Agreed.
A runner up for me would be Demon's Souls..although I'd say only world 3 and (possibly) 5 could be scary..
but i always freak out when playing world 3 in DS.
well i should get back to my new game ++ >.<

btw great list, couldnt have picked a better list myself

I’ve never been somebody that gets scared in games, however that all changed with Dead Space. Not so much with the graphics or setting, but it was the use of sound (IMO) that for me created an atmosphere unmatched in any horror game. It had as much of an impact in that game, that the voice acting has in U2

It constantly had me turning my character around... just to make sure :-)

Dead Space is NOT scary or creepy in the least. A much better choice would be Thief 3: Deadly Shadows.

But I feel Resident Evil 4 doesn't belong on this list. RE4 was too action oriented and wasn't that scary or creepy.

However, Resident Evil 1 on the PS and the remake on Gamecube were much scarier IMO. There is something terribly frightening when you actually have to conserve ammunition and can't rely on getting it from dead bodies.

Yeah, I do agree with you iceman2885. I did feel that I had to add it to my list simply because it was scary for someone that had never played any type of survival horror. Although after Silent Hill 2, RE4 did become a walk in the park. Was trying to work from the ground up, and yes the remakes of RE are insanely scary on the gamecube.

Demon's Souls world 3 - skv007 is spot on with that. Freakier than anything I've played in a long while. Those dudes in vases? Shudder.
