Come on Valve games are top notch period. They are best played on the PC...I don't see why you would want to play a Valve game on the PS3 anyway.

EA only Publish the game on 360 and on PC in countries valve don't have distribution right for.

Valve don't need EA just look at Steam.

Amazon only sell Retail copies and other retailers have to come to Digital download prices because who buys the Hard copy, Steam totally owns.

Over hear in the UK Amazon & Play are nearly always cheaper than Steam (and D2D) - I've bought all my Steam/Valve games as retail boxed copies from Play or Amazon (and we're not talking via their marketplace) - in some cases I saved up to 10 or 12 quid.
Amazon don't appear to have that offer on in the UK but they're selling L4D2 at their 'standard' price of £25, whereas Steam have it for £30. Today Killing floor is £9.42 on Amazon as opposed to £14.99 on Steam, Orange box £11.46 vs £16.99, TF2 is £10 vs £14, Borderlands £12.65 vs £24.99 (all PC titles) - nuff said I think.

6.3 - Hard copy vs digital distribution
I have found (in the UK) that usually Amazon/Play (sometimes Game or HMV) are cheaper than Steam/D2D, especially for new releases.

The best bits for Steam/D2D are the special offers that discount a lot more than stores usually do (the THQ bundle pack you mention of 18 games was a good example). GoG are good on older games but I think 95% of my games (PC) are on hard copy still these days. Cheapest place I found a pre-order of Mass Effect 2 for example was Play (£26). No DD site came close to that.

Good call, though that THQ might only be described as really only one example, and at least one of those games is free to download legally for the PC (Full Spectrum Warrior - you wus robbed, LOL!).
The problem with a pack of anything, including games, is this: how many of those will you actually want to play? how many did you have already? and how many will you honestly want to ditch after playing a demo's worth?
And HMV are doing L4D2 (for PC again) for £14.99 delivered - I believe Steam will be doing the sucking!
And all prices I quoted were current offers today/yesterday.
