of Duty, where you ASSUME another game is coming out. Also, I remember playing Splinter Cell on PS2. Too human and Alan wake yes, they are taking a long time, but the difference is, for alan wake, is that there just is no talk about it. Sony talks these games up like nobodys business when they arnt be released for years. Halo Wars hasn't been TOO long, nothing like KZ2 and GoW3. What about Gears 2, it was announced last spring. Halo 3 was announced a year prior to it's released. You can't count games that are EXPECTED to have a sequel too. I am talking about the company ANNOUNCING the game. Too human, yes, and look what happened to it, it flopped. They hype was too great for that game and it destroyed it. Didn't sell like they thought would. Most PS3 games are revealed and released in a timely fashion- eg, Resistance 2 and Motorstorm 2 last year and Ratchet and Clank: ACIT this year. Lou-Cipher is right, Microsoft have NEVER announced a MAJOR AAA title and released it a few months later. It's just some odd myth the Microsoft fanboys keep telling everyone.

Nothing much exciting in this GDC.
Felt like 'peeping' to each other microsoft and sony....if one announce something then encounter with another announcement.
However, Sony has more thing in their sleeve, as we know.

No one exactly had a great GDC. The new Ratchet & Clank was already said to be coming late 2009 so that was expected. MGS5 has been heavily rumored for months now, it was only a matter of time before that was shown. Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks looks like they cobbled something together as fast as possible to appease their fanbase (Just like Punch-Out Wii). Sure both Zelda and PO could be amazing, but they definitely look like Nintendo is desperately trying to put something together as fast as possible after the last E3's performance. Had we got a Pikmin 3 or Star Fox Wii I would have been ecstatic.

Don't even get me started on the Modern Warfare teaser. Even I could make something better than that, just to tease the fanbase but not give away too much yet. I have no idea what they were trying to show us.

Sony's waiting for MS to show their hand this time around. I think its a great strategy considering that Sony has already hinted at 4 phyre engine titles, katamari title, fat princess, and a new Ratchet & clank. Leaving the big guns to crush the competition and keep the information fresh.

Personally, though i think MS's lineup might be weaker this year. MS is trying to buy time to bring more substantial stuff to the table. There could have been plenty of "teaser" trailers like COD:MW2s to get ppl speculating without having to show game footage, but there wasn't even that.

One card I know Sony will probably throw to kill MS's buzz this year will be that upcoming Team ICO game. i know a HUGE amount of ppl both in the industry and out are looking to see what they've cooked up next.

Thats because if you cant announce it in the Q1, its becomes impossible to release the games in the last quarter of the year due to logistics and publicity reasons.

Thats why Gears 2 was announced last year at GDC and thats why Modern warfare is announced this year.

GDC is also teh hotspot to be. Where else will you show off your games and get some media attention and your hour of fame if you are a publisher if not at GDC?

the 2 big 360 games relased after august are going to be splinter cell and forza 3

dont forget about the gta4 dlc which will be released around september probably

i guarentee those will be the games at e3 from microsoft that will be released this year

There is a difference between a person who has a preference to a particular console, and a person who is just bitter that the other team is winning the quality war. (what category do you fit under?)

I do like the PS3 alot more than the 360, but I was not bitter in 2006 and 2007 when the 360 was producing better games than the PS3. I was just playing the 360 more.

Now that the PS3 is clearly kicking the $hit out of the 360 (talking about game quality) you cant seem to control your own anger. so considering that I do own a 360 and a PS3 (PSN: Lou-Cipher/Live: SuperiorMindset)I don't come off looking like an irate fanboy, but instead you look like the true irate fanboy.

I'm just as mad as you are at Microsoft for not having a better lineup in 2009, but to think that there is enough time at E3 to announce and release several AAA quality titles in 2009 is just plain wishful thinking.

Be upset with Microsoft not PS3 fans, its not our fault Microsoft is not producing very many exclusives this year.

Why do people act like the only games 360 users can play are exclusives? Why should 360 owners be worried? It's not like games won't be coming to the system. Many of my last purchases have been multi-plat (SF4 & RE5) And I've been in absolute love with them.

Yes I appreciate exclusives as much as the next gamer but are they a main necessity for me to enjoy my console? Hell no. There are SO many other games from SO many other developers to keep me and many others happy (Not including fanboys because they obviously need crazy exclusives behind them to bash other systems).

The whole "360 owners should be worried" is unbelievably ridiculous...

Rare is still around, Ok, Gears is a poor franchise, and if they throw a racing game out there, it will be chewed up. Alan Wake, and Mass Effect 2 FTW, and Myst Walker better keep its Final Fantasy remnants,to itself. Halo is Halo, FPS are played out, and multiplats have no say, because they're everywhere, so they don't count. Not a single person is talking about the obvious lack of games coming from Sony. Where are their announcements for 2009 at GDC? HUH? Microsoft always lets you know last minute since this generation began. They do this instead of stringing you along for years like Sony, and then saying ops I meant in two more years this game may get finished. Look at little big planet. Look at Killzone 2 how long it took to come out since it was faked, I mean announced at E3 2004! Hello! Microsoft still have way more games, and way more coming than PS3 does even without the extra games, just look at any release list!
