No Legend of Zelda for Wii at E3 2009? Big Surprise

Split-screen: "Amidst much fanfare and excitement for Nintendo's biggest announcements, one was conspicuously absent up till the end of the show: a new Legend of Zelda for the Wii. Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Other M are both interesting sequels - the first Mario Galaxy helped redeem the franchise after the debacle of Sunshine, while Team Ninja devs are teaming up with Nintendo to create a third person/first person hybrid of Metroid. However, the show stopper has always been a Legend of Zelda. The universally loved, respected and played franchise, no matter who the system fan, has always been Zelda. Yet Nintendo chose to omit it. Is it really that big a surprise, though?"

I love how its some sort of "WHOAH! BIG SURPRISE!!!" that Zelda wasn't shown at this E3, especially sine Miyamato was kind of just like "Yeah, we're probably not going to show it at E3" awhile back.

People that only cry "ZELDA! ZELDA! ZELDA!" are kind of douche bags, especially since TP and PH weren't anything special, and this new portable one coming out doesn't look great either.

Hence the sarcasm in the headline. Seriously though, if Miyamoto were to create the same game as those two, it's doubtful fans would be forgiving. Much less keep quiet about it.

Edit: Though yes, most likely he could just create some kind of small twist or the other on previous ones and people would lap it up. It's not an issue of quality but saturation. People will be too happy with the title to care if it's revolutionary. But when they're finished with it, they'll just be right back at the beginning.

2 - Miyamoto confirmed Wii Zelda at his roundatable after E3.
There was supposedly a picture of a "Mature" Link from a back shot, while a mysterious female stood in the foreground. Miyamoto also confirmed that the game will use Motion+ exclusively.

Goto: ignwii.com 4 details.

He didn't confirm motion plus. He said he would like to include it but would have to wait and see what the turn out is for it as he would like as many people enjoy it as possible.

Great. E3 2010 here we come. Here's hoping Miyamoto doesn't tease us with a million countdowns till then (unlike some OCD-afflicted devs).
