Microsoft to Announce Next Halo at E3 '09?

"A Gears of War 3 announcement is too soon which leaves the one true "Megaton" franchise capable of whipping the faithful into a frenzy, Halo. No doubt Halo 3: ODST will have a strong presence at this year's show but a spinoff without the Chief doesn't quite cut the mustard. Nothing but a new fully fledged title featuring one of gaming's greatest icons will get the job done." says Drew from That Aussie Game Site.

"Barring some mindblowing new IP there is nothing else to capture the public's imagination on such a scale, there is simply no better time than now to drop the Gravity Hammer on its competitors with a teaser for Halo 4 or Halo Origins or the like."

Well, Halo could get a new coat of paint and some new enemies/weapons. Bungie didn't really improve the graphics across the series all that much. There's plent of room for improvement this gen.

All the people I know are getting seriously burnt out on this game.

To be honest, I was never that taken w/ the series, but then again, I'm not easily impressed w/ trendy games(inFAMOUS). Espcially after playing pc shooters my whole life, when the first Halo came out it was cool but by no means revolutionary.

There is a two halo game limt per cponsole generation. Xbox had halo 1 and 2. 360 has halo 3 and odst. Halo wars doesn't count. Save the big chief for the launch of the next console. Big announcement at e3 2010 saying new console in 2011 w/halo 4 at launch.

I am betting the big halo announcement is a bunch of new dlc for halo 3 that works with odst.

darthv72. There is a 2 halo limit is there?? I didnt know you made the rules. ODST is a side story anyways. So I say that doesnt count. Do you really think Microsoft will say NO to money, What about Halo chronicles??? Does that have to wait for YOUR rules too. Or that doesnt count either?

GoW3 is more likely then Halo4. MS focus at E3 is on games that will be out within a year. That leave a game that wont be out till 2011 out of the picture. GoW3 is expected to be released in nov of 2010. That makes a few months pass the 1 year but a lot closer then nov of 2011.

Personally I like to see some new IP and I think that Epic and Lionhead might just bring that to E3 while Rare dust off a couple of old favorites.

Sounds super special to me. So special it scored less in critical review and no one cared to buy it.
