E3 winner: Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo?

According to CNET, Sony had the slight edge over its competition by being the only company to announce new hardware. In addition, their new prototype motion controller seemed "more impressive and tangible" than Microsoft's "future" demo.

It would be hard even for CNet to try to spin Microsoft's 2009 E3 disaster.

* The 'big' Microsoft game gets disowned by the creator of the series himself the very next day at the Sony conference. Not only that humiliation, the game is of course multiplatform.

* The motion control stuff has no release date and no games. Nintendo shook the world with their Wiimote stuff at their E3 conference with games playable right there on the show floor.

* Alan Wake was another big fumble by Microsoft. They really shouldn't have shown off the dissapointing footage that looked like your average Resident Evil game. As long as Alan Wake was a mystery people could pretend it was going to be some graphical and gameplay marvel. Now it's just another game that you don't need a 360 to play on since it is getting a graphically better PC version.

* Other than that, Crackdown 2 and more Halo milking. Whoop de doo.

Natal was the game changer! It had every major media outlet talking about the 360. Sony had nothing like that. In actuality, there motion control is a joke....according to Sony fanboys themselves.

I just got back to the hotel from the show and I have to say Sony rocked the house on all fronts.

The place is slammed like E3 hasn't been in years. Sony's main arena area is impressive. We were running MAG and Uncharted 2 MP side by side - it's on the same wall on one side. Just incredible. The MAG HUD has a lot of info...and you need it. The battles were crazy.

Uncharted 2 though is going to be the new king of multiplayer. The combat is just so eye popping, so incredible that nothing touches it.

The same GOW level that was demoed is also playable across from the Uncharted MP. Wow.

Sony has the full BATMAN Collector's edition out as well. In addition to the Joker we also get the Batman Home space. Batman is actually playable in at least 3 places on the floor.

You should have seen the crowd when The Last Guardian was announced. The entire place was in awe. But it was the GOW III demo that cracked me up. When Kratos disemboweled the centaur and sent him to the morgue the entire audience gasped. The game is that good.

Kojima didn't want to do a 360 game. That was pretty obvious. He went out of his way to jam a stick in the eye of certain people and made sure everyone knew that with Peacewalker he was fully involved on a personal level.

Grand Tourismo? The racing game of the show. Everything else is 2nd place on down.

Motion control of the future is here now and it belongs to Sony.

I think I came away from this years E3 so far as the WINNER!

I will admit that Sony offered up way more innovation and games across all genre and gamer demographics but int he end, it all comes down to me, the gamer winning more games to play.

Damn right, good impressive showing, bit of everything and everything aimed at gamers not casuals, even the motion controls looked core, no countlessly and pointless networking stuff.
Uncharted 2 looked stunning as did GoWIII, the amazing thing is, they hardly shown any of the footage for PSP games like LBP and Jak and Daxter.

I really like the motion controls which have been developed and look to have more appeal than Natal and Motion-plus.
I also like the fact that the PS2 will still live on. That thing will never die, lets hope the same happens with the PS3.

MS had everything this year: very good games, innovative 'Project Natal' and very good community featurez 4 Xbox Live!!! 'Project Natal' was just mind-blowing and very innovative along with Milo, the newly announced gamez were very good too excluding their graphicz capabilities and live got some very good new featurez (lastfm, facebook,twitter,1080p, netflix....MS showed that X360 is a home entertainment system on top of a gaming console while sony didnt

Xbox: win but by a very small margin.
SCC, Alan Wake,Halo:Reach, Crackdown, L4D2, Forza 3, xbox live additions, MILOooo (pretty creepy i admit, but somehow very impressive),

Wii: Didn't get to watch it

PS3: pretty close but really good show of games
Rockstar, FF14?, GT5,GoW3, Ico, Uncharted 2, PSP go, Pmote (hum..i don't know about buying the eyetoy and this plus an already expansive console to play motion games....that is an update version of the wii mote).

Games=360 80% of multi platform games are still better on 360! arcade games=360 this one is no comparison as the 360 games murder anything i have seen on ps3 this includes wiiware stomping them also! Online=360 need i say more we are still waiting for cross game chat for 2 years! for Sony to make a comeback you need more than show more than 5 games and 3 out of the five are not even for this year? People need to stop sweating Alan Wake. To me it was a big let down. Even the biggest Xbox fan would agree that Splinter Cell Conviction was more impressive visually and gameplay wise when compared to Alan Wake. And then tell me how Microsoft could have won E3 when Splinter Cell Conviction couldn't even hold Uncharted 2's jock strap. Watch the HD gameplay trailers for Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction, and Uncharted 2 without fanboy googles off and tell me which one looks and plays better...Look and I haven't even talked about God of War III. Microsoft did better than last year because they did so bad last year and expectations were low. Sony had all these leaks and expectations off the charts and still managed to impress with the best graphics and gameplay of its games and exclusive anouncements.

2 - Sony had better and a wider range of games presented at E3. Not only for the PS3 but PSP as well, and although MS only has 1 console to worry about, I think it's fair to say that Sony is splitting their attention pretty well between their 2 consoles and deserves the hat.

Sony takes it by a hair. MS had better operating system enhancements (1080p on-touch, last.fm, facebook, twitter, Natal), but their gaming display was weaker than Sony's.

Overall it was a real thrill ride watching their conferences, both did extremely well and one thing is for sure: The gaming industry is booming!

I've never supported Sony, but after today, I was impressed by their announcements. I'm not going to go out and buy a PS3...but it's a possibility in the future. I can't even play all the games I've bought for the 360 AND Wii...I don't think I have time to play anything else. I was equally impressed with Microsoft's offerings (Convictions, MGS, Facebook/twitter integration, Halo Games) as for Nintendo, they had the weakest presentation, but the Mario Games, Motion Plus, and Metroid looks awesome. Once again, Sony and Microsoft follow Nintendo with the Motion Controllers.

I don't get why people argue about who won E3 it all comes down to preference and what game's your interested in and in my OPINION (not fact) <-- many fanboys take an opinion as being fact ... but in anycase (imo) Sony took the show, followed by Microsoft, nintendo didn't really show anything that interested me except Golden Sun DS, and Metroid M
