Nier's Kingdom Hearts Similarities A 'Coincidence'

Gaming Union writes "Nier is something of a new venture for Square Enix. Traditionally known for their role-playing games, they've had a few forays into other genres in the past, to mixed success. However, one of the successes was Kingdom Hearts, something of an action adventure / role-playing hybrid.

Nier is said to be much more hardcore though, promising a full action adventure experience. That said, after seeing the first in-game footage from Nier, there are still some comparisons that could be drawn between the two games, namely with the enemies."

Oh I agree, as much as I do play Nomura games, the guy gives off a god-complex attitude. I like seeing SE games do well without him on the team for the sake of variety too, and showing that he's not the king of the castle xD.

Nomura's popularity has kinda taken over the company though.

Well yer Square Enix will be involved in the development but it'll most likely be people who worked on Drakengard. I wouldn't expect Nomura to be involved.

I think actually having Nomura working on less things is better anyway. Not only for Nomura's games but to also get him out of the spotlight a bit.

I don't know, if people knew Nomura was involved with Nier it would have instantly increased the hype around the game and perhaps given people faith that the game might actually be good. Cavia haven't exactly got a great track record when it comes to producing good games.

I suppose so but what if the game still ended up bad? That'd blow up in Square Enix's face. I reckon most people would assume they forced him to get involved.

It's another one of those situations where Square Enix can't win. Haha.

EDIT: Yer, I hear that but In expect it to be about the same level as Drakengard. A Solid, enjoyable game but definately not a masterpiece.

Yeah its true in the sense that if Nomura was involved it would up the hype, but yeah could also spell potential disaster as well. But yeah as I briefly touched upon before its nice to see them working on other projects without the aid of the established figureheads.
