THIS IS THE MOST BLATANT RIP OFF OF THE WII I HAVE EVER SEEN

wow and now look at their Mario Cart ripoff....seriously, wtf

lokiroo4205435d ago

except that it fully tracks your movements and will actually be useful in real games.

qface645435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

you know sadly i have to agree with you
and anyone that disagrees is just being silly
it look the same thing as wii motion plus

but actually it seems like they just put this on last minute though

wheres GOW3 D;

Lariat5435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

This thing is not even on par with WiiM+ let alone Microsoft's Natal.

And it looks like a lolipop. LOL

Anon19745435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

How many times have you been playing on the Wii and simply get tired of constantly having to point the Wii-mote at the screen? Maybe it's a limitation of the Wii-mote, maybe it's a limitation of developers creativity but either way it bothered me. The demo they showed for this looked awesome, and far more accurate than the Wii-mote. Demo was certainly more inspired than Microsoft's Natal "Watch me throw paint" demo. I can actually see myself using these in an actual game, not just some party game.
Could be gimicky but it totally depends on what they do with it. That's the key. Like Microsoft's Natal, we'll have to wait and see.

chaosatom5435d ago

lets see some games being realized, and then we will start comparing it to Natal or Wii-mote.

jwatt5435d ago

I think MS forced Sony to show this off early it just looks like a last minute thing. The first person view was pretty cool but I think Sony showed it off earlier than they wanted too. The guy was nervous as hell and they just seemed unprepared.

Aquanox5435d ago

Fanatic or not, one has to agree that this has little to hold against Microsoft's Natal.

Silellak5435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

Of the three motion-sensing additions (Wii Motion Plus, Natal, PS Motion) coming out, Project Natal is easily the most ambitious of the three...but that almost means it's the most likely to fail. Still, I am fascinated to see what talented developers will do with all of them. In the end, that's all that really matters.

@1.10:

To be fair, the $200 is purely speculation at this point. I would be surprised if they try to price it above $99, but anything is possible with Microsoft and their accessories.

And using the PS3's existing camera accessory is irrelevant. You will still have to buy it for motion control, and only a fraction of PS3 already have the camera. I imagine the pricing of both will be competitive, but we'll see. At the very least, the additional competition will be a good thing for both companies.

darthv725435d ago

All you need is a 360 (any model) and a semi expensive camera system ($200 ouch).

This idea sony has at least uses their existing camera.

user8586215435d ago

glad you agree then that;

halo is a half life rip off
gears is a kill switch rip off
forza is a gran turismo rip off

Dread5435d ago

lol

blue motion control dildo.

truly a first in gaming.

FragMnTagM5435d ago

I was thinking the same thing. PS3 dildo action anyone?

krisq5435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

Natal is looking far more advanced BUT... On all videos of it and even on the wii, input has a massive delay. I'm not sold on all motion controls but if I'm gonna ever buy something like this, it better be uber precise and very responsive. I don't care if I will have to hold a dildo or nothing, or whatever for that matter.

whoelse5435d ago

I think it looks pretty decent, but I agree that it was probably added in the last minute, hence no accompanying video.

It should go nicely with the PS3 slim that was... oh.

And come on Sony, STILL no price cut!

Qui-Gon Jim5435d ago

I don't see it, but i don't exactly go around looking for dildos everywhere.

menoyou5435d ago

Finally with these motion controls we have real 1 to 1 mapping and game-play. That presentation was simply amazing. I am really hoping both Natal and PS3's new motion control really work as well as we imagine. Nintendo is getting left in the dust though with their inferior technology and games. They will still be selling a lot though I'm sure.

PS3MAN855435d ago

If you think this rip off of a Wii controller was a show stopper - you are indeed a fanboy. This is not innovate in the least bit...and neither does that copy-cat Mario Kart rip off. I mean seriously, if this stuff gets you excited to be a PS3 owner...this is a sad, sad time for you guys. It's funny that people try to rip on Microsoft's ground breaking camera technology and Sony comes in with some last minute piece of plastic...lol! It's funny to me.

BrunoM5435d ago

ide say these and natal the biggest thing taking them apart is the guys at sone press sayd spring 2010 microsoft said we will use it in the future no date ..

doG_beLIEfs5435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

Playstation Lifestyle hinted at this a MONTH ago. Aside from that, Sony filed a patent for this control method YEARS ago. Technology like this does NOT happen overnight. The was even rumors (which now appear to have been true) that a focus group was shown this over a year ago.

This is true 1 to 1 control. Notice the controller going forward and back on top of going side to side? Wiimotion+ does NOT do that.

Nintendo took the Genie out of the bottle and MS and Sony are off in different yet FAR MORE advanced directions than Nintendo.

http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs...

http://technabob.com/blog/2...

And here is the patent...notice the DATES?

http://appft1.uspto.gov/net...

Before you spout your drivel, you should KNOW what you are talking about 1st.

See the date of this article?

Not content with the Sixaxis tilt-sensitive controller on the PlayStation 3, Sony has applied for a patent that covers a game pad with absolute position sensitivity. Is this an attempt to steal the Wii's thunder?

The original patent was from 2006

PS3MAN855435d ago

Be happy with your slightly updated, better Wii controller for your PS3 then.

vhero5435d ago

People who compare this to Netal need to wake up this is completly differnt technology and it will be used for completely different things. Netal will offer a lot in the stuff Spielburg did but this will be pointed more to the younger generation like the wiimote and be used also for sports games something the Netal probably wont be best at bar a couple. They are completely different product aimed at completely different markets.

As for a wii ripoff hell it's better than a wiimote even with that crappy addon that does everything thats the wiimote was designed to do in the first place! The wiimote is a plain ripoff anyways as it comes without extensions most new games are gonna need. The nunchuck was far enough but the motion plus addon?? they trying to bleed you people dry especially when games like red steel 2 FORCE you to use it.

finbars755435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

Sorry to break the news to you but the wii took the motion in the controller from the ps3 sixaxis.Thats why sony sued and won.Check your info before you put your greasy tiny fingers on your keyboard.Oh by the way the wii took the look of there controller from the dreamcast original look of there controller. But dreamcast was to far ahead in the future back then that it didnt pay off.Check your info again. The sonys controller looks very similar but oh my it looks like it was perfected to a tee as nintendo still cant keep up with the competition.Do you have any knowledge of games.Mariocart to modcart are you kidding. Two totally diferent games with different gameplay.Oh by the way the natal wasnt even really shown what a gimmick thats going to disappear sooner then later.Maybe if MS would stop with videos and show us what the hype is all about then i would be impressed. When it comes out late in 2010 possibly 2011. thank you Jockamo for your lack of knowledge.I mean what are you going to do when sony releases there 3d virtual which puts you in the game and the enviroments are all around you. They have it they didnt show it because they dont want us to get to excited.Wait until the movie Avatar comes out and then you will get an idea of what sony is all about. The first 3d virtual movie.

Christopher5435d ago

But the demos they had and the fluidity and control of it was really well done. The dual controller set-up is just what you need, and I see lots of issues with Natal if they don't move to using controllers of some sort.

Problem, though, is I still don't see this type of control activity being implemented in our mainstream, hardcore games, especially by third parties. I do see Ubisoft putting out some very nicely updated versions of Red Steel 2, though.

N4g_null5435d ago

LOL lokiroo420 so who are you suppose to move in a FPS type of game? And will your guy have a funny looking ball on the front LOL? What games are going to use it and why is there no release date?

snp5435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

Gotta say, there's plenty of trolls in this place today... Reading through some of these PS3 threads - missed conference last night (way too late night/early morning Oz time) - it's really quite distracting just how many tangential non-PS3 posters are in here dissing this that and the other.

Happens in all forums, i know, but i guess is just that much more obvious when there seems to so much denial that it happens 360 on PS3 direction (just arguing with a guy yesterday trolling who claimed there weren't trolls hovering throughout the PS3 sections to the same degree - the evidence is the contrary as i poke my head through literally a couple of dozen different usernames flooding rants through a range of these threads this morning..).

Anyhow, side issue.

On this, i'm not convinced. Looks way too early. Actually, i'm not convinced this or the Microsoft one will come soon enough to get enough sales and then software support to mean anything this generation however they turn out. See this, and Natal, and whatever gets shown presumably at next years show as more 'here's a direction we might incorporate heavily in our next PS/Xbox' practically speaking.

thesummerofgeorge5435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

It looks like it's actually smooth motion capture, not cheap LEDs tracking within a small area. And if you wanna know how many 12 year olds we have here just count the posts that call it a dildo .... HILARIOUS kids, cause it's phallic, as if that's a criticism or something. What's so amazing to me, is the accuracy allows it to be used as virtually anything, not just in childish or mini/party games, but using the tech they use for mo-cap with the glowing ball, makes it so we could use this in any of our favorite shooters (if applied to them).

Imagine a Lightsaber battle in 60 fps with these puppies..... It would be spectacular with that accuracy... you could actually spin it around n whatnot, making it about skill, and not just frantic movement, the motion controllers equivalent to button mashing. Oh and the bow n arrow demonstration look so fun.

All-35435d ago

Errrr... with the upcoming Wii Motion Plus add-on, 1:1 tracking is also possible - according to Nintendo.

All-35435d ago

Basically, everything that the PS3 motion sensing technology can do - Microsoft's Natal can do... but Natal also adds full body gesture, as well as face and voice recognition.

If you want an actual "controller" to hold... then there's always the upcoming 3rd party Gametrak Freedom Xbox 360 motion controller. It may also come to the PS3.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1...

Anon19745435d ago

Oh, I'm sure Natal can do those things too, my point was you couldn't tell from the demos. MS's demo of Natal just made it look like it was geared towards the family, party game crowd to compete with the Wii. Sony's demo showed how their tech could impact games I would actually buy. I have no doubt Natal could be used similarly, but clearly from that demo that's not the focus Microsoft is going for, so I'm not holding my breath that I'm going to see Natal implemented in anything but party games. However, it is still very early.

indysurfn5435d ago

first motion controller

Microsoft, they are the original makers way back in 1998! Wii came out in november 2006. Some people are not able to think outside the box and research something. They will repeat the FIRST criticism a person comes up with. And NEVER research the truth. So how are ignorant people acting like Nintendo made it? The first one was made in 1998 by microsoft for a PC game they made called microsoft flight simulator. The controller is called the 'side winder' I bought one I know. But here is your proof if you was not born yet.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wik... Also guess where the first webcam motion detection device appeared? That's right on a pc using microsoft windows.

So:
1 First motion controller was made by Microsoft.
2 First motion detecting webcam was by Microsoft.

No WONDER they are the ones to make a controller less
system!

lokiroo4205435d ago

@ scissor

did you miss the part where they explained that motion tech in certain games need some type of button inputs, like fps where fast button pushing is the only way to have fast repetitive shots on screen.

derseb5435d ago

this is in no way a rip off. it just takes the thing to a whole new level.

In my eyes this is the only system accurate enough for real games. If they develop some great, full games for it, it will be unstoppable!

N4g_null5434d ago

lokiroo420 no I missed the part where they had a control pad on the stick or a analog stick.

/sarcasm

Fix that sh!t sony other wise it will be a lame excuse at a fps controller. Right now I have to give it to MS where you could still have two input devices in your hand while the cam tracks your body... will they do that hell they better because we want hardcore motion tracking with spatial controls damn it other wise don't release any thing.

Great showing but we need more games and better yet halo full on motion controlled and a what killzone 2 motion controlled? I mean at least say you have patches coming! Seriously I can't wait to get sdks for this stuff if they even plan to release any of it.

Qui-Gon Jim5434d ago

You said: "This is not innovate in the least bit...and neither does that copy-cat Mario Kart rip off."

I'm curious to hear what you think about that "Joyride" game (do i have the correct title there?) that MS announced at their conference.

Omega45435d ago

I seriously thought they were joking lol, they didnt even name it

Forrest Gump5435d ago

It's a prototype,don't worry :)

Jockamo5435d ago

i think they felt they had to throw it in at the last minute. the presenter was obviously reading right off the teleprompter and there was no structure to the presentation. it's almost like he was playing with it for the first time.

sony's pissing me off right now

Omega45435d ago

Thats exactly what i was thinking. I guess all those leaks and Natal made them have to reveal it early, just a bit too early

Anon19745435d ago

At least we had an actual look at this in action. I thought the demo really gave us an idea of how this would be implemented. Microsoft's Natal video left me asking "Yeah, but I'm a gamer. How is this going to effect games I'll actually buy?" Sony showed that off. We'll have to wait and see if they deliver, but at least it seemed promising.

ravinash5435d ago

Jockamo - Sony would piss you off if they created a true virtual world that you could walk it to. you don't like them...we get that.

Jockamo5435d ago

...but whoever runs the peripheral department needs to wake up. It's an exact copy of the Wii+. What else is there to say? If we go back to the "demographic" of the PS3, as well as the COUNTLESS discussions about casual gamers vs hardcore gamers, then you'd realize that most PS3 gamers are hardcore and most casual gamers don't want to pay over $300 for a new console.

I love the PS3, but dammit stick to the kinds of games that made Playstation popular in the first place. Not a complete, absolute rip off of a peripheral.

Disccordia5435d ago

I think the fact they said it was a 'prototype' gives them the opportunity to go back to the drawing board and effectively copy Natal (if they wanted to) which I think is the most impressive of the motion sensing technologies shown.

SuperM5435d ago

I really liked the demo where the guy held a shield and a sword. That looked pretty frikkin fun. I would love an epic swordfighting game using that kind of control. And the bow was pretty cool aswell. I dont see why people are complaining. Who cares if its inspired by the wii-mote or whatever. The only thing that matters is that we might get some really cool games using these controls.

Natal was the most technically advanced one, but i dont know how it will feel to play games without a controller. I have a feeling Natal is more casual oriented while the sony version could be used in more hardcore games. Also sony is using the PS eye so its probably gonna be significantly cheaper then natal.

trancefreak5435d ago

Looks like ms forced sonys plans early either way they'll all have motion capabilities now. I do feel that the motion sensor was tossed last minute but i dont care for any of them tbh.

RememberThe3575435d ago

What did you want them to call it? Fetus?

no-spin5435d ago

when the racing creator game and motion controller launches, just dont buy them. Wii mote ia a failure for core gamers. Sony might do justice to the gimmick

NO FANBOYS BETWEEN WHICH IS BETTER PS3 OR 360 MOTION CONTROLS. LETS JUST AGREE THE WII IS FUKED

Bladestar5435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

well...

Xbox 360 (No device) > PS3 (more accurate than wii) > Wii mote.

I do agree that the wii may be in serious trouble.

But out of all... I think Sony straight rip off the wiimote... it's probably more advance, responsive and accurate than the wiimote but.. the media will eat Sony on this one. At least Microsoft got it done without requiring any device or any technology that assimilate the wiimote.

Edit:
---------------
@digger18 - lol! yeah? You sir need to show us a url with video proving that sony's eyetoy have the same capabilities as microsoft technology... please show us the link that can show that it can do everything the new motion technology can. Let me ask you Something genius.. if the eyetoy could actually do everything.. and not just what advance PC camera can do... why did Sony release this new wiimote ripoff that you have to hold in your hands?
I will be a believer if you show video of the eyetoy being able to detect and identify motion and exact position of any body member in 3d space.

By the way.. what happened to Sony's sixaxes.. Sony does not even mention it no more... as if never existed.. lol.

digger185435d ago (Edited 5435d ago )

Bladestar, the Xbox Natal is a rip off of what the PS3 was showing with the eye toy awhile ago.

heroicjanitor5435d ago

Could you be any more hypocritical?

You just said that sony ripped off the wii mote but is more advanced, why doesn't that apply to natal with the eyetoy?

cryymoar5435d ago

I will say that the Natal looks pretty sweet, but that video they showed was all CGI and actors making it come together, i want to REALLY see how it works. The Natal will either work and hit, or be ahead of it's time and miss.
I liked how the PS3 motion controls came in equal pairs instead of the asymmetrical setup of the Wii remotes, and this looks pretty useful for hardcore games as Sony showed with the FPS, Tank, bow and arrow, and RTS.
So at least Sony had some tangible real time tech demos instead of some CGI and acting. We'll find out who wins next year i guess.

Gue15435d ago

The thing reads everything in a 3D space and with 1:1 response time... that just killz the Wii-mote...

Guitarded5435d ago

....and Sony sucks c0cks, one in each hand. That pic looks like he is ready for his first. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
