Xbox version sold 7 million, and PS3 version sold 5.6 Million. These are VGChartz guesstimates so you know that they always inflate 360 numbers. But still no where near as "twice as much".

Was it really worth $50 Million + millions in advertising costs for MS? I don't think so, but I wasn't one of the ones who bought the DLC so I don't know, and most likely I won't get this new DLC cos imo GTA sucks, 3 was about the only one I could tolerate.

Lost and the Damned was probably the best GTA since Vice City. And i give them credit for not being afraid to put the word "gay" in their title.

Eh... I'm not exactly convinced that this will FLOP because Microsoft will surely advertise it like it's a new GTA game this Fall. But for the most part, it will probably be important only for those who have GTA4 on the 360 and have downloaded The Lost and Damned.

This Fall, I can only see the most die-hard GTA fan actually buying the content when it first comes out because there's a BOATLOAD of big games coming out this Fall (that could be a reason why The Lost and Damned was delayed last year), and I think a lot of people will be going for the big games, while only a limited audience will be going for this DLC, but I don't think it'll be a flop.

I think it was a smart move on Microsoft's part to secure this DLC, but I REALLY think they overestimated the impact the DLC was going to have this generation, because I imagine that Microsoft figured that if they secured this DLC, the impact would be similiar to GTA on the PS2 last gen., but GTA4 just didn't have the same spark.

DLC will never be more rewarding than new ip's or full price games on the whole. Its a quick fix and serves its audience but gamers prefer games unless they dont have enough games to play. People dont bet annoyed with new titles unless they are crap but people are growing increasingly tired of the DLC movement.

See, that's what's funny about opinions. Because I think the game was rated "just right". I enjoyed it, played it from beginning to end, ultimately thinking that it was not only the best GTA to date, but I picked it as my Game of the Year as did many publications and friends of mine. I bought and beat Lost and Damned, and while I didn't like it as much as the full game, it was still a kick ass game.

Well I for one don't care if it flops or not as I will be buying it, and it won't impede my enjoyment if 2 million buy it or 2 as I am the only one playing it. Also as gamers we are constantly asking the medium to move forward and for games to be as highly regarded as movies via storytelling, production and critical acclaim. its 20 bucks and so was the othere dlc and if you bought the special eddition when that came out its like 140+ dollars just for gta and a little more story and missions with the same gameplay as the original game. well its all x360 owners got so i can understand them but ps3 owners dont have time to spend the money on old dlc with all these new games and fresh experiences comeing out. They paid $50 million for exclusive DLC just because they were so desperate to gain more 360 GTA 4 sales than the PS3 version. I remember when they boasted time and time again that the new DLC was gonna be downloadable packs of new islands and maps etc, equivalent to a new installment like Vice City. What did they get? Some just about above-average DLC that was still set in the same city with some weak-looking theme about biker gang guys in leather pants - The Lost and Damned. Now the the second GTA 4 DLC installment MS gets is still in the same city and about the life of a homosexual? The Ballad of Gay Tony? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Just reading out the name makes me roar with laughter. I'm a PS3 owner, and before you say it NO I'm not hurt or envious - I do NOT want any of those DLC installments on my machine. I'd much rather play the original GTA 4 game with Niko over again, even though I felt it was a bit of a letdown.

A number of points I would like to bring up to your comment. You've never played lost and the damned, which actually has a very good storyline and improves on a lot of the gameplay mechanics. Also the new DLC does not have you playing the role of a homosexual, rather someone who works for the homosexual in question. Firstly, I'm not homophobic. While homosexuality is not at all my thing and I love women, I certainly would not physically or verbally abuse someone simply because they are gay. I find this whole thing funny beacuse the GTA games series is a traditionally, alpha-male, hyper-masculine heterosexual themes type game and seeing this contrast just creates alot of comedy. I saw the ratings and read the reviews for The Lost and Damned and it mostly got on average a 7 to 7.5s and some 8s. I think I saw one 9. However my general interpretation of it the reviews was that Lost and Damned was just ok or fairly good, not much significant improvements or new additions, except new characters, storyline, a few new weapons, vehicles, mechanics etc. If it was that great like you say it is, it would still be talked about by many more now. I already own the original GTA 4 on my PS3, so to me from what I've experienced of the game, it's just not enough for me to want it so bad.

I did'nt wanna play Lost and Damned because of the biker gang main character thing. I didn't need to - it was still the SAME CITY but just different characters and storyline, what exactly was so different about it? New game mechanics? Sorry, not significant a new feature enough to sway me. Even worse, none of the best features from previous GTA titles that were missing was added. I was more hoping for a continuation of Niko's story, if that had been the case then I would have been a lil' envious. This Gay Tony episode is still set in the SAME CITY but again just with different characters, with a theme that does not interest me. Most importantly, I'm just not interested in biker gangs, I'm more into Italian, Russian, Irish and other Mafia-type organizations, Hispanic drug gangs and cartels, black/African-American street gangstas - to me the main characters should be based along typical organized crime themes not wild biker gangs.

Why do I care? I do not care at all. I'm just speaking my and mind and expressing my opinion and thoughts on a web-based discussion forum about video games. Something which I have a right to do. I did NOT force anyone to believe me or agree with me, so why do you seem so worked up about it? Just because this game is coming out exclusively on another console that I do not own, does it mean that I cannot talk about it? Says who? You? 78 reviews with not one being below a 75. It also has a 90/100 average and sold over 2 million copies in about a month or so. GTA: The Lost & Damned was a great success and kicked the sh*t out of the majority of retail games.

What news groups would those be? Because if you go to places like Giant Bomb, it's full of members that enjoyed the hell out of it. You act like critics are separate from the other gamers based on the fact that they write reviews? I don't write reviews and I loved GTA IV and Lost and Damned. As I've said before, GTA IV was my Game of the Year with only MGS 4 coming close. The people that didn't like it need to understand that a lot of people did.

From what the press release said they will also release an exclusive 360 game disc with both DLC (Damned and Gay Tony) on it and no need for the original GTA4 game.

Who cares if the game has the word "gay" in it or if the nightclub owner is gay? If anything it makes the game stand out. This is not 1970 anymore, its 2009. Things have changed. Rockstar has always been controversial. They are like the Howard Stern of video games.

MS really wasted their money, no not because these DLC won't be cool

but because the difference in sales of GTAIV had no difference between

ps3 and 360, MS expected it to take most of it but as it was revealed

that actually didn't happen at all.

I am sure they and R* just want this deal stuff to end, R* wants to make

multiplatform money via DLC not just exclusiveness.

The fact they gave the first DLC a full blown penis shot and then

come back with a Gay themed DLC, it is clear they find this whole

The first DLC for the Xbox 360 sold over 1 million and is well on the way to 2 million by late next year... And to be honest have you even played it? It is well worth the $20 if you ask me. And at $20 a pop if they do sell 2 million units on the Xbox 360 that is $40 Million... Microsoft paid $50 Million for 2 exclusives. How is that failing?

And guess what, people are already talking about "Gay Tony"... No gameplay shots or videos, etc.. Just a name and a logo.
So if you ask me...

Rockstar/360 GTA4 Exclusive content = Mission Successful... No matter how you look at it... Wait until after E3. I am sure this new DLC will rock. I don't care if the character has 12 legs and shoots ping-pong balls out of his ass, If its a great story and fun I am getting it. New stuff for GTA4 = Awesomeness in my book... And I don't care what system it is on. PS3 or 360.

1. It did not re-invent the very essence of gaming. It was fun, and fresh, and dandy and fine, but it did not set the world on fire.

2.Secondly, there's the obvious fact that Rockstar North is already working on the next Grand Theft Auto.

3.Thirdly, and most important of all: Rockstar already has Microsoft's money.

If after reading this sad excuse for news you still think these are valid points to predict the failure of a game, then that flawed logic could be applied to any game that has ever or will ever be made. Mature N4G audience mature damn you and dont allow crap like this in.
