Safety's Off: E3 '09 Predictions - Microsoft faults, Sony wins?

If you've been keeping track of the recent gaming news regarding this year's E3, you wouldn't be out of place in assuming that Microsoft is looking to work off the casual gaming mantra it set at last year's show. With E3 '08 featuring releases such as LIPS and Wii Music, it seems that the casual crowd is the subject of most attention for the Big 3. With E3 '09 right around the corner, what should you expect? Will Sony finally get that "year" it's always been hailed as having? Can Nintendo impress the hardcore this time around? Read on to see what we think.

i do think that ms is focusing on the casual market a little too much... they need to leave that share and start focusing on the hardcore games... sony is unnerved by nintendos casual take over... although they have dived into the market, they still give high priority to the harcore gamers on e3... and like the author says... e3 is a generally a hardcore gamers wet dream... but ms;s decisions to showcase games like lips and your in the movies at e3 is pretty baffeling... i do hope that they re focus on the harcore again...

Well... Rare is due for an announcement, and hopefully it's not too casual. I also hope we see some Alan Wake. That's all I'm really looking for from MS.. anything else I'm interested in will be icing on the cake.

You do realise that only a minority of gamers have multiple consoles?

Before you call someone a cheapass or fanboy, look at your collection of games and think... do a hand full of exclusives really justify the cost of the hardware when 85% of games are on both platforms?

I can easily call you a sucker for spending money two times on identical hardware. haha

I justified a Ps3 with MGS4, Uncharted, Killzone 2, Motorstorm: PR, LBP, and this month Infamous. That sound plenty justified to me. And My 360 has Gears 1 & 2, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Fable 2, L4D, Gta: L&D. If that doesn't justify it, then you are a fanboy or a cheapass, but if you unemployed then I sympathize

- Judging by the comments he made in his article, I find it pretty clear that Sony is going to dominate E3 this year.

I think this E3 will be a a Sony fest... Anything M$ shows at E3 will be over shadowed by games like GOW3, Uncharted 2, MAG,MGS5... The new PSP will also draw many eyes... If M$ can pull out something like last E3 (FF13 multi-plat..), then only can it stand against Sony's monsters line up... (If MGS5 goes multi-plat then M$ has a chance,but I highly doubt it). Halo:ODST and Mass Effect 2 will be sweet, but nothing as sweet as God Of War 3... Also, if M$ doesn't announce anything about Alan Wake, I think we can safely assume it's going down Duke Nukem's Forever fate....

Anyways I own both consoles so hardly care which gets better games.But I am just a big fan of GOW!!! Ya go Kratos......

Since when was e3 a competition? I don't see a scoreboard anywhere. Both systems have a lot to offer, and a real gamer will want a strong showing from all 3. Besides, e3 hasn't started yet so the speculation needs to stop until e3 actually starts.
